Shereene, I really want to thank you for speaking up about the effects of facial insecurity on mental health. After going through a heart transplant and tons of prednisone, my face has become horrendous. Everybody says “don’t worry about your face, what matters is that you’re alive” and no, I can’t accept it and be happy, so I am getting a facelift, because my mental health depends on it. You comment made me cry, I finally feel like someone understands my struggle. Bisous de Paris ! 🇫🇷
I know how do you feel. I have been having 21 years of extra time because a medicine, it produce lipodistrophia…my beautiful legs are No beautiful but I still can walk over the wall my big chicks were looking like a mummy and of course it makes me look older. I found out how to improve my legs and bud appearance and lately found out that my insurance cover a medication that can refill my face, it works slowly but it works! So all this things took a while fighting with my feel that I was the ugliest and unattractive women. In the mean time I have psychological help. Keep focus in the main thing: you are alive and believe me and love you as a survivor! You still have a mission to accomplish!
Your chances that you didn't need a heart transplant are 90%. It was done for profit. $1.2 million per organ per 5 years. Usually b complex does the job.
Christ I was given prednisolone to help with severe lung inflammation. Girl, I feel you. I was only on it for a few weeks but I look like the moon from the mighty boosh. Good for you for taking control and taking your life back. You're strong x
@@pingu3984 thank you for this, I did get my facelift a year ago, and I am so incredibly happy and proud I went through with it, despite my whole medical team being horrified.
I take tranexamic acid on a monthly basis for my extremely heavy periods due an inherited bleeding disorder (severe factor 7 deficiency). I also have to have it for any procedure I have that involves blood. Before I was diagnosed and put on tranexamic acid, my period blood loss was beyond ridiculous, I lost soooo much blood every month and went anaemic every time. After I went on tranexamic acid, it cut my blood loss in literal half and half again, and I was able to function and live daily life like normal. It's honestly a life-saving drug. Coincidentally, I've never had melasma.. 🎉
Hi Dr. Shereene! I am from the Philippines. The vast majority of people's skin tone here is on the darker side. Unfortunately, we still have the mentality that white skin is more beautiful. Hence, a lot of local brands come up with glutathione products. Would love to know the science behind it, if it is safe and effective. If so, please let us know your recommendations. I know that this isn't a major concern for most of your followers but it'd be great if you could enlighten us about this. Thank you!
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that is naturally occurring in the human body. There are studies showing that when applied topically, it works as a tyrosinase inhibitor, much like Vitamin C and Tranexamic acid. However, I believe the dangerous trend here in South East Asia (which I'm not sure if Dr Shereene is aware of) is to have it taken internally into the body - either by injection or oral means without it being regulated or administered by a licensed medical practitioner. This has been shown to cause liver damage, among other side effects. I might have gotten caught up in that trend myself a couple of years ago. 🙈 Luckily a friend warned me against it and I stopped taking it.
I also like this topic, but not for whitening. I already have fair skin, but I have atopic dermatitis, and I once bought a package of gluta drip with Vit. C. They said it can help because of its a powerful antioxidant. I can't say if it worked because I was also using a few moisturizing and sealing products.
@@teegee633 you're very sweet to comment, but its definitely just plain old fat problems because my thighs rub together and my underarms is because I get ingrown hairs - probably because there's not a lot of air there. I do a medical every year. I am going to try limit carbs and sugar anyway because I'm tired of being overweight. It's not as fun as people make it out to be lol
I have found Tranex Dear Serum: It has really helped to start shift my melasma. I have finished one bottle and have definitely seen an improvement. The ingredient list is : Tranexamic Acid (5%), Kojic Acid (5%), Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid and Licorice.
@@lucyegan5025 You can use this serum right after you wash your face at night. I wash my face, use a watery hyaluronic acid serum (I use The Ordinary) for hydration and after that I put the DearSkin. You can finish with moisturizer and be done or continue to add other actives like azeliac acid and alpha arbutin from The Ordinary.
Once again. your knowledge & how you present a subject is fantastic. You really help so many people who cannot afford to go see a Dermatologist or live in areas where they are unavailable.
easy answer NEVER MIX COPPER PEPTIDES WITH VIT C I use it after microneedling. GKU is the brand I use but ordinary has a less expensive one. since I use vit C inbthe morning I use copper at night. about 2 nights a week ibdont use tret or my maelove retinaldyhyde and do pretty much 6bdiffwrent K essences and my serums
I love that I saw my dermatologist today and she recommended adding TXA to my routine, so of course I run straight to your channel to hear your thoughts- LOVE that they align together!! She said the same about Topicals Faded- smelly but good. Thank you for being amazing, informative and straight with us ❤
Two products worth considering that both have 3% tranexamic acid: Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum (30 mL for $12 or 75 mL for $25) and Regimen Lab Level Serum (30 mL for $42, $36 on subscription). The Good Molecules one is actually marketed in part for melasma. The Regimen Lab one is I think a good alternative to the Topicals Faded product if you want to throw the kitchen sink at your hyperpigmentation but don't like the smell. I've used and loved them both. The Regimen Lab serum has been a staple in my routine for the last year and has made a huge difference in how my skin recovers from an acne flair, and one bottle lasts more than 3 months.
Thank you so much for continuously talking about melasma! I have melasma that comes and goes, and I just woke up with yet another flare up 2 days ago (after a few weeks of clear skin). It really can get discouraging at times, but your channel is my go-to for some words of encouragement!
I mean, absolutely. I am an aesthetician and suffer from melisma on my cheeks since 2013, I’ve cycled products. My own body heat and my own health issues contribute, no matter how healthy or anti inflammatory. So I appreciate your honesty surrounding the nature of this disorder.
Thanks for the educational review. I've been a TXA fan for a while and tried a few. Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Tone Brightening Capsule ampoule is my favourite so far. TXA is high up on the ingredient list and no HA (I'm a beta-glucan convertee)! Plus the bottle is HUGE and super affordable. I mix with Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep serum (rice bran and alpha-arbutin, and again no HA!) and love the results from the combination
I have melasma from Addison's disease. This is the first time I've heard that tranexamic acid could be taken orally. Thank you SO much for being a breath of fresh air on RUclips! I don't need to watch other channels, because I have the expert doctor to watch!!❤❤
I have tons of hyperpigmentation from Addisons myself. I have been watching her melasma/hyperpigmentation videos for any product recs to help me tackle it. I hate getting any wound on my skin because I know it's going to go dark. Just wanted to leave a comment to say you're not alone, and if you've found something that works I'd love a couple of recommendations.
@@Cheyenne0228 Oh I feel your pain! My latest patches showed up during the winter months when I was not even going outside much.🙄 Dr. Idriss is the only influencer that has mentioned this disease and this issue. I live in the US, where I have been able to still find OTC products with 2% hydroquinoe in them. Nothing else works on my dark spots, and I have tried EVERYTHING!! I can get 4% hydroquinone from the dermatologist, but the prescription is usually very expensive. I have been thrilled with the product I'm using, Ambi cream. The most important thing is to take a break from it every three months or so!
Love your pillow talk! I have been nanoneedling, not microneedling, with a very inexpensive product from Cos de Baha. It is a 5% Tranexamic acid and 5% niacinamide hyaluronic acid. Those are the only three ingredients in it. I do add a couple of drops of glycerin for some extra hydration. It has done wonders for my hyperpigmentation, melasma and rosacea. I feel like I'm just getting a better absorption when I nano needle it in. Tranexamic acid is really amazing stuff!
I love hearing about the history of skincare ingredients, including tranexamic acid. The Faded serum from Topicals is one of the most effective products I’ve ever used to address my PIH and tendency to get hyperpigmentation on my arms/legs with any little cut or mark on my arm (which is super noticeable because I’m pale). It’s also been really helpful as a preventative when I get a new cut on my leg (like when my cat scratches me) because it helps speed up healing time and prevents hyperpigmentation. It’s a pretty great price for how effective it’s been for me and the amount you get. I haven’t had great reactions to retinol/retinoids, but my skin loves tranexamic acid and I’m so happy to have discovered it.
Thank you for talking about the emotional stress about melasma. I am in my early 40s and have melasma. I spent over $10k in treatments: cosmelan peel, VI peels, clear and brillance laser, microneedling with PRP and nothing helped. I stopped taking birth control pill because the dermatologist I was seeing said that might be the cause of it but no, that didn't clear it either. I have used thr Topicals cream, yes it does smell weird but it does not bother me. It is very smooth, emollient and does not pill. In my 20s I suffered from acne and that was embarrassing also. I guess the skin gods don't like me 😔😢😭
My latest was a CO2 last year for hyperpigmentation and patchy melisma. Looked promising, but it was just time for resurfacing. Also, did the same with Prp micrneeding and other peels. Not to mention all the money on high priced skin products. I am going to give the transexamic acid a try now!
The brand Naturium has 2 Tranexamic acid 5% products that are both great and are $20 and $22. They’ve helped with my melasma so much! Thanks for all this great information :)
@@covecarrington3332 I‘ve been using the the alpha arbutin and tranexamic acid serums for 6 months now. I began to see a difference within 2 months using them combined. I think using the multi bright product that already combined to two might be easier and will be my next purchase!
It is good to see you without heavy make-up, you look fabulous this morning. I would love to hear your comments on how to incorporate various ingredients together to avoid over-correction or skin damage, in the meantime, the ingredients can help each other to achieve our goal - fighting malasma. For example, my dermatologist proscribed me Hydroquinone 4% and Tretinoin Cream, USP 0.05%, they can be used together at night. In the morning, I use SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic + Paula's choice 10% Azelaic Acid (hopefully Azelaic acid can help the expensive SkinCeuticlas product maximize its efficacy). I really want to incorporate Tranexamic Acid to my routine, but do not want to over-do it to cause skin damage.
In case it's helpful, this is what I do. FYI I have rosacea, acne-prone skin and melasma. Morning - Vit C (SkinCeuticals) and Tranexemic Acid serum (Currently using the Aspect Dr Pigment one). At night I do a Vit B serum, then azaelic acid and a retinoid (I use differin). I am currently taking a break from Hydroquinone (which I do every 3 months) but I would use that in the morning after the Tranexemic Acid serum and before moisturiser/sunscreen. However, your hydroquinone is prescription so it would be stronger than the one I was using (which you can buy OTC here in Australia). You could do the same as me and use the Tranexemic Acid when you take a break from hydroquinone if you find introducing it too strong. I take a break one or two nights a week from the retinoid and I also use a thick cream like la roche posay Cicaplast Baume B5 to finish my night time skin care. I always watch how my skin is reacting and if I notice too much redness or dryness I back off - usually the drying products like retinoid or AHA/BHA (which I only use 1-2 times a week at most). But your derm would be a good person to ask these questions of!
LOVE your let's get intimate series🧡 You cover everything in one video instead of doing 10000 videos on the same subject like those hanky panky youtubers.
Thank you for always posting amazing content! I was wondering if you could do a video on body hyperpigmentation and the ways to treat it? I have hyperpigmentation on my shoulders caused by friction and I can’t seem to get rid of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The Murad serum really helped my melasma when I was super depressed about it. It acted quickly within 3 months I could see my face again. I couldn’t believe it when it happened, but I’m a professional surfer so I thought it was sun related! I still have some and haven’t been able to afford another bottle at $80. I might try the Faded serum as it’s more affordable.
Topicals Faded actually recently reformulated. It does not have a horrible sulfur smell anymore. I was pleasantly surprised. I’m on my fourth tube and this latest one was the reformulation. I am much happier with the smell now. 💕 Love you and your channel. Maybe one day I can come visit you in your office for some treatments ❤️
Hi , how is your experience with Faded cream ? I used one tube haven’t seen much improvement but my melasma is really stubborn so don’t know to buy another one or not !
@mumof4132 Skin cell turnover takes at least 28 days and will increase as you age. I totally think you should get another tube. You may not see results for a couple of months. I think I really started to see a difference on my 3rd tube.
@mariamhusain5857 I use it in my nightly routine. They suggest not using it with retinol or acids in the beginning. I am able to use it with both now. I also don't have sensitive skin. I suggest using it on the nights you are taking a break from retinol, though.
Is there anything I can do to lessen the appearance, redness of broken capillaries on my face? It happened when I gave birth many years ago, but really bothers me.
IPL (intense pulsed light) at a professional clinic or from an at-home device (make sure it's from a trusted producer!), other than that, azelaic acid is good for reducing redness all-over.
Thank you for continuing to talk about this. Melasma is so frustrating. I tried many products recommended by my Dr and some not before they finally put me on oral Tranexamic acid. Since using it I am seeing a difference. It's not completely clear but so much better. I still use spf daily as well as retinol and am currently also using hq. Having used hq before with no big change I know it was the Tranexamic acid that really helped this time.
The Chemist Confessions Gold Standard is awesome while also being gentle… Gloria from CC specialized in acid peel development when they were working at L’Oréal, and I’m always floored at how it gives amazing fast results without irritating my skin… IMO it is masterfully formulated and gentler on my skin than products I’ve used with much smaller acid percentages. Unless you’re over-exfoliating, failing to follow the usage instructions, or need a better moisturizer/sunscreen, I can't imagine the average person having any issues with it.
Please ship to Europe (Norway). 🙏Many of the products you mention are’nt available in Europe, and the site of «shop my shelf» don’t ship to Europe (we also have to pay taxes…) REALLY looking forward to your skincare line! 👏👏👏 Also wondering if you need Alpha Arbutin in addition to tranexamic acid and the other ingredients to tackle melasma? I have azelaic acid 15%, retinol, aha, and vit C with tranexamic acid and want to buy Discloration.
What do you think about hydrofacvials? Also, could you do a video on what acids/vitamins/peptides etc. we should not mix in the same face routine? Thanx :) Your videos are golden :)
Thank you so much for posting this! I used to drink tranexamic acid for my periods, but at the moment I'm having mefenamic acid. Looking forward to learn lots!
Can you provide some routine steps for melasma? I will follow it! I never know if it’s okay to use more than one active per night so I feel like I’m slowing down potential benefits
Hi! Is at home IPL a good way to manage hair removal at home? Shaving/waxing causes SO many ingrown hairs. I’ve seen the Braun IPL and people say it helps. Advice?
hi dr. another helpful video so thank you. i have been using naturiums TXA 5% with kojic acid, niacinamide and licorice root for a year now and l've had great success. however, my melasama was mild in light (HA!) of how ghastly it can be. also, i noticed your 'happy' bracelet and my dog, whom i love absolutely, is named happy! so yay! have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for all of these informative videos, presented in such an entertaining way. I have only found an extremely short video of yours mentioning the Sculptra product (injectable), but there is a whole line of products called Sculplla supposedly based on this same basic principal. For home use by us ordinary folks. There is a Sculplla 'mask' that is for licensed estheticians only, but these other products in that line can be purchased for use by anyone. The company has recently changed their name to House of PLLA. These products (supposedly) use facial hair as a means of absorbing below the skin to help build collagen.
To confirm, TXA would be used along with OR instead of hydroquinone? Current night routine is double cleanse, GA, hydroquinone, tretinoin, moisturizer. As always, thanks for taking my skin back to fetus status!
I love GA but I hear time and time again not to use it right before a retinoid/retinol; I have probably built up enough tolerance at this point (but I'm not really sure). I'm curious, do you space out your application of GA and tretinoin? Did you consciously build a tolerance? Do you use them together without any issue? And also, do you know if GA breaks down tretinoin (is tretinoin encapsulated retinoid???) thank you in advance if you can offer advice! 🥰
@@NotesNNotes Hello! I've been following this night routine, per Dr. Idriss' reco, for two years. Every step, without fail. My face, neck and tits? Spectacular as a result! Guess what? Yours can too! I definitely built up tolerance by applying 2x/week but I've found that GA, 3x/week is more than enough. Tretinoin, every day. I don't add time/wait between product application. A thin layer of Vaseline around the eyes as a barrier between skin and Tretinoin has been helpful. Should go without saying, SPF always in all ways - my personal preference is Elta MD, BS 46.
This was so interesting! Is tranexamic acid meant to be used only in the context of melasma? I was under the impression it could be used for PIH as well
I would love for you to talk about hydroquinone in depth given the fear mongering around it! I personally think it is an important ingredient. What your thoughts as a dermatologist are, I know you like it. But talking about its history, its utility, how it plays differently if so in skin of colour (big movement on it 'bleaching' the skin and playing into the colorism story). Thanks! Love you and your videos xx
I use them both every day with no irritation and I have rosacea. I have found Azaleic Acid (i use 20%) to not be irritating and has helped my rosacea so much.
I use Tranxemic acid inkey list one twice in a day without any issues and have seen a huge improvement in my melasma! I also used higher percentage of Tranxemic acid (the facetheory) and it made my melams dark so I think higher percentage irritated my skin where as lower percentage suit my skin! Hope this helps I’m not a fan of Azelaic acid, used a few different products and it made my skin irritated and melasma dark
They can even be formulated together in the same product. Agency's Future Formula, a prescription product, will formulate four ingredients together, and mine had tretinoin 0.05%, tranexamic acid 5%, niacinamide 4%, and dexpanthenol but I can't remember the percentage of that.
About oral tranexamic acid, it has certainly the best results, but when stopped melasma comes back. The prescription is for two months, but how often is it safe repeat that?
I always enjoy your videos. You’re so thorough and informative. I battle hyperpigmentation and have used very good products but not enough. I also had a stroke last year so while I would not take this internally, would it be ok to use topically?
I'm using the Kose tranexamic acid masks, and I do indeed see results. What do you think of them? Do you know the percentage of tranexamic acid in them? Also, I've noticed you didn't talk about any wrongful side-effects it could have. Do we have to be careful when we use it, like with retinol or vitamin C? How long can we use it consecutively, do we have to take breaks?
Merci pour la vidéo et de partager ton savoir avec nous. J’apprécie bcp le fait que tu intègres les femmes enceintes dans ton discours en expliquant ce qu’on a le droit de prendre et ce qu’on n’a pas le droit. 🤗 Grand merci!
It has saved women and men's lives. It is used for a wide range of situations. For politrauma, for scheduled surgery when clinical conditions allow and the surgery is to be a bleeding one. I am an anesthesiologist, and I give it to my patients every day. It is cheap and ubiquotous
Is skinceuticals discoloration defense suitable for all skin? Can I use it daily? Also I recommend skinceuticals sunscreen with tranexamic acid, very good one
I really loved your explanation on how a healthy amount of vanity can be helpful. Spot on! You have the best content - you are funny, but no nonsense...I learn so much from you!
I love TXA, I lived in Japan and used a lot of the bihaku products designed for pigmentation there, and tranexamic acid was a big ingredient in a lot of their bihaku products, and also arbutin. I remember a lot of Hada labo, Kose and Kanebo products used these
I’d love to hear about TCA peels. What they do, can they be used on the neck, chest, and arms, how many peels are required to achieve results. Are more lighter peels as effective as a deeper peel? Thank you!
I am interested in the La-roche posay glycolic serum, my face tends to love that brand and I’ve been using Paula’s choice 10% glycolic acid gel that I like. I also have been using Peter Thomas Roth discoloration cream and it has such good ingredients but is so expensive. But if I could find an all in one product or better yet, if I could find a couple that are still cheaper but have all of the ingredients I’ve been using and they don’t pill, that’d be wonderful!! The PTR one has the TXA, Kojic acid, alpha-Arbutin which thanks to you I know what that is lol, and I think niacinamide. I have a very expensive vitamin c serum I use recommended by my own dermatologist I’d like to continue using, it’s the most stable kind and between all of the ingredients I see such a huge difference in my skin! I’ve also been loving Skinfix!!! They’re cleanser in the teal colored bottle has exceptional ingredients too! I leave it on like a mask. 😁👍🏻
came accross this while researching, Tranexamic acid goes well with my skin and other ingredients like Azelaic, I'm using unspotted night serum by Lion Pose and its so effective!
Hi. I have used (and loved) the Peter Thomas Roth Pro strength niacinamide discoloration treatment. It has Niacinamide, Tranexamic acid, kojic acid, alpha arbutin, and pentapeptide. What are your thoughts on this product?
Hi Dr Idriss, greetings from Ireland. I'm pretty lucky with my visage, use a retinol & have been using an spf since time & memoriam...its stood me in good stead above all & for a 40 something I'm pretty wrinkle free. However I am an amputee with chronic nerve pain. I find comfort in heat, and in times of extreme non stop episodes, I cling to my hot water bottle like a Koala up a eucalyptus tree. Anyway, it's left me with scarring on my abdominal area. I know it's counterintuitive but when you have chronic pain & are a hip disarticulation amputee, you just don't give a fiddlers. Can you recommend something for the burns I've effectively given myself? Dermatologist are in short supply here & I value your input more than any others. Or if anyone is reading this please give me some recommendations that may have worked for you. Hope everyone is well reading this. Hugs from across the Atlantic. X
What are your thoughts on skin cycling (exfoliate night 1, retinol night 2, heal night 3 and 4)? More specifically that you need days off from retinol in order it for it to be effective?
Love this video! Hyperpigmentation is so tough to manage so THANK YOU for your insight! I’d also love to hear your thoughts on Stretch Marks. I have been struggling with them and while I know they’re permanent, i’d love to know how to prevent them in the future!
Good morning Dr. Shereene. Would love to know your thoughts on the benefits of CBD oil for the skin? Thank you for all the experience and knowledge you give us. 🤓🙏🏽
Could u share the order of potency of actives for melasma/hyperpigmentation?There are so many actives out there. Right now I am using Faded and don’t notice any change. The product lists so many actives that are supposed to address hyperpigmentation. I’m committed to use entire tube to see if it fades.
Japanese beauty brand Hada Labo carries products with Tranexamic Acid, their Hydrating Lotion and Water cream from the Premium Whitening range. Some may find this brand familiar for their range of hydrating lotions.
Good morning Dr. Shereene, Can you do an episode on natural skincare brands such as Tata Harper, Mahalo, May Lindstrom, etc. Looking forward to next Saturday as you have become the “morning news” to watch while having my morning coffee.
Hi! I’d love to see a video on what you think about Spironolactone to treat hormonal acne. I currently have hormonal acne that will not leave me alone! So I’ve been thinking about trying Spironolactone as I’ve heard it can help it. But would love for you to take a deep dive and hear all your thoughts on it!
I'm a Topical Faded fan girl 🥰 It really does work. A little goes a long way and it reasonably priced... I've been using it since January morning and night and it has truly helped to transform my hyperpigmentation along with my vitamin c serum and consistent chemical exfoliation. Faded has been reformulated so the new version doesn't have the sulfur smell, but honestly it didn't bother me because I've used sulfur soap before for my acne. Honestly give Faded a go, it's not as expensive as other products, it has a powerhouse of ingredients and it actually works!!!
Have you tried the reformulated formula because good lord I couldn't stomach the smell of the original formula. Just curious if the new smell is any better.
Thank you for covering tranexamic acid, I use Facetheory 5% tranexamic with vitamin C, niacinamide, lactic acid and liquorice in one product and like it. Do you know it?
I use the IPSA time reset aqua, it’s a glycerin based brightening toner with tranexamic acid, i swear by it, it’s marketed to decongest and brighten for sensitive skin, it has truly reduced my clogged pores and it works really well for PIP, if you guys can get your hands on J-beauty, give it a shot, it’s super gentle.
I used Peace Out Dark Spots Serum and while it has helped my back acne scars, the smell is horrendous. I actually cant use it on my face at all because it makes me nauseous and gives me a headache. Definitely hope they reformulate it so I can use it and not stink. I always add a scented lotion to my back afterwards to mask the smell.
Hi! Was wondering if you can do sample skin care routines for different skin types and issues? Dry skin with hyperpigmentation , maybe ? I think that would be so helpful ! You are amazing !
Great video! You mentioned that the chemical exfoliants can be done at night right after you wash your face, but when should we apply the serums? I'm not sure if I should be using it before or after I apply my retinol.
Thank you Dr. Shereene for sharing all your knowledge! I am a new “nerd” and have been a skincare junkie for decades ! I am 66 and have been fighting melasma and dark spots for years. My question is, in which order would you layer these serums if you are using a prescription retin a ?

@@teegee633 you're very sweet to comment, but its definitely just plain old fat problems because my thighs rub together and my underarms is because I get ingrown hairs - probably because there's not a lot of air there. I do a medical every year. I am going to try limit carbs and sugar anyway because I'm tired of being overweight. It's not as fun as people make it out to be lol
I have found Tranex Dear Serum: It has really helped to start shift my melasma. I have finished one bottle and have definitely seen an improvement. The ingredient list is :
Tranexamic Acid (5%), Kojic Acid (5%), Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid and Licorice.
Thanks, I just ordered on Amazon! Definitely worth a try for me after many other Vit C serums, and no help with retinol etc.
I use that serum too and noticed a big difference
Can you tell me which part of your routine do you use this serum?
@@lucyegan5025 You can use this serum right after you wash your face at night. I wash my face, use a watery hyaluronic acid serum (I use The Ordinary) for hydration and after that I put the DearSkin. You can finish with moisturizer and be done or continue to add other actives like azeliac acid and alpha arbutin from The Ordinary.
@@gabrielacortez4893 can you also use retinol with this serum?

Can you talk about copper peptides in topical skin care, and what we should not be mixing with it. Thank you for all you do!!
Excellent question 👏🏻
Yes!
easy answer NEVER MIX COPPER PEPTIDES WITH VIT C
I use it after microneedling. GKU is the brand I use but ordinary has a less expensive one. since I use vit C inbthe morning I use copper at night. about 2 nights a week ibdont use tret or my maelove retinaldyhyde and do pretty much 6bdiffwrent K essences and my serums
Vitamin C is about the only one that’s a no no because the copper accelerated the degradation of vitamin C!
Yes yes
Have you guys tried cos de baha tranexamic acid? I'm interested in getting it
@rachelfishbein1478
Do you have melasma?
Thank you so much for continuously talking about melasma! I have melasma that comes and goes, and I just woke up with yet another flare up 2 days ago (after a few weeks of clear skin). It really can get discouraging at times, but your channel is my go-to for some words of encouragement!
@Herpes goddess stop with the promotions please.. This is so annoying!
Can you please tell us your opinion about castor oil? Thank you.
Yayy! My favourite dermatologist dropped a video and I hopped right in!! 💕😀
@@dananatale501 I hope it works for you 🙏 😃 I completely understand the frustration 😔

The brand Naturium has 2 Tranexamic acid 5% products that are both great and are $20 and $22. They’ve helped with my melasma so much! Thanks for all this great information :)
I got this one in the mail and used it for the first time today. Love Naturium 😍
how long did you use it to see a difference ?
@@covecarrington3332 I‘ve been using the the alpha arbutin and tranexamic acid serums for 6 months now. I began to see a difference within 2 months using them combined. I think using the multi bright product that already combined to two might be easier and will be my next purchase!
How did it go with the gray one? (Not the yellow multibright)
How many times per week are you applying the Tranexamic acid? I used this along with Azelaic acid.
Your my new favourite skin expert ! Yes how it was discovered is amazing. Thank you for your amazing expert advice 😊xxxxx
She never has heavy makeup on and people should never comment on other people's appearances. Its rude
@@claudtastic Hi, I'm in Australia and was wondering which cream with hydroquinone you can buy over the counter here. Cheers

Thank you for always posting amazing content! I was wondering if you could do a video on body hyperpigmentation and the ways to treat it? I have hyperpigmentation on my shoulders caused by friction and I can’t seem to get rid of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I would love a video on anti-aging body care, including hyperpigmentation and sunspots!
Recently came across your channel, and so thankful I did! You are so pleasant to watch!!! Thank you, for all of the awesome info!❤
Hi when do u use topical in ur skincare routine? At what step? Thanks
@mariamhusain5857 I use it in my nightly routine. They suggest not using it with retinol or acids in the beginning. I am able to use it with both now. I also don't have sensitive skin. I suggest using it on the nights you are taking a break from retinol, though.
love it when you call me nerdling 💕
Dr Shereene is so right about melasma, its seriously debilitating ❤
Hi Dr. Idriss! Love the video :). Could you do a video on ceramides and the types, benefits, drawbacks, misconceptions. Thank you!
Will your skincare line be available to ship to Canada in the future? We can't wait over here!! Lots of love ❤️

And also, do you know if GA breaks down tretinoin (is tretinoin encapsulated retinoid???)
thank you in advance if you can offer advice!

Hi Dr Shereene Idriss, love your videos. Can you please do one on lip discoloration and uneven tone. How do we go about treating it?
Faded serum or kojic which is better
Victim c, niacinamide or alpha abutin
I would love for you to talk about hydroquinone in depth given the fear mongering around it! I personally think it is an important ingredient. What your thoughts as a dermatologist are, I know you like it. But talking about its history, its utility, how it plays differently if so in skin of colour (big movement on it 'bleaching' the skin and playing into the colorism story). Thanks! Love you and your videos xx
I'm a respiratory therapist and I regularly give nebulized TXA for people having pulmonary hemorrhage. Quite a versatile medication
Can you talk more often about the frequency of using certain ingredients? For example Azelaic acid and TXE: like every other day or every night
Yes,that would be great 👍
I use them both every day with no irritation and I have rosacea.
Hope this helps
I’m not a fan of Azelaic acid, used a few different products and it made my skin irritated and melasma dark
Hello,
Can tranexamic acid and retinol be used together? Or for example, tranexamic acid in the morning and retinol at night? Thank You😊
They can even be formulated together in the same product. Agency's Future Formula, a prescription product, will formulate four ingredients together, and mine had tretinoin 0.05%, tranexamic acid 5%, niacinamide 4%, and dexpanthenol but I can't remember the percentage of that.

Love your piece on this Dr. Shereene!

@@jenniferlee9029 I never used the original but the new one definitely still has a smell, though tbh I got used to it and dont notice it anymore.

A series of VI peels and the VI Pigment Correcting Kit would be the best treatment for melasma.
