The most important point as to why calories dont matter is because its hormone dependant. INSULIN is the bodies FAT STORAGE hormone. Without insulin the human body cannot store fat..this is why type 1 diabetics have such a hard time maintaining their weight. When you consume CARBS..SUGARS it spikes insulin...and whenever that happens it increases FAT STORAGE. Consuming FATS have no effect on insulin which is why a keto and carnivore diet results in FAT LOSS without feeling hungry.

I already found myself with higher heartbeats during fasting, maybe because of the caffeine from coffee.

cole Robinson on RUclips calls this death fasting. if I remember right he dry fasts and then sits in a sauna for an hour as his means of creating sweat or more of a water deficit . during the night your body breaks down it's fat stores for that metabolic water. He claims someone could lose up to 100lbs in a month! Not sure if anyone has tried it. I'm about to start a 30 day dry fast and use a portable sauna. going to maybe look for a coach but I believe God will give me a warning if I'm close to hurting my body. I've asked Him about it and this man mentioning the part about metabolic water seems like another confirmation from God! fasting seems like the best option for me as I get discouraged easily and am worried about my metabolism slowing down too much. also I think the autophagy might help with loose skin. trying to lose 100lbs as fast and "safe" as possible. (Not sure if this is 100% safe but neither is being 100lbs overweight) I'm afraid of exercising while prolonged fasting because muscle will break down but since there is no intake of protein I'm confused as to how they will be repaired. I know human growth hormone increases with fasting but I'm not sure it's enough to maintain muscle while lifting weights. some lift with the theory of use it or lose it bit I'm not sure if they're doing 3 day or longer fasts.

While I can see what he's saying that if you just eat as much as you want, your metabolic rate will increase and you "can go do more physical activity" to compensate. However, for us average people that have jobs and families and our available time is already maxed out with as much physical activity as we can fit in, what do we do then? If we just eat as much as we want, but are unable to really add more physical activity then we just gain weight (fat and probably some muscle I'd wager).
Is there a place where we can actually calculate more of a "carnivore" lifestyle metabolic rate with the more accurate measurements of energy content of food (like mentioned in the talk)? Would be interested to see if some of these nutritionist-types have come up with anything to share.

I think the industrial revolution up to our modern growing and processing methods is where most of the problem is. The people groups eating their traditional diets, sometimes including plants and, for some, properly prepared grains, etc. thrived for thousands of years. Dr. Price observed and studied their various diets, in person. So, no need to try to go back "hundreds of thousands" of years or think we MUST eat 100% meat to have robust health.
I rarely see or hear people mention or know about Dr. Price. It seems many go from SAD to keto/carnivore. Read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Dr. Price. By the way, I'm not bashing carnivore, just looking at all angles and evidence. 🙂

I have a past difficult relationship with calories and started carnivore without counting calories but since I am now working i with a coach I began tracking food in general so i could tweak it. I was thinking from a macros point of view so if I had any gut issues I could adjust and because if I want to do bikini transformation competition like I do that it would give me the information needed to effectively tweak things coming up to show prep but when I entered it in to my fitness pal it only gave me the option to track by calories so I started noticing them and slipping back into the old holding back not daring to go over calories. It lead me to not lose much weight this week and feel rubbish and even sample non carnivore food which made me feel utterly rubbish so I ignore calories now and literally document what I eat so I have reference if I need it but I don't pay any attention to the calories. have you seen the amount of calories this woman eats in a day though? She was eating like 40 eggs, 3 large steaks, and a block of butter every day for quite a while at one point. Same with so many of the carnivore people. they're literally chowing down on whole blocks of butter with huge steaks and other forms of meat (with all the fat attached to it), and losing massive amounts of weight and healing all sorts of health issues they previously had. Then maintaining their weight loss and renewed health for years while still chowing down on a seemingly endless supply of surplus calories. And it's not just one or two people, it's freaking hundreds of them. I was really against even the idea of this sort of way of eating for years, but I've been watching interviews and podcasts and personal accounts for around 2 weeks now and am generally baffled by how it flies in the face of almost everything we think we know, _while_ being massively successful and healing people of years of pain and suffering.
Maybe calorie restriction is only necessary on a ''normal'' diet? because for some reason it seems totally unnecessary on carnivore.

If it's a choice between 100% carnivore of fat and meat vs 80% animal foods and 20% super tough fibrous plants that are hard to find....I pick the first. Sounds like trying to make an excuse to eat plants. Butter directly contains butyrate, an scfa. There are probably other animal foods which do as well. If that's why anyone wants scfa. Ghee does as well, at least per the quick search I did. If lactose is a problem.

How is your sleep & general stress level, Debra? I ask this bcz stress, incl lack of adequate sleep, has an astonishing impact on our ability to lose weight.
I am a good example of this. i am generally a poor sleeper, often getting only 4 to 5 hrs sleep, sometimes less. And for the last six months, on a keto & now carnivore lifestyle while also striving to get more sleep, I have watched my weight drop easily whenever I have been sleeping well, but go right back up the day after a poor night's sleep. I have observed this happen over & over.
In fact, I watched my weight go up 10 lbs recently when I didn't sleep well for 4 days in a row! And that could only have been the reason bc nothing else in my diet had changed & I had been losing weight before that.
So bcz of my own experience, my first thought is that you may be experiencing something similar. However, if that doesn't fit your situation, there are a number of videos available online that address the main "keto mistakes" that prevent fat loss. Hope you find your answer there & achieve great future success on achieving your health goals.

Isn’t the weight is lost initially just water weight?

    • @bidnow2946
      @bidnow2946 2 года назад +7

Yes, but it is a bit more complicated than that. Since your body is mostly water, then losing water is expected. Here is what happens:
      1. When you start keto/carnivore, you don't eat much new glucose/carbohydrates, so your body uses the glucose stored in your liver and muscles instead. This stored glucose is called glycogen, and it contains either 3 or 4 grams of water for every gram of glucose. So if your liver contains 454g (a pound) of usable glucose, then you will also lose around 3.5 pounds of water weight as well. Conversely, when you stop keto, it will come right back.
      2. The same ratio applies to your muscle glycogen, however this is a larger reserve and takes longer to deplete. In addition, muscle glycogen can only be utilized within the muscle itself, so it does not really impact your blood sugar readings or ketosis.
      3. Then, the reduction of carbohydrates lower your insulin level (etc. etc.) and that in turn helps reduce any associated systemic inflammation. This is perhaps the most dangerous weight you carry, and it basically presents as Edema. I have seen lots of reports from very obese dieters (like 700 pounds) who have lost 50 pounds in one month and 100 pounds in four months on keto. This is the kind of "water weight" that really needs to go to help your heart.

Calories are not grossly inaccurate. People's estimates might be but if measured correctly CICO works very accurately for predicting weight gain or loss! And I mean weight.
Bart is missing the point here! Yes metabolism varies depending on what we eat and how much, and yes he ate more calories for two weeks and guess what? His metabolic rate went up so he burned more calories than he was eating so he was in a deficit and he lost weight! It's still CICO!
"If you eat more food you tend to be more active" ie. we eat more Cals we burn more Cals.. = CICO!
The point about protein not having 4Cals is not correct either! Yes some of the energy from protein is used for other purposes.. but we know this and it still has 4Cals /g!
Yes we can eat 30% more protein than fats or carbs due to this and not put on weight and we know this.. 30% of the energy from protein is used for other purposes than just providing energy and so our metabolic rate goes up 30% when we eat protein and that means CICO is still valid!
Also Bart says at the beginning about CICO being valid with a yes and a no and went on to say that if we eat at 1000Cal deficit we will lose weight.
Similarly it can be said that if we eat 1000Cals surplus we will gain weight.
1000Cals is not the magic number. The recommended 500Cals will do the same job.
Basically he said in a caloric deficit we will lose weight and in a caloric surplus we will gain weight.. Therefore CICO is still 100% valid!
And unless Bart can come up with a better measurement than Calories then CICO is also the only way to track the energy.
Oh yeah.. and guess what.. fasting is a calorie deficit! Do you put weight on whilst fasting? No..
