@@Hyce777 Yeah, I know that you know. ;) On the bright side I had some great laughs. Hyce: Removes the "piston tanks" from the sides of the engine. Hyce later: "This is just wrong! You can't just remove the cylinder chest from an engine!" Actually, Hyce, you didn't remove the cylinder chest. It never had one. There was nothing in the middle between those cylinders to remove.

They do have a sequel planned, and I'm not holding onto too much hope, but I'm just praying for them to have learned their mistakes.
2:51:02 i own a truck with one of those motors. I don't own an impact wrench. Six of the eight broke. It was a 14 hour job to replace the eight plugs with the special tool set.
I once worked on the brakes of a mercedes truck. they got springloads on the rear axle and for the brackets to get off you need to safelock them by compressing them. i did that at the very beginning. as i unscrewed at once that fat springbox just flew through the pit, missing me by what felt like mm. turns out the offbrand spring boxes it had were locking counter clockwise and they never drove with a functioning right rear brake. i thereby spring-loaded the system and made myself a 20kilo canon ball, breaking a big chunk out of the wall behind me.

Hyce: "it's so bad, so for the next 4 hours, I'm bringing this bad game to you" :) And I can relate, sometimes bad enough is really good! MST3K comes to mind.
I have to feel most of the source of Hyce's outrage is the inaccuracy of the parts and such. Most casual users wouldn't notice and just think "I'm replacing parts on a train, what fun!" and have a good time. The fact the parts are misnamed would not affect the enjoyment. It may be inauthentic but so is battling a dragon or running around with a squad of skeletons.
Concerning story No. 1: Don't you have/use/know/like what we call "auxilliary bogies" over here? Basically it's a steel frame with very small wheels, so it has a very low height. You crank the axle which can't or mustn't be used up by what I'll guess are maybe 15, 20 centimetres, put that bogie under it and let the axle down again, fixing it to the auxilliary bogie. This way you get the vehicle in question going in virtually no time at all. It's limited to 40 km/h, but that's perfectly good enough to get it moved to the next shop. Sounds easier and safer than greasing the rail or changing the axle in the middle of nowhere, if you ask me 🤔 If that system is unknown on your side of the pond the query "Hilfsdrehgestell" here on RUclips delivers some nice examples.
@@Hyce777 Hm, yes I guess you'd rarely need to transport an engine for more than, let's say, some 500-600 km to get it to an adequate shop around here. That's probably often more in the US. That might be the biggest problem with that solution, I'd guess - the axle load should be something one could work around with a somewhat stronger construction. From what I know (correct me, if I'm wrong) the maximum axle load of American locos is somewhere around 32 metric tons? That'd be around 50% more than what's common here; most European railways are somewhere in the D range (86% of the German network is in D4, for example) which allows for 22.5 metric tons per axle, with most engines being somewhere around 21t per axle, so they can use some lighter tracks, too.
Fun fact, that diesel horn that you hate so much is very much a real horn. It's Canadian National FP9A 6520's... Uhh... K3H I believe? So yes, it is an actual horn on a real locomotive. Well, that is, if Canada is indeed real...

Coworker a grinder that wasn't grounded. So as he kept working with it, that fine metallic dust kept building up on the inside. He noticed that it'd sometimes zap him a little whenever he'd start it but thought it was nothing serious. Well one day he grabbed the thing, turned it on, and it shocked him so bad that he dropped it... while it was still running. It landed on his inner thigh. About 2-3in higher and he'd have lopped off his dick. Luckily for him, me and a couple of coworkers are volunteer firefighters so we patched him up best we could while waiting for the ambulance. He ended up fine. I don't remember how many stitches he got, and he'll probably have a scar for the rest of his life, but he's fine now.

The non-offset rod journal in a V engine thing is more of a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke deal than automotive vs locomotive engine deal as far as I know. I say this because I do know for sure that the Detroit V 53, 71 and 92 2 stroke diesels (think baby EMD as far as the overall functional design) all use straight rod journals for each opposing pair of cylinders whereas a 4 stroke V block truck diesel like a 555 or 903 Cummins uses offset rod journals like you’d find in your average gas or diesel 4 stroke V8 in a car or pickup. HYCE is still correct in everything he says here, I was just bringing this up more as a point of conversation. I would assume a 4 stroke GE or ALCO diesel power plant in a V configuration would use offset journals as well but I can’t say for sure as I’ve never seen the insides of one.
