I really enjoy seeing how creative people are. Nice job on the box and spoons. I have a shooting lane on the property and use whatever I can find to make targets ie. hickory nuts, spent casings, sandstone rocks that tend to create nice clouds of dust when hit, ballons, poker chips, etc...
I am going to build this, but I will build mine deeper, just to ensure it catches all the lead. With this build, the spoons are just inches from the wide open and as the pellets impact and break up, pieces probably go flying all over the place and are not contained within the box. I think my idea of making it deeper will keep most of the lead inside... Then I can gather it, melt it, and make other stuff with it... ;)
Followed your video and made the same apart from I made a frame to stick in the grass. Worked a treat but the tea spoons took a right beating.! Far better than the knock down ducks I got for the grandson to shoot at.!!
What's your rifle/caliber/power? Also that bottom of the box won't take many misses. Maybe a steel plate and then a thin wood sheet and then the carpet to take any pellets bouncing back as well as dampening the noise? The idea is awesome though.
Hi Ozzy. I tried this one to, but my results bin devastating . I used stainless steel spoons and they´f bin destroyed after 3 shoots . Using FX Bobcat .22 with 18 grain JSB (31 fpe) at 35 yds .
I really like the idea or indoor reactive targets like this! But what happens to the balls/BBs or pellets you're shooting? Do you know if this will work for airsoft BBs? I made a video of my airsoft BB trap that is only using paper targets so far, but I wonder if it would work to mount the spoons farther back in the target trap box...?
I wonder if you could use cheap electrical conduit instead of copper for the cross piece? Maybe cut off the spoon handles with a hacksaw and epoxy them to a 'sleeve' of conduit that's slightly larger in diameter than the cross piece, so the spoon can still revolve around the cross piece.
Awesome shots! What was your distance? I made the same thing but you did yours right. I made mine with the spoons facing the opposite of yours and I was getting Ricochet back because of it! Lol Try finding a small medium size Greek yogurt bucket or cup and fill it with water put in freezer for a day take it out and man you get an awesome slowmo ice breaking shot when it explodes! And no debris it’s ice and will melt . Keep you’re plinking on target 🤠
Americans call them "thrift shops". We need you to get involved with blowguns - they're cool too. I belong to archery forums, airgun forums and blowgun forums - all fun stuff. Great vid, thanks!
It's an SMK TH78D CO2 rifle in .22 pushing 11.5 ft/lbs! (I fitted new breach seals and an extended hi-flo breach probe) I'm considering the sheet metal idea, thanks! - although I'm not planning on missing!
I know this is an old video, but for any viewsrs I've used an old pressure cooker pot for a .22 Springer air rifle before, they just mushroom. And you can catch fragments by putting old sheets/clothes into it . Other folks have reccommended oil based putty in the back of a target box to reduce risk of fragments and ricochets. I may get a few spoons from a charity shop and try it for an Airsoft pistol as I can't hold an air rifle in Scotland now without a license, but Airsoft under 1j are exempt. (Scotland Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 To own a low-powered airgun in Scotland you now have to be licensed...the 2015 Act, covers all low-powered air weapons with a muzzle energy exceeding 1 joule (0.74 ft/lbs), but not ... exceeding 12ft/lbs...[for rifles] or 6ft/lbs...for an air pistol.

+Wayne E. Me too! get lots of inspiration from other videos on youtube. I still like to sert up tin cans to shoot also!
Excellent idea. Going to give this a try!

very nice idea mate gonna make a bigger version for paintball thanks very much !
Great! Another reason for the wife to make me sleep on the couch.
You're hilarious 🤣!
Definitely worth it lol 🎉
This looks awesome for my son who is learning to shoot a slingshot!
Do the pellets end up staying contained or do you get many that ricocheted out?
you are very resourceful sir Ozzy, thanks for sharing
Cheers!
Excellent work and impressive demonstration Chuck !!!!
I respect my friend ..
In order then to use the convex side of the spoon to take the hit, roll the spoon handles in the opposite direction so they don't unwind.
They may also spin better that way by not allowing the curled in end to grab the threads of the bar.
Wow this is cool! I'm going to use this idea!

You are using too powerful a gun, 31 foot pounds is too much for spoons!
Use a gun with less power.
@@dougrobertson5451 I turn the power down to sub 12 fpe ...much better !!
Very cool, but what about ricochets? We don't see where the pellets end up.. Id be scared to shoot at something that might ping right back at me!
Great idea Ozzy. Should be ok for slingies too. Thanks for sharing.

I was saving the coffee shop ones for making spinners for fishing, but since I bought a HW100KT recently I’ll have a rethink 😎

Bbs or slingshot ammo won’t ricochet right?
Do you get a different sounds because of the size of the spoons?
Great idea! Thank you for sharing.
That ain't gonna last long! Great Job.

Since he called it a pound shop, think our version would be dollar tree or other similar store.
I thought you were going to bend the spoons with your mind. Great target!
Wonder if this would work with simunition ammo?
I used heavy stainless steel soup spoons. no denting.
Most Excellent Dude...Gunna' make one...
Impressive and inexpensive.
Amazing wellDone
tonight my wife is gonna have a fit
is it safe? the pellets don't bounce back at you??
cnn94001 Not had a problem as the spoon rotation directs the pellets strainght down
How are you gonna change the spoons
Great idea, well done.
I think this is a great idea. the pellets should never come back at ya. I am thinking now of something else. Thank you.
Good job fella!
Wow man nice job!
Awesome, i do one for my B17 HMR , and .22 Mag...i may need kinder thick spoon... thanks bro
Very clever idea...
I would buy some door hinges, drill a hole on the spoon handle and just attach on it with a screw and a nut.
very clever idea.nice one
Very cool!

Great idea i now have a project :-)
Why not fry to ha mar the spoons flat first.
Great idea, I wish this work for 22LR
This is awesome!
Would this also work for a bb gun?
bb's bounce and ricochet a lot, lead pellets less so - Lol!
bb's will ricochet a lot, lead pellets don't so much
Thank you..
sorry ma no more spoons.
HAHA great job :D
- just unbolt the rods, slide them out - simples!
Excellent !! ;-)

NICEJOB!!!!
thanks! I'm rubbish at promoting my vidz...
Has anyone used the Matrix quote "there is no spoon" in the comments? I also want to say something funny about Uri Geller and spoon bending...
you just did.... :-)
You realize one of these targets is like a measly 10 bucks at Walmart right 😂
