Especially since the PSA at the beginning explicitly implores you to lock down your home and have a weapon at the ready to defend yourself at all costs by any means necessary. Seeing, say, found security footage of someone at least trying to fight back could highlight how much of a threat those monsters really are.

This has gotta be one of my biggest gripes with almost all horror stories set in the US (or other countries with accessible firearms). We need at least one good horror setting where a character just goes full on monster hunter.

the song that played in the "i will wear your skins" part is "teddy bear picnic" by henry hall. not only does the old-timey song add to the creepiness of it, but also the lyrics may have a connection to the story- most notably the ones we hear in the video, "if you go down in the woods today, youre sure of a big surprise" likely meaning the chamber in the woods. plus, the next line tells you to go in disguise- perhaps the skins are a disguise for these weird creatures?

You finally get to see this esoteric threat upfront, and it's horrifying. That's also why greylock works so well. It understands you can't have full frontal scares all the time. I know not everyone is aware of it, but it seems misguided using the same text-to-speech as JOHN MADDEN JOHN MADDEN JOHN MADDEN. Even still, to be honest, I felt this was pretty phoned in otherwise. A couple neat scenes aside (like the choose the face shower scene), it's par for the course. Creepy drawings, manic scribblings, sudden face contortions, glitching audio, emergency broadcasts, blah blah blah.
We need more movers and shakers in the analogue horror scene at this point. I want more shit like Skinamarink, or creative uses of established IP like the Godzilla AH. Even Mandela Catalogue evolved dramatically over its many videos, and Vita Carnis grounding its lore in plausible psuedo-science was excellent. Not enough of that going around.

I agree the concept of this series is very derivative. But the pitch perfect execution of the scares elevates it for me. The faces looking around corners really made my skin crawl and I had to look away at points.
Even though I can tell they are hand drawn, the framing and timing of those shots is literally perfect at evoking fear, almost better than the scares of MC. To me, that mostly makes up for the played out story.

Analog horror needs to take some time and expand its genres. Weee just seeing reskinned versions of Gemini Home Video, The Mandela Catalog, and Local 58, as well as a few others.
The schtick has already worn thin. Creators in the future need to begin using new forms of analog media or try tapping into new forms of alternate horror from said eras. Otherwise it’ll just become aBackrooms situation.

This series wears its inspirations on its sleeve, but i see it more as an homage than a copycat. It does tread the line of plagiarism. Evil beinga that steal your likeness? Where have I seen that? Humanoids that break into your house from another realm? Old VHS movies clips with a sinister twist? Police tapes? A detective character who ends up becomig a victim?
Where they really set themsleves apart is with the lore surrounding the Chamber. But unfortunately, they used way too many tropes. I guess they are limited by the genre. But in spite of that, I would call this series a success. A lot of work went into artistic design, and that alone is praise worthy.

Same with all of these analog horror analysis channels.
      > here is the Plainsville Pulverizer, I think it's a very scary piece of analog horror
      > here's 2 minutes of uninterrupted footage from the video
      > I'm going to tell you literally everything that happened here
      > rinse and repeat
      > upload with the title "the first analog horror to make me go bald" or some other somewhat vague and eye-catching title, bonus points if it's arbitrarily all lower case
And if you're lucky, they might just add an original idea or two!

all the victims recording be like "hmm, there is something dangerous in my house with me, and i recognize this going through the front door. Shall i exit out the front door which I am standing at, or proceed inside?"
