While Lewis and Clark were sent to the NW. Zebulon Pike and Wilkinson's son, also named James, were sent to explore the SW. Known as the Pike-Wilkinson Expedition 1806-1807. More than likely an attempt on Wilkinson Sr's part to see what Spanish forts were west of the Mississippi with the dream of setting up his own territory. He was just playing everybody including his own son who served with distinction.

In regard to Zebulon Pike's book after being released from the Spanish prison, his notes he made were rolled up and hidden in the group's gun barrels. The Americans were not allowed any ammo
Yes, Wilkinson had everything to do with this expedition being a "spy" venture like he also did with Philip Nolan's "mustanging" operation a few years earlier into Texas.

Most of the creatures I meet are fellows like that. I often comment on horseshit written or recorded by buckets of puss like that. How more people like the guy in Nottingham don't stand up to off those kind of people on the streets is beyond me.

His daughter Jane did become the "Mother of Texas" by giving birth to the first Anglo American born in Texas. Her husband Dr. James Long tried to invade Texas but died in prison after being captured.

Is the painting at 18:00 that of Alexander- it does not look like hAlexander (shown earlier) and looks more like William Livingston, Governor of New Jersey.
