10 years later and Pierre Poilievre is still working hard in Parliament! The real joke should be the messed up system giving MPs the ability to retire with a pension in such a situation!
Pierre is no 1 choice for party leader among clear minded thinkers on social media and MERCER WORKS FOR THE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR TRUDEAU PROPAGANDA MACHINE known as the CBC.
That Guy lol maybe you shouldn’t have dropped out of highschool? I don’t even know you personally and I know that you have the education of a 14 year old.
1. Poilievre didn't make the rules for MP pensions. 2. Poilievre won't receive payments until he's 65 years old (or 55 if he chooses to receive a reduced amount). Of course, recognizing such obvious facts would interfere with the comedic moment.
It doesn't distract from the fact that he wualified for that full pension at age 31, or that he attempts to trash other MPs from achieving the same pension under the same criteria, all while he lives in a taxpayer funded mansion and votes agaisnt dental care for seniors and poor people while we fund his gross smile... remind me, what jobs has Skippy worked outside of politics?
I don't think the point was to discriminate against Pierre, but to point out the idiocy of our system - a system wherein the people currently crying poor about Nortel pensions are at the same time, giving themselves gold pensions that most of us would only dream of having, fully eligible at 31. Or voting to impose a tax on other's pensions. Its Pierre because he is the biggest blowhard when squawking about "Liberals" milking the system...good ole Conservative hypocrisy
And he's still milking/gaming it while pushing things like cryptocurrency, emphasizing his own bumper sticker/soundbite grasp on finances and economics.
The only thing they have on him is he took a picture with a protestor I think we might have winner if the media isn't busy burying it all like they did with the child predator
not set for life; from retirement age. If he loses his seat in the next election and can't get a job, he'll starve for thirty years. It's sad what happened to Nortel employees, and I don't like the fact that people have entire careers in politics, but he was duly elected, and should not be discriminated from the same benefits as every other elected official because he is younger. If his age is a problem, then his constituents can decide his fate.
Then he can refuse it (remember when Stephen Harper was going to do that when he was Leader of the opposition?) I vaguely remember a certain party campaigning on how they were going to be different, yet all I hear right now from you are the dame excuses the Liberals gave when confronted with the same issues. I should expect no less "fiscal conservatism" from a party that has raised spending even more than Paul Martin + Jack Layton did. No wonder we have a record deficit...
Concerning this video, what would you expect from the Liberal entrenched CBC. The mouthpiece for the Liberal party. Sell the CBC. Its outlived its usefulness and is no longer impartial.
I am not talking about the Conservative Party. I am talking about Pierre Poilievre. I have stated that I do not like career politicians. But this is not his own doing. Why should he turn down a potential pension 30 years before he can receive it? What if he leaves office and later on returns? Why should he limit himself? Again, I am only talking about Pierre Poilievre. The Conservative spending is another issue entirely.
If Rick has a problem with the federal government having setup of pension system that rewards a two-term MP a pension regardless of their age, he should have directed the message at them. Instead he make this strange suggestion that Poilievre has done something wrong. It's also rich to hear this from the CBC given that everyone involved in making this will be on a fat pension supported by taxpayers because the monetization value of their content is lower than the mid-tier RUclipsr operating on their cellphone from their kitchen table.
Here's a suggestion for an amendment. My Dad's pension worked on a factor of 90. Age + Experience. So 31 years old with 7 years experience = 38. No pension. 55 years old plus 35 years experience = full pension. Just a thought.
Poilievre did not milk the system. He happens to now be eligible for the benefit. He did not ask for it. I'm not quite sure what he is supposed done here. Ban the MP pension system? MPs work exceptionally hard, and we want the best and brightest to work in public service. Nortel is a public company, and sometimes bad things happen in industry. We acknowledge these hardships that can occur in a capitalist society. Maybe MP pensions are too high. That doesn't mean it is the fault of any party.
Aaaand 12 years later we have uneducated part time drama teacher who has to be asked the same yes or no question 16 times, and still will not answer. The one who thinks that budget will balance itself, and prases dictatorship regimes. Corrupted and greedy who behaves like a mean teenager. It seems so strange that I did not see how bad the propaganda was in 2009.
Trudeau has 2 Bachelor degrees and has more work experience than PP. (plus you've taken that quote out of context, what he said no one educated in economics would disagree with, the idea that increased spending increases GDP which will then be able to pay off the debt). The real corrupt and greedy politician is PP, how else would he be worth more than a million dollars without any work experience outside of being an MP?
@@SenorMeinKrafter You mean honestly working for decades you can't acquire a $ million in the Western country like Canada used to be? Well, it was possible. But doesn't it bother you that Trudeau was born into millions, a family of "elite"? It does not bother me what he inherited btw, but he is not a specialist in anything except of demagoguery. What concerns me is that he gets away with all scandals (more than anybody in Canadian history!), and his ideology inherited from China Communist Party and Castro - regimes that killed millions. He definitely follows their tactics demonizing opposition and imposing "emergency" act when people peacefully opposed his tyranic policies. What bothers me is that he controls the court (Jody Wilson-Raybould exposed the SNC-Lavalin scandal), appeases terrorists (for example, paid 30 mln to 3 Islamic terrorists), bribes media (example $600 mln to CBC), uses non-profit organizations for his own family profit (example WE scandal), breaks the rules he imposed on Canadians (lockdown, masks), that he is a flaming racist (Mr. Blackface), mysoginist (assaulted a female reporter), hypocrit (crying about residential schools which were blooming under his father's leadership, apologized on behalf of all Canadians, but never on behalf of his own family! If I were an atheist would that have mattered? Let's not discriminate based on religion. I was not going to call you a Liberal. I like Liberals more than libertarians. I'm not defending any party here. I'm defending this MP because he did absolutely nothing wrong. He simply qualified for a program he won't be able to access for 30 years.
Just as a note, Andrew Scheer also comes up for this... I don't really see a problem with the pension thing to be honest, possibly make the amount of time you need longer, but c'est la vie.
Garbage. Every politician receives a full pension if they serve 6 years or more. We should be more incensed about the politicians receiving raises each of the last 3 years on average of $3700 , yes even through covid when trudeau said we were all in this together. How many of you were laid off or lost your jobs. yes the politicians were suffering also, they didn't have to be in the parliament buildings.

@isntlovegrand Clearly , how much in government spending has gone missing ? They have spent more than all previous governments combined. 54 million for a broken arrivecan app that some group did in a weekend for thousands? Do a little research please , it's uneducated people like you that worsen this mess. Their scandals haven't been " dealt " with , they were brushed under the rug.
A couple "clarifications"... 1. Contrary to Mercer, Poilievre does NOT qualify for his pension NOW; having served six years he is now *eligible* for an MPs' pension - WHEN he turns 55 (in June 2034). Until then he'll never see a dime, even if he were voted out in the next election. 2. As for Mercer's allegation that Poilievre never held a "job", he should've looked a little harder.
