The old pioneers get a lot of credit for cutting those passes into the rock side but what is more impressive is that they used trained diamond billed rock peckers.
I mentioned Diamond Billed Rock Peckers at work last week, and got the expected " what are you talking about " reaction. So the lady at the desk googled it, and came up with an image of a Save the Diamond Billed Rock Pecker t-shirt. She still didn't look convinced that I wasn't making stuff up, but the image of the t-shirt on Google cast just enough doubt in her mind that she didn't call me out on the matter. Thought I was had for a few minutes there. So Thank you Rory, for creating and selling those t-shirts. And also Thanks to whoever posted that picture online which ended up on Google.
The reasons why this video is even more amazing than usual: - the sheer endurance - the incredible land- and cloudscape - the ride out in total darkness - the amount of tools destroyed
That's the best recovery I've seen in a while. To do both of the vehicles and then wheel them out with you was amazing. Rory your master skills and your teams strong support makes these recoveries the ones to watch. People shouldn't miss one of your recoveries because they will have missed a master at work.
Rory has more know how and experience than anyone I have seen on here. His ability to get the hardest problems solved is amazing and his seat of the pants knowledge of physics blows me away. He is the “never say never” guy you want with you when things get tough. Keep it real like this Rory! Don’t go all Hollywood on us😁👍
Gotta admit going up the old waterfall in old blue steel was pretty intense guys, damn impressive work, without breaking! Way to battle through everything in this video...man.
We wheeled with those guys in September when we came down from Oregon. Night run on the Pickle after a heavy rain. Nice guys, glad you could help them out!
That scenery is gorgeous. I lived in Moab for awhile 30+ years ago. Sure miss it. You guys are always so entertaining to watch. Love seeing the driving skills. Old school problem solving and creative solutions. One of my favorite youtube channels now. Thank you for the great work all around.
But 20 hours. Three men in the cab for the out and back parts. And Rory did all the driving? C'mon Rory. Take a nap while someone else drives. Just sayin'.
I love this Rory takes Blue into the desert and Mater gets a rest and Blue performed admirably! Even Mater has it tough on the "waterfall" Blue struggled but made it up! Mike and Sean are a vital part of this recovery team and two vehicles were repaired and driven out! Mike's history of the old wagon trail through the hills was awesome and exciting.
Two outstanding trail repairs and a 20 hour stretch in and out, what more could one ask of you all. Outstanding work guys and ole Blue was put through her paces and came out the other side with colours flying high. Nice one, stay safe and stay awesome.
I've done Hole in the Rock three times now... it's no joke. You are truly on your own out there... beautiful country though! Seeing the new truck in the Maze and on the Chute was a thing of beauty! Well done!
I would call that 5 wins. Two on trail repairs, Ol' Blue showing what she can do. Finding out just how hard you can push two ratchets to the point of too far. (ooopsie). I can't say that was "All in a days work" because that was 2-1/2 eight hour days worth of work. Well done. If only you could have celebrated by stealing a Mountain Dew from another YTers frig.
Rory, don't sell yourself short (on the exit outro) you and your team did an awesome job recovering those two vehicles. keep up the great work and love the video's
Have to LOVE Farmer rod! Will weld dirt if there is enough iron in it! Convinced Rory's success is MORE the Pilot than the vehicle! AWESOME driving RORY!
WOW! That was a long day! Welding the socket to the bar, pretty ingenious. I used to work with an old timer mechanic, he had a saying he used when in a bind.... "what would you do if you were out in the desert ?" Now I know what he meant, use what you have at hand and make it work.
Love that you just persevered and when the real tools failed you made your own with the old broken shaft - bingo...... nothing stops you. As always fantastic viewing - what a trail!
Hole In The Rock Trail has been on my bucket list for years, looks like a superb trail too, hoping to get on it soon! I thought Rory was lookin like a Knight off of Monty Python there in the welding hood.. 🤷♂👍
Rory, Mike and Shawn never disappoint in what they can do and making it fun to watch and educational to boot! It is truly amazing to think what folks did making these trails where they needed to go and taking wagons overland like this. Old Blue really delivered the goods today. Glad everyone got out ok. Give Lily a hug for me and God Bless you all.
Holy smokes!! 20 hrs. Rory you and crew are awesome. Rory. I learn something about welding/ fabrication/ trail repair every time I watch your videos. Thank you.
Took a full bodied wrecker with no lockers up the shelf road to Grey mesa??? INSANITY! I've done HITR and cant imagine that truck squeezing thru a couple of places. Outstanding job and the Blue truck has proved itself no doubt.
I know one thing Moab motorsports is an off Roaders best friend!!! That was quite a video most impressive. You guys are tough!!! I can’t believe that old blue Chevy truck. That is a tough machine! Thank you for making that video really something what you guys do!! if you told me that I wouldn’t believe you. But seeing is believing!!
'ol blue proved herself well on this trip! Epic trail fix as well. Not many folks you can call for that kinda recovery! Great job team! I still think it's epic to see this channel come to life! Been here since the beginning 💪 😎
Rory you Always seem to amaze me You’re out of the box thinking to come up with a solution to solve the problem at hand. Yes I still love the way you always seem to come up with a solution no matter what you overcome the very strange and unique obstacles that stand in your way. Never give up never quit trying no matter what the struggle and succeed by pure determination sometimes. Thanks for your adventures your friend Eric
Well, THAT was a long day!! But you got them fixed and got them out. Thanks to your years of experience and all the knowledge you picked up on the way!! Great job to Rory, Shawn, Mike on the camera and the guy at the front corner... guess I missed his name, but he was doing a lot of work too!!
Old Blue did it. You gentlemen were up to the tasks at hand. I want to say this channel shows what honest hard working men can do everyday. Thank you for the videos. Here teaching and waiting on another TrailMater video, that's me.
It's funny but also cool looking to see that old dually just walking through that stuff and yea of course it does need some upgrades but dam she done amazing
Good morning diamond billed rock crew.. that Rory Irish is looking looking spiffy today... looking at those shoes saying( WHAT ARE THOSE) ...have a good day guys
Your driving skills are obviously on track for whatever situation arises but it's your trail fix skills that never cease to amaze me. Welding the u joint into place on the Toyota was an awesome fix for the situation and the trail created braker bar was brilliant! Great job all around!
Anybody can bolt on parts but it takes a special ability to work around situations that stop the average Joe. I do 24-7 road service breakdown repair for truckers in the Idaho Rockies. Much respect Rory!

Everything makes sense now
All without a safety guard on either!!!🎸🎸
"What do you have when your trained diamond billed rock pecker quits working?"
A BUSTED PECKER!
Nobody says a thing about how the Navajos carved all the Navajo Sandstone though.
The reasons why this video is even more amazing than usual:
- the sheer endurance
- the incredible land- and cloudscape
- the ride out in total darkness
- the amount of tools destroyed
You missed out the point that the propshaft repair should actually have been impossible, but Rory made it work.
And the sheer amount of camera batteries....
I love watching you help out intelligent off-roaders that break something. I get a little weary of watching rescues of stupid people.
Knowing what to take and what not too is a major skill set. And Always gotta stay for "after credit chuckles "

Rory your master skills and your teams strong support makes these recoveries the ones to watch. People shouldn't miss one of your recoveries because they will have missed a master at work.
That’s a long day, the guys you rescued would be well happy with your effort 👏👏
Incredible recovery skills for Rory and his crew, including ole blue.
👍👍👍👍👍, That WAS in the middle of nowhere !!!! NICELY done !!!!
Rory has more know how and experience than anyone I have seen on here. His ability to get the hardest problems solved is amazing and his seat of the pants knowledge of physics blows me away. Old Blue needs some Lockers. Long day with much success. Great job.

That bailing wire "fix" takes me back to some of our out there repairs to get home. Thanks for taking us along!
Bloody brilliant Rory, you and your team, outstanding.

Thanks for letting us come along.
Quite impressed that old blue made it though all that with no lockers. Thanks for bringing us along Rory.. Thanks for the scenery Mike.
Good "Early" Morning Mike, Shawn and Rory... Rory the Tool Maker even without Trail Mater...... another awesome day with The Team

I've done Hole in the Rock three times now... it's no joke. You are truly on your own out there... beautiful country though! Seeing the new truck in the Maze and on the Chute was a thing of beauty! Well done!
Loving the scenery, long day but very rewarding test for Old Blue and 2 rigs saved. Excellent work!😁
That wagon trail was amazing. Love the quick glimpses into Utahs rich history.
I would call that 5 wins.
Two on trail repairs,
Ol' Blue showing what she can do.
Finding out just how hard you can push two ratchets to the point of too far. (ooopsie).

I enjoy watching these trail repairs. Thanks.
That’s it. Time to learn how to weld! Rory, you’re a genius!!
WOW! That was a long day! Welding the socket to the bar, pretty ingenious. I used to work with an old timer mechanic, he had a saying he used when in a bind.... "what would you do if you were out in the desert ?" Now I know what he meant, use what you have at hand and make it work.
I love these older episodes 😊
Wow I'm thinking why doesn't this channel have a million + subs????? Lets do it folks, lets get Rory and the crew up in count like Matt has!!!🎸🎸
That’s some crazy territory to consider horses pulled cover wagons through that area. Great trail fix!
That was definitely a long day! But you got them all repaired so they could get out! Good job Rory, Mike and Sean!
i'm exhausted after watching this episode, thanks again for sharing the adventure
Well done with a full sized rig through there. Blue rocks! Love that trail!

Awesome recoveries. Cool shots of the wagon trail. Gotta respect the pioneers who crossed that land.

Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Your driving skills are obviously on track for whatever situation arises but it's your trail fix skills that never cease to amaze me.
Welding the u joint into place on the Toyota was an awesome fix for the situation and the trail created braker bar was brilliant!
Great job all around!
Another salvage job under the belt for the new tow rig
Rory I love your driving style, Slow and Easy. unlike some guys that are balls out uncontrolled bounce around
I Love this channel. It always has me pulling my hair out of my bald head. Keep up the good work.👍🏽
Great job. They was some real ingenuity used on this job. The wrecker is doing awesome.
Anybody can bolt on parts but it takes a special ability to work around situations that stop the average Joe. I do 24-7 road service breakdown repair for truckers in the Idaho Rockies. Much respect Rory!
Rory you deserve the title of "Fixer", break downs are lucky when they call you.
