My goodness, nearly everything he said in this video I played when I was a kid. I used to be really glued to the Unstoppable game a lot. Really good memories.
I'm amazed at how many of these games I remember playing, particularly the Thomas stuff, Train Traffic Control, Build The Bridge and especially Railroad Rampage.
Anyone remember a Trippy ass train game that was called something like "Trainwreck pinball"? It had animations for it, and other things. Basically the premise is a conductor is driving to the steam train, which is only in the engine, and the bridge gives out. So then it turns into some sort of platformer, and I'm pretty sure there was absolutely no pinball like elements for launch it, only bouncing around from different places. It has like 20 levels, 5 per area. When was this water type area by the bridge, and another was literally outer space, and you use black holes to help move around. You used your mouse as control for a bit of it. 3D animations, and honestly the lack of care put into what the conductor look like probably should have been nightmare fuel but me and my brother just laughed at at the whole time.
Nostalgia went full throttle here with these games. I'm a Y2K baby. (6/24/2000) and man this really took me back to the old days. I'd give anything to relive those moments namely with the old Thomas website, any of the 2 bridge games (Mini train & Build the Bridge) and Rails of war. I never officially got the full version unfortunately and I regret that now but Skies of War its sister game I both got the full version it in any way possible and was VERY addicting. Railroad Rampage too was another I played but didn't do much.
Ahh yes, Rail of war. Back when I was a kid I printed out screenshots of the game then cut out the trains, rails and enemies then arranged and them into epic battle scenes. I still like to write about armored battle trains even today. Not sure how a flash game has stuck around in my brain for so long but here we are :)
Holy crap I completely forgot about those games I played on the Thomas the Tank Engine site! Thanks for unlocking those memories! And of course Railway Valley was my favorite game for a while, so I remember it well. I played it all the time in middle school.
I've played just about all of these, and still play ROW today. Funny how the official website is broken so you can only play the full version via a cracked RUclips download. A fantastic trip down memory lane!
@@radtrainlord8126 btw i also recommend you run the game in windows vista (service pack 2) compatibility mode, otherwise the game sometimes corrupts your save files.
I remember on the old LEGO website there was a troubleshooting guide for their city trains, and silly 6 year old me thought it was some sort of game, so I’d spend good amounts of time “playing” the lego train troubleshooting guide on my mom’s laptop.
Honestly thank you for doing this video. The flash games from the Thomas & Friends website were part of my childhood. I still hear that crusty and compressed audio file of the children cheering at 2:36 every once and a while.
I absolutely loved Mini train as a kid. I especially loved the fact that after the train crashes you could move the blocks about and cause even more damage to the train.
I remember Train Mania, it was a fun little game. I enjoyed it when I was bored during class in community college and just wanted to have some fun while I was waiting for the class to end since I'd finished the assignment.. Rails of War looks so cool! Might see about finding a way to play it
Dang the thomas and friends stuff…. the amount of times i raced and put duncan together is wild, plus i had duplo thomas and percy so that unlocked so many core memories that i didn’t think this would would
Damn, I completely forgot about the Thomas flash games. You somehow unlocked some memories of playing them on my (now potato) 2009 Windows 7 laptop. Most of the other ones like Train Mania and Train Traffic Controller I would play on some sketchy ass website when 7 year old me would type into the search bar “train games” and click on the first link that came up.
That Thomas and Friends game as well as the two train bridge games and the train mania game awoke memories within me that I wasn’t ready for. I don’t remember if the Thomas game was on the website or the DVD bonus features, either way, the nostalgia hit hard, especially with that build a Duncan game lol.
Oh gosh, when you were going over the old Thomas the tank engine flash games it hit me with a massive nostalgia wave. I remember when I was younger my dad’s office was on the main level in the living room and he had a big pc and monitor. My brother and I would play those Thomas games for hours until my dad needed it again. I loved the click n drag ones the best or the train racing one, those were the good old days. I also remember Choo Choons, trains mania and build a bridge, I played all three of them on a game website called friv back in elementary in 5th grade in the computer lab.
1:05: Sakuya fumo sighting! I also liked that *pichuun* after that one segment. Incidentally, one of Yukari Yakumo's spell cards involves a typical Japanese commuter train. Now as a child of the 90s, my main game, besides Civilization and Master of Orion, was Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon. Also tried the original A-Train and couldn't figure out how that one was supposed to work.
Thanks for bringing back all these Flash Game memories Jared, Thomas and Friends site back in 2007-2009 was the BOMB, same with Mini Train, Happy Wheels and Ultimate Flash Sonic of course, lol. And nice! Train Mania's title screen is literally the Prairie Dog Central's Number 3 !
Omg dude I just randomly remembered an old flash game where you control a train with heavy weapons. My first google search I find this video!! Rail of War unlocks early memories of exploring the web as a kid, thank u!
I played most of these games. I used to play choo choons,Unstoppable (When the game came out) Train Mania, All of the Japanese Train Simulators, Thomas and Friends the 2005 ver as a little kid who was just 4 years old.
I almost forgot what the old Thomas and Friends website looked like. I use to play it a lot when I was a kid, like, everyday, until the site was updated and removed most things. Thank you for bringing me back memories of my childhood
Wow, I clicked on the video because I recognized Rail of War in the thumbnail (though I remembered “Rails of War”), but it turns out I remember playing all of these. Every single one. Nice wrapup, very nostalgic.
Rail of War was THE BOMB ( pun not intended ) in the computer classes back in 3rd grade, especially if you always went on the same one your progress wouldve been saved. Loved this.

Omg thank you for helping me remember long forgotten days, I can just about now remember the Thomas and friends website games and Train mania ahh the nostalgia. This is awesome.
That was a nostalgic video, good job! I swear there used to be one called coal express, there was 5 versions of the game and the aim was to keep the coal in your 5 wagons as you go along uneven track
This video unlocked some incredibly deep memories. I played almost every single game on this list. Hilarious how you pegged all of these exactly!!! Very rare that a video like this does that. One That I played that you never mentioned was “off the rails” a platformer by Nitrome Games where you play as two jumping beans that have to pump a handcar through a level while avoiding obstacles, monsters, and other trains. There was another game they put out called Skywire where it was similar but you drove an aerial cable car. They actually made 3 total skywire games to my knowledge. Check them both out for your part 2!
Ok... 2 things: 1) As an almost-40 year old, it's nice... and at times very frightening... to see young people continuing the hobby of everything and or anything Railfanning. 2) By mentioning your age, you might not be aware of the small but interesting & weird run of pre-Trainz/MSTS?Dovetail Railroad games & Simulators, and Planning programs. I mean, obbiously there was some of the Japanese station start/stop games. Atlas had it's own track planning software that came with libraries of most things that were in the Walthers catalogs (buildings and track-wise), which was a lot of fun for being Freeware. Then there's all the different programs and games that there were Ads for in Trains Magazine going back to the mid-to-late 1980's. (Back when I was but a wee lad. One of the first things I ever saw that made me want a computer.)) If someone's done a video cataloging all that..... *coughtimeforatrainprogramicebergcough*.... then damn. bro i remember yeeting the mini train around just for fun lmao. I also used to play build the bridge. Train mania i think was my favourite lol. The also other vehicle versions of train mania. I do remember playing rail of war but i never really got far in it. This video was an absolute nostalgia roller coaster. Thank you I also remember one realistic looking one with a train that had a train driver with a moustache looking out through the window and you had to build a bridge for it to ride through, although that one is a bit blurred of a memory
Holy crap, I’m glad you talked about mini train as it was one of my favorite games when I was younger. I would always play it during computer class. Same with build the bridge.
I think I vaguely remember the Thomas game but rail of war!? That was awesome! It was on mini clip and I played it a lot with my dad and sister. Trying to get through all the levels. I want to play that again now lol. Thanks for the nostalgic video!
An excellent video that hit home with me, personally. This video actually uncovered a few of these old games that I actually remember, quite possibly, visiting back in the days of school computer labs. I grew up with these sorts of online-based Flash games (Rail of War, Unstoppable, and maybe a few other train games you haven't seen before) but I found them through a unique website that was solely based on train-related games and other things. If anyone can share this website, archive or active domain, I'd definitely look to see if those flash games are still executable using Supernova. On another note, I think you should take a look at some mobile games that are based around, or include in a large degree of, trains. Mobile games were what made up a good half of my past gaming profile, with my iPad 5 now being phased into obsolescence and unsupported for virtually everything this year, I would love to see some of the old apps I used to download showcased. If you wanted footage of some old apps I could simply record my device, externally (iOS 10 doesn't support screen recording), running some of the apps that are no longer available on the app store... Considering they'll still run, of course.
Of all the games in this cavalcade of pure nostalgia, none of these games is more deserving of a rerelease/revival than "Rail of War". That game had some killer potential for just being an on-rails (haha) shoot-em-up themed around war trains, which actually were a thing that saw combat. I would happily pay $10-20 for a full version with like 15 trains and just as many levels. It's all there! It just needs someone to bring it to life!
Man, Happy Wheels really takes me back to 2012 when my friend introduced me to it in high school. And don't get me started on those Thomas flash games.

Ah Build the Bridge. What memories. I never tried to complete it how you were supposed to. Jumps where one of the tenders flips over and continues and flinging the bombs as hard as I could to try and get the bombs to land on the train when it was moving.
Mining Truck 2, despite the name, is a pretty fun train game of sorts. You drive a little trolly on rails and have to deliver various goods - crates, oil, logs, rocks, treasure - to the end of the level, and there are upgrade and unlockables you can find for your trolly. It's a good time, methinks. It's made by the same guy who made Zombitron, and I really like the art style of his games.
