    I love kojic acid. I discovered it 6 years ago and bought the soap at a Filipino Store. Used it every 3rd day and let it sit on my skin for a couple of minutes before I washed it off. It took about 4-6 months to see results but the results were great. Still use it to this day.

    Hi Dr. Shereene I live in Australia and it was a bitter cold winter. I have been so sick this year I got a disease called Colitis and it has been a a nightmare. I have seen so many specialists and they are still doing ongoing tests so I have very dehydrated skin as I have up to forty bowel movements a day I had to give up my job and life has been difficult. But I want to tell you I look forward to your lovely face and you cheer me up you have given me some wonderful advice for a lady in her early sixties and I just want to say thank you for teaching this old lady to make the best skin I have. Almost 20-ish years ago, right after high school, I wanted to fade my post-acne dark marks (PIH). And after research online on some problematic websites, I found some Kojic Acid soaps. Used them consistently over idk how long, and my PIH cleared up! I loved them so much. I only semi-recently started incorporating it into my routine again. So good for dark spots.

    When I was in high school, I wanted to go to medical school, but did a complete 180 and ended up going into labor relations instead (mostly because I psyched myself out). I really fell out of love with the field and withdrew from the Master's program I was in. I'm 28 now and have been really thinking about going for it. I started taking some med school pre-reqs I didn't take in undergrad and shadowing PA's and Doctors in the ER. Hearing your stories and seeing you and other physicians so passionate about educating and helping others is a big reason that has inspired me to really consider chasing that old dream. It would be nice to hear any thoughts or advice you may have on people wanting to pursue medical school later in life or as a career change. I'm a bit concerned because my GPA in undergrad wasn't bad, but also wasn't quite to the level most medical programs would want because I didn't take school as seriously when I started. Also super excited for you in launching your line and hoping for a smooth launch!

    • @TosaNewsense
      @TosaNewsense 2 года назад +14

      Just do it. Pursue that dream, diggedly, unflinchingly, even on a part-time basis if need be. Being older gives you a perspective on hard work, on priorities, that the younger you did not possess. Not to mention the wisdom you now possess to work hard for your goals. Eventually, it'll take you across the finish line, all that hard work. And once you're finished, believe me, no one will care that you started later than others in your graduating class, especially if you are one of the top students. 😉

      @47Strong 2 года назад

      I personally wouldn’t but I don’t use trentinoin. I would let the trentinoin do what it does and let it be undisturbed by any other exfoliants. It is a strong active. I use the milder retynaldehyde. But if you wanna use any glycolic acid while also using trentinoin thats definitely a good question for a dermatologist.

    When I was in college, Kojic acid was the hype and still is in the Philippines. So I tried using a Kojic acid soap but ended up having fresh wounds after I used it. After that, I didn't even bother using Kojic acid soap with it since it resulted in that horrible experience. But after watching this, I feel like I need to incorporate Kojic acid soap but I do need to find the one that has a better formulation.

    • @hurrstardlikemustard
      @hurrstardlikemustard 2 года назад +15

      The Kojic Acid Soaps work but its too harsh and drying for most people, but your best bet would be the brand names Kojie-San or the Belo brand as they formulate their bar soaps with other ingredients that would help lessen the irritation from the kojic acid - as oppose to the off brand soaps sold for cheap - the off brand ones also work but theres a higher risk of irritation, especially when the bar soaps here in the PH doesnt disclose the concentration/percentage of the kojic acid in the product. And you will have to incorporate using the kojic soap slowly until your skin can better tolerate it. Best to start using the soap once a day every other day, until you can use it once daily, and progress from there.
      On the other hand youre far better off using the recommendations on this video as opposed to the bar soaps as Kojic Acid works better as a leave-on product rather than as a wash-off product. You could be alot more consistent with a wash off product tho. As for wash off products, you'll also have to the soap/suds stay on your skin about 5-10 minutes before rinsing for best results, but ofcourse leaving it on the skin in serum, toner, or cream form is still a better option provided that you'll be consistent with it. And ofc pair it with a good moisturizer and sunscreen. Kojic acid's great !

    Dr. Idriss, have you tried Peter Thomas Roth Niacinamide Discoloration treatment? It has all of the ingredients you like a lot, which is why I got it, it’s expensive but it works really well for me! I use it at night a few times a week and it works as good as my Revision C-correcting complex that I use during the day. So man when I use them both in the same day my skin is on cloud 9 and I can’t stop staring at it!

      I’m going to try that PTR. I’ve thought about it but when you said the part about not being able to stop looking at your skin, I totally cracked up! 😂💕 I’ve been using Topicals Faded for 8 months and I have your same reaction. 😳 It’s excellent making my skin really clear. I also get great results from Touch Bright and Clear. Both work terrifically! Be prepared for a mild sulfur smell from Faded (it dissipates after a few minutes but now I actually like it)…and be aware the Touch is a kinda gross green color but it disappears on the skin. 😄☮️🌸💜

    Loved the video Dr Idriss, I can’t agree more with you regarding the dropper packaging, maybe in your skin-line you can create two versions of packaging for skin brightening: one as a pump and the other as a roll-on (similar to deodorants). The second for the purpose of easy application in other areas of the body, for example underarms or groin. Just a thought 💭
    I’ve been looking for something like that, and everything out there is just a bar soap, cream, or serum in pump/dropper ☹️

    Hello, quick question. My 15 yr old daughter has started using a Vit C which contains kojic acid. She uses this every morning and then puts on sunscreen. Is that ok? From your video you mentioned that it should be used sparingly? Could you please advice. Thank you!

    If pigmentation is the main concern, is kojic acid better than azelaic acid if you were going to buy only one?
