Before you criticize my plays in this video, just know I never claimed to be a great poker player haha. My goal is to show you guys what it’s like to play poker for a living. I’m very open with showing hands that make me look stupid, I think it’s important to show the ups and the downs.

    • @gwheels25

If he didn’t show, you’d never know whether it was good or not. Everyone in the comments is quick to criticize but it sucks to play for your whole stack (because I doubt V is giving up on the end) with a hand that can’t improve. May be a bad fold but just have to move on to the next

Being a pro means you will occasionally fold the best hand. That said, when the opponent looked back at his cards to check for a heart, I think that weights him to bluffs with the raise. It’s much more unlikely the player would do this with two hearts.

Can’t thank you enough for these vlogs - showing the good, bad and ugly. I got bluffed for a big pot last night in a spot where I NEVER should have folded. It was an ill conceived bluff, but I fell for it. Helps to know we’re not alone. We all make mistakes.

Lex, awesome Vlog, very well done! It is nice to see someone showing the mental fortitude it takes to move up and down stakes. We've all been there and it takes a lot to admit we get over our heads sometimes. Its just easier to chalk it up to variance or a little run bad instead of being honest with ourselves that its not time to move up yet. Keep up the great work! "Egos in check"

    • @fransfermont6193

The guy with the AK - when Lex had KK- extremely overplayed it.
If Lex min-clicks it back to 1/3 of his stack AK is the easiest fold in the world.
That is such a underbluffed spot, players just always have it there AA or KK, even when he blocked both with AK.

Here's what I saw: Good table selection, knowing yourself, recognizing your mindset, willing to make big folds and big calls when your instincts tell you to. Sure, they weren't all right in this video, but on another day every decision could have been correct in these exact spots.
You’re a solid player Lex, ride the swings and trust your game. Haters gonna hate.

Usually I like taking breaks when I feel I make a bunch of mistakes and/or run bad, but it sucks when you actually take a trip somewhere else, so kinda want/need to maximize that time for poker vs if you were staying in your city/apartment. Great vlog! Don't be too hard on your decisions. You had good reasons for making them and it is harder when you are not familiar with the players and their potential bluffing frequency. If this was his only bluff of the year, it was still right to fold a straight in that spot in a very tight game. Your best decision was to get up and move to a better table.

  • @whatever5575
    @whatever5575 2 года назад +2

reason that table one is so tough is they're willing to bluff to put you to the test. one can say they play in a balanced manner so that you can't tell whether they're strong or have two napkins.

Much love lex, love your videos, I think on that pocket 8s hand, if he had a nutted flush he would just flat call so he could milk you on the river. It wouldn’t make much sense to raise an already made flush unless it was a low one to protect from a 4th heart on the river. Most of the time his hand is gonna be exactly what it was, but if he was nutted he would want you to stay in the hand.

Been watching your videos for a while now lex, always has an interest in poker!
Played my first game at my local casino friday night, 1-1 no limit brought in for £350 hoping I'd end up in a spot for a double up to win more but the intention of leaving if I lost around £200
Allowed myself to be caught bluffing a few times and stacked a guy for a double up with a king high straight! The nerves were high but I played well, made some good calls, one with jack high and one with 9 high. I wanted to make myself look unorthodox to keep them all guessing. Cashed out for £796 after winning and losing a few pots after the double up... lost out with pocket kings to aces and lost a pot set over set then ran card dead for a while so decided to call it a day.
Is there any books you would advice to read to improve my game? As most of the players at the table new about equity and pot odds and were so much more advanced players than I thought they would be!

Hey Lex I think you do a great job being honest with yourself and us in these videos. My best advice to you is to study hard in all these spots for GTO as it gives you a solid benchmark, and from that you can then choose to deviate and make exploitative plays based on player reads etc. You just have too many spots where you don't know what to do and fluctuate based on all sorts of variables not relating to simple GTO. The GTO style will help you relax and build confidence in decision making. It's a lot of hard work, but you aren't the sort of guy to baulk at that, based on your previous success in things like wrestling and crossfit. Good Luck and keep at it.

When you're at the point where you're like if 1 more thing goes wrong I'm gonna lose it you in reality shouldn't even be at the poker table anymore... I'm glad the kings held up and that you dropped down in stakes... Here's the thing, Poker just like life is not a smooth even ride... You just need to make good decisions and live with the results... Way easier said than done...The problem for alot of players is when they lose they think they made the wrong decision or when they are shown the bluff...No you made a fold based on the information you had and poker vis a game of incomplete information and you're gonna make the wrong play alot over the course of your poker life... Just like real life...I do think playing where you're comfortable like alot of people have said makes a difference.. Time to head back to Florida but I think you're heading to Vegas...Either way unfortunately these decisions and losses can stick with you.. Shake it off and treat it as a lesson you had to pay for like education..If you learn from it then it was worth the price... Keep your head up... I'm sorry I've been negative towards you myself...I think you're better than you're playing... Now go get them! And like others have said let the game come to you and don't worry about the future or the past stay focused on the task at hand and the good results as a whole will come...1 last thing alot of people when they are very competitive like yourself see there life and identity in there wins and losses so when things are going bad they feel like they are a bad person and lose themselves in this great game we call poker...Remember in the end even though you are doing it 4 a living it's still a game and you're playing vs people that just wanna have fun sometimes and that can be frustrating... Try to learn to take some deep breathes and relax even when you're winning and keep your emotions under control.. Don't get to high or 2 low.. ✌

If he has it he would keep you in the hand as much as he can (pocket eights /straight hand)

Love your content Lex. You probably know this but I’ll say this anyways. Don’t be results oriented. Calling with the worst hand does not 🟰 a bad decision. I know it sucks and you are super competitive but don’t let that mentality poison your confidence. You got this dude!

The fold with pocket 8’s was a rly bad play. He easily could be turning the ace of hearts with any other face card into a semi bluff. There’s tons of combos of that. Not as many combos of value hands he’d be in there with the nut flush. Cant even really say this in hindsight. First time watching the hand it was a slam dunk call in my mind before seeing he had the ace queen.

Bad decision to raise w 4 liner to a straight w 88, but 3 to a flush. With 3-bet preflop, you gotta assume he has at least one big ❤️. You have good showdown value if a ❤️ doesn’t peel on river, you bet or bluff catch on river. What is he holding on turn that he can call with, only hands that have you beat. So if you’re not willing to face check-raise w that board, don’t bet. And don’t feel too bad, he still had 9 outs to flush to beat you. The A5 ♠️ hand vs KK, bad read to begin with calling 3-bet. Look like a genius if you flop flush, wheel but at best 2:1 dawg. Flop middle pair, but ends up 2nd to bottom pair and call? Lex even said in past common line w overpair is big bet, check, big bet. This dude went tricky, check, big bet 2x.

Lex, I went on a one month spree of terrible cards, terrible run outs, etc. hang in there and try to weather the storm losing the minimum. It WILL turn around. You’re a great player. When I’m my downturn, I studied a lot, and watched a lot of “how do I get through this” videos.

Usually when your opponent looks back at their cards when the flush comes, it means they are checking to see if they have one of those suits. If they had suited cards they wouldn't look back to check, just a thought.

Yo folding the straight to one raise is pretty tight man huge fan tho but yeah that was in your head on that one.I mean what card on the turn are you calling with it was the best card in the deck for you

The reason it looks like people are criticizing you is that when you guy add your commentary to this video or vlog is after the hands has been played and the section is over, which make your commentary sounds like a genius because you guy have the opportunity of hindsight which of course is 20/20. If you sound like a genius in your analysis after the fact and you are not making genius decisions or plays then your genius commentary is as a result subject to scrutiny, question and or criticized. Stay please bro and good luck. MAY YOUR CARDS BE LIVE AND YOUR POTS BE MONSTERS.... Mike Stetson

You're a much better player than me folding 88. I'd have been unable to discount the idea the opponent was bluffing with a naked heart. I'd have called and re-evaluated on the river at which point I'd end up finding out I was wrong.
