another idea i've found useful that commercial targets don't consider is collection. with my air rifle, i'm rarely missing. but if you have a silicon based background of some kind it'll stop most BB variants. for instance i slotted some sili'con cured rubber mold from a different project INSIDE a red bull can after cutting off the top. it passes through the can no problem them is caught by the silicon. it bounces off the silicon but loses the energy to exit. then I do the same behind all the can for any misses then discard shot BBs for the most part but atleast I know they don't l'itter the property for curious wild l'ife. cheers!
Kev below said the same thing. I remember the air gun target booths at the fair years ago! I love wooden tool boxes so have a quite extensive collection. They are expensive these days on ebay but I was lucky enough to get mine long ago. If you search back through my videos you will find some restoration stuff I did on some of them. Thanks for watching Nobby. Cheers, Alan.
@@RetroSteamTech I flew to the Birdsville races in the outback years ago and that was the last time I used an air rifle shooting gallery (side show with moving ducks). Everyone was blasting away in a drunken state and none of the ducks were falling over. At first I thought they were all really bad shots, but then realised they were shooting up yhe prizes hanging on the walls. He He teddy bears with one eye hanging out and multiple pellet holes through the chest etc. The stall owner was equally as drunk and didn't know it was happening. Wild days up there. It had it all, tent boxing, gambling, sideshows, hookers (with a line up) etc . Most people flew in with light planes same as us. Great days. Even won some money on the races in 41 C heat. Cheers Rob
@@Xynudu Sounds like great fun 👍👍👍 It wasn't until Kev mentioned it but I remember now similar spoon type targets at the fairgrounds. Mind you that was a very very long time ago 🤣
Hi Kev. Yes I remember the fairground spoon targets now you mention it. Since making the video both new targets have been used, lots of fun. Both will be having upgrades, the spinner needed lock nuts to stop the paddle arms coming loose. The "Gong" target is definitely getting a thicker plate. By the time we'd finished shooting it was much more like a dish than a flat plate! Cheers, Alan.

An excellent idea, I will have to try that.
Happy memories of the fair ground target booth Alan. I like your collection of engineers tool boxes. I'd love one of these. Cheers Nobby

Now you need to add a long string to reset the spoons from your shooting position, like in the fairground.
It would need to be a long string, outside we shoot from about 22m!
I suppose a row of moving ducks will be next Alan ;) Cheers Rob
🤣🤣 Now there's a thought Rob! Cheers, Alan.
