  • Welcome to the Colonization of the Solar System, a fictional timeline about how humanity will ascend to the worlds circling the Sun. This is episode 2 of the Colonization of the Asteroid belt, where we see humans colonize Ceres, Vesta, and the largest asteroids in the solar system. How will humans mine asteroids? Can we colonize asteroids? Can we mine asteroids?

I'd kinda like it if the colonies were slightly less opaque, so we can decipher the surface of the object.

i tried doing that before but didn’t like the look of it
      made it look cluttered

I wish I shared your optimism
Also I love the “new delta is screwed”

I think I know what didn't sound quite realistic in your series: in episode 1 of Jupiter colonisation: I meant NNIS, it stands for No Nukes In Space

the outer space treaty is incredibly outdated and never meant to be permanent space law, and that’s the law that says no nukes in space
i genuinely think that the outer space treaty will be removed, ignored, or significantly changed by the 2040s
in the 2100s i would bet a ton of money people only know it as an interesting historical footnote in space history, and not an actual law that’s still in use
what’s not realistic about this is how fast people got to the asteroid belt and made colonies
