The production quality is half decent, the effects are dated, and the story is simple. But the video is still the perfect example of cozy early RUclips creativity. It's something I happily revisit about once a year, and a core memory for me. I hope someday TurboJ comes back to complete the series with a fourth video, ideally just the same quality and cozyness as the rest of the series. This is the kind of stuff I will be showing my kids someday
The Desk Railway, for its time, was one of the greatest stop motion series on RUclips. And TurboJUK was the creator behind the animation, special effects, and iconic characters that made up the eponymous business crew. This is The Trouble with Trains and The Desk Railway Chronicles.
Yeah, you even used one of the railway series, character whistles like Alfred. You use Alfred whistle yet he wasn’t even created yet. I mean he is a real Thomas character after all, he is a really serious character anyways so that makes him a real character. Same thing with 87546 and the red engine and a naughty engine named 98462 who is actually Alfred original number
In spite of being 16 years old, this and its sequels still makes me smile and I always have to come back and revisit it every so often (if you couldn't tell by the number of comments I've left over the years on this whole series). The nostalgia is unreal and this series was definitely a big part of my childhood. I'm working on collecting all the engines and characters that I can now as a matter of fact, hopefully someday I'll complete it (atleast as far as the main three TTWT episodes are concerned anyway)
Wow, other then the low video quality this is really good. This must have been one of the first LEGO stop motions on RUclips and it still holds up pretty well today. All that music from Thomas and LEGO island. Ahh, brings back memories...
That was actually Neon. It was a deleted scene of him putting blu-tack under the train to secure it, but I scrapped it because I messed it up. Neon still bears the marks of the string.
Gotta love TurboJ logic. First TTWT: Train rolls of track, hangs over edge, and falls on itself once: 3 Months to fix Second TTWT: Train collides with a car, derails and and practically FALLS APART: Fixed within the afternoon
TurboJUK Honestly it doesn't matter. As long as a short film has a good story and pulls you in to keep watching, it doesnt really matter how many petty mistakes there are. (And seeing as all three TTWTs did just that, I guess you could say you did something right.)
This is seven years old! I can't believe it, I can remember watching this when the video was only months old. The animation is still brilliant today. Now I'm going to watch them all again, for the third time :P
HANDS DOWN!!!! this is one off my favorite Lego videos cause at the time i was looking for "train adventures", and i stumbled upon the these master of films!! plus thx 2 these films it has inspired me to make some of my own soon!!! i will always have a spot in my heart and brain for these "Lego fan adventure films"... create imagine on on fellow animators and filmers.
I feel so old. I saw this a year after it came out. I loved it so much that I would watch it over and over! It's been, what, 8 years now? It's amazing that this has been up for 8 years!
i remember watching this a few years ago in 2014, i liked the series so much when i realised they had sequels in 2015 and binge watched them all on a cool summer night, those days are long gone but it was nice watching this series again.
when I was a kid I used to watch this series over and over again. so glad I finally found it again lol. defiantly the reason why I ended up with so many lego trains now too.
Same, with the added bonus that Lego trains are worth their weight in Gold. I just found out how much people are willing to pay for all the creator expert trains I got as a kid
ooooh the memories.. ive been passively searching for this series for some time now, and almost nearly forgotten about it. today is a good day, thank you!
Y'all ever start to feel nostalgic about something you hadn't seen before? I think it must be the old sets and the Lego Island music that's done it for me.
I had the tank engine version of the Lego 'KT404' train, the KT304-1. I remember seeing them in the giftshop at Legoland and chose green because there weren't any preview pictures of it in that colour. Happy memories, I did buy the blue tank engine several years later whilst they were still in production and I have no idea where they have gone now :(
After watching your series(multiple times), I have been inspired to follow in your footsteps to make my own creation. It's currently in the works, and won't be produced for a long, LONG time, but I'm trying to create a railway-themed brickfilm series a bit like this one(not a rip off of your stuff, just a slightly similar premise). I just wanted to let you know the impact your work has had on me, and how much I enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Stephen Cranmer man, coming back to this comment brought back some memories. I had laid the plans for the series and wrote up some storylines, planned the character progression and mapped out the entire railway and setting. But then, I suppose over time I realized just how difficult it would be to not only get started but to keep going and be motivated the entire time to put out A+ material. After looking back over some of the stories I had written, they weren’t the best. Not the worst, but nothing on the level that I’d be proud of today. I had several models built for engines and rolling stock I planned to use which evolved tremendously over time, though only a few still exist today. Seeing them on my shelf reminds me of what could’ve been and what may be someday. So, as it stands now, I’ve essentially put the series on indefinite hiatus without priority. It probably won’t be made in the end, unless I feel inspired enough and am able to network a team of voices and production assistants. I’m currently arms deep in another unrelated creative project entirely, so all my effort is going towards that. But, there’s always hope.
I remember watching this when I was six on our family computer and getting in trouble whenever the lady said,” Holy Crap” since that was a “bad word.” Good times.
This video series was the one that inspired me to take my parents' camcorder and make Lego videos. My first video I made was an ultra low quality remake of this made my 7 year old me back in 2010. I spent my childhood making Lego videos because of this series and I wouldn't change it for anything

hey wait a second... your comment... its been pinned! TurboJUK is still active!!!!
The Desk Railway Chronicles is the continuation. Only 2 episodes though.

15 years later this still holds up very well.
I'm watching this video and now it's 17 years ago
17 years later, it’s a burst of nostalgia for sure. Absolutely loved wonderful all these years later and it still holds up
Ah yes, The 'The Trouble with Trains' trilogy, one of the best videos ever made in 2006.

If you remember this you qualify for a veteran account.

I remember this so well. A real classic.
CHILDHOOD RIGHT HERE
Hell yeah
Hell yeah

Same :)
This better than the later seasons of thomas the tank engine
I'll never grow out of Thomas. It rocks.
Besides, not all of the sounds are from Thomas.

And I never grow up without Thomas either. I started in 1991 was only two. Still to this day
You need to comeback man.
Nothing worse than a train wreck, good lego work...'rolling stock'
What Do you mean Leokimvideo
OMG LEO

too true

scottthewaterwarrior in the second one he has axel F and Thomas.:. Ahh memories
Jesus christ the nostalgia. I watched these as much as I did TV and now I'm an adult. How time flies.
Me too
I was in kindergarten when I first saw this, now I'm a freshman in collage. It's good to see that this is still up after all these years.
That was actually Neon. It was a deleted scene of him putting blu-tack under the train to secure it, but I scrapped it because I messed it up. Neon still bears the marks of the string.

It's the same sort of logic that meant in TTWT2 Bessie couldn't pull a single overloaded coach after previously pulling two normally loaded coaches.
TurboJUK Honestly it doesn't matter. As long as a short film has a good story and pulls you in to keep watching, it doesnt really matter how many petty mistakes there are. (And seeing as all three TTWTs did just that, I guess you could say you did something right.)
Logan Piper You'd like an update? Here, have an update. ruclips.net/video/iMtoGZGNfdA/видео.html You're welcome. :)
@@TurboJUKI'm working on a remake of the trilogy in Trainz. I'll have Bessie take the Metroliners coaches instead of the one coach

Very nostalgiac

sfoular73 9.
+LMGbros 772 Correction! 9 years, thank you. XD
Lol, you're welcome.
Nice
The steam engine is set KT404.
The Metroliner is set 10001 (the 'Legends' release. Its original number is 4558, but that's pretty rare).
It was a part of the My Own Train section of Lego Trains. I always wanted a steam engine on my layout, and that was the first.
I seriously can’t believe this was made a month after I was born, the humor back then was just as great as it is today
I’m glad these are still here. Since Middle School.
Bro the nostalgia is real here, this is the real deal
When I was a kid I remembered watching Trouble with Trains episodes like trilogies in each films in my childhood!
I watched this years ago, then sadly could never find it until now. Im so happy!!!!

16 years later it's still my favourite series on RUclips
15 years man were closer to 2030 than we are 2006
Best series on RUclips hands down!
This viedo is so awesome! It proves that good media requires good script, good acting, and a good story.
13 years later this video still holds up today
Man its hard to believeagiant part of my childhood is both older then me and still bloody fantastic
This is great! I love your series.

I love the entirely emotionless narration he gives, really adds something
Remember watching this is a kid this is nostalgic as hell man those were the days
