I definitely think the little punk kid who bullied the student with cancer should absolutely volunteer at a cancer center, to see the struggles they go through. As far as mom’s punishment though, while I agree with Dusty’s assessment that it’s prison, not enough to learn, I fully approve of her selling all his electronics (that she likely paid for) to help the student get a wig.
Island ports also charge massive penalties to cruise lines that overstay waiting on people to get back to the ship… Thousands of dollars per minute if they do not leave on time.
I agree cake OP is a brat and in the wrong, but I think Everyone Sucks Here for that. They can do lots of things that aren't cake for a birthday party if they don't like cake. For my ex I'd buy a loaf of bread and make a huge layered sandwich and put candles in it, because he preferred that rather than having a cake. The kid was rude and entitled, but the parents weren't listening and weren't making the birthday about their kid but what they wanted instead
seriously. them pushing for op to choose a cake flavor when he didnt want to eat any is just weird. pick the flavor yourselves then or make a cheesecake or something else. why is op being forced to choose a flavor when hes not participating in eating any? make it make sense. but still op being a entitled brat. everyones the ah.
The parents from the first story are ridiculous. They really expected the boat to wait for them.

Devils advocate on the shower guy - I think it depends on the shower. I never had a problem with my husband using the shower before me because it was a standard shower (7years). When we moved into our new home, the shower situation changed. It’s an open concept shower. You have to walk through the shower (2-3ft) to reach the shower head. So if it has been used, you are now walking on cold wet tile to reach the shower head. It is a weird textural thing. It is not a deal breaker for me, but it makes me reconsider going immediately after my husband. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk lol
I agree, that the kid with the cake could have handled it a lot better and different, but so could the parents. He said he's trying to make jealthier choices and cutting out sweet things like cake.
Now, I didn't choose to do so, but I was forced into such a diet, due to being diagnosed with diabetes recently. And I onow how hard and sometimes torturing it can be, when there are things around like cake, cupkakes, etc. and I know I can't have any. Now wether it is a mandatory or a chosen diet change, it is still difficult to stick to it. If the oarents want cake so bad, they can eat it every other day if the week. They can skip op's birthday for once... It's HIS birthday. I would not want to have to look the other way constantly and be made uncomfortable on MY birthday, just because everyone else expects there to be cake...
Again, it could have been handled a LOT better, but I do kinda understand op's initial request and reaction. And no matter how old the kid is, if you're gonna care enough to ask what they want on their birthday, then care enough to respect that wish... Or don't ask.
The parents with the lifestyle are delulu. I mean, if my parents were actually poor and could barely afford food and rent for a small place, of course I help. But having hundred of thousands in rent and cars and whatever and then asking for money with the reason of "we gave you this as a child, now you owe us". Wow, I'd go no contact.

I am so stymied by the shower guy. Realistically, there is no way to reason with that, and feel like this just needs to be chalked up to the irrationality that sometimes comes with the overheat of summer, and talk about it once everything and everyone has cooled down
I would have just responded well then sit criss cross apple sauce on the floor if you're so feeble that being wet will result in you instantly being hurled face down. The next time we have sex will you need a safety mat?

One of the many reasons why id never go on a cruise. Id be that AH who would run late and miss the boat.
They have alarms on watches and phones for a reason. Like it's not that hard.

The pregnancy loss. Depends on the medical procedure the Dad needed. My Dad needed a heart procedure, I wouldn’t make him wait for that while I’m losing a pregnancy very early on. An impending pregnancy loss won’t stop with an ultrasound. I think everyone sucks here. Sorry for your loss. I’ve experienced it as well.
