      Wemby has a shit ton of blocks but that'd because people still drive and play around him like he's a non threat. I'm not sure why the blocks he gets are the easiest shit.

      @serge6885 yes even with the record, but I know he won't. Spurs are a top 5 defense team when he's on the court, but bottom of the league defense when he leaves. That should tell enough about their record.

    He has that Kobe mentality like no other player in the league. He cares about winning the rookie of the year over Chet because Chet beat him in the USA vs France before they were drafted. So when Wemby wins ROTY he’s gonna have to sit at HOME and watch CHET compete in more important games , and I promise you he ain’t gone like that .

    • @richatlarge462
      @richatlarge462 11 месяцев назад

      No. They're still 12-48. He has changed three games this season, and even then it took excellent offensive games by his teammates to get the W. His on-court plus/minus is not that different from his off-court plus/minus. So he's not a game-changer. Last night was his first decent fourth quarter in ages.

    • @richatlarge462
      @richatlarge462 11 месяцев назад

      @@Truth-time I know that. But he's only about 4-5 minutes less per game than many a star player. His per-36 stats are good but not crazy good. I checked his rankings for all that stuff last week.
      Interesting factoid: Walker Kessler was actually just ahead of Vic in blocks. Also Vic was in first place for turnovers. And Vic's shooting percentage is still too low for such a tall guy.
      All in all, a promising start this year, much potential, but he's really not terrorizing the league, as the glazers would have me believe. He's tall so he gets his blocks and defensive rebounds, but needs to develop into an actual offensive threat vs a "try my luck" three-point shooter who rarely shows up offensively in close fourth quarters.
      You can have the last word.

      @@richatlarge462 Jordan’s Bulls were Losers his rookie year. It took Jordan 6 years to finally start winning Titles. The Spurs will have their first of several championships in just 4 years. @Truth-time 1 thing that is also not normal is his height and his long ass arms ik he is good but the height and the arms make him this good if he would be smaller it would be harder but he is bigger and has longer arms than anybody so it's easier for him to block and rebound also shoot and dunk from free throw line

      @@Nsporadic1Anything is possible in 4 years. One assumes the Spurs will be back in the playoffs by then, though a championship is iffy. Then again, the future is unpredictable, and Victor could be out of the league in 4 years due to injury. Only time will tell. For now and next year, the Spurs are a bad team, and Vic is not moving the needle on the W/L record.

    Imagine the Spurs keep loosing all the time. And OKC go far in the playoffs, like a final against the celtics. Why not, SGA has what it takes. Devil's advocate: I still say "let him shoot" is the answer. He happened to hit 5/7 threes last night, and 4/10 otherwise. If he had hit his usual 2 or 3 out of 7 from behind the arc, suddenly his offensive line doesn't look that special, and is easily offset by the other team's scorers. He is still relying on outside shooting first, inside shooting second. Until that changes, the league doesn't need an answer for him. When the Spurs win, Victor usually has a good game, but they only win because a second player has a huge game as well.

      On the other hand the Spurs are yet to win a game without him. He missed 7 games and they lost all of them. What you try to display as a logical thought is actually a syllogism. The reason why the spurs did not win more games is actually because no player besides him is able to have consecutive consistent scoring nights. You need points to win ball games yes… that’s not a genius idea… Spurs are the worst 3-point shooting team as well as the worst defensive team… Without him on the floor their defense is actually probably the worst in NBA history… With him on the court, their defense is top 5 in the league… He’s basically playing 1 vs 5 most of nights… it’s insane. Most of his teammates are not NBA-level. Except Vassel and Sochan. In 2 years at least half of the guys on this roster will be out of the league. Mark my words.

      @@Peroriperora Those are pretty softball words to mark. Of course the Spurs suck, it's why they went 22-60 last year. They''ll probably end up even worse this year, but we grant them some leeway for "adjusting to playing with Victor" (and vice versa).
      What I've noticed is that the Spurs are *not* especially good with him on defense. He gets his average of one block per 8 minutes on the court (i.e. about once per quarter), and might get a steal or two, but that's not the same as actually stopping the other team from scoring. In almost all games, the opponents have not missed a beat, with or without Victor on the court. He can't guard the tough centers, so they put him on a non-scoring forward and let him roam to stop players from driving to the rack. This is useful, but again is not the same as being a physically tough defender (think Draymond).
      On offense he remains disappointing. There are rare nights when he puts up good numbers behind the arc, but the other team will match that, so where's the advantage? He gets only a couple of dunks per game, and misses virtually all his shots between the rim and the arc. It's pretty amazing how this has been holding true. He needs a better offensive arsenal. It's more that "give him Trae Young"; it's the will to score in the paint.
      Finally, he must stop trying to be a trickly ballhandler at his height. It's too easy to pick his pocket, and he leads the league in turnovers per minute played.
      I believe he'll overcome these defects some time in his sophomore season, though the Spurs will remain a poor team.

      @@richatlarge462Jesus so many incorrect stuff here…
      Ok let’s start: spurs not better as a team with Wemby? Have you watched the first 2,5 months of the season and the Sochan at PG experiment? What is the Spurs record since he moved to center and they started to play with a point guard? Oh surprise they’re better than last year…
      They’re not better with him defensively? Well that’s just a pure lie. Stats will tell you that. #5 defensive team with him on the court. Dead last without him. And if you actually watched the games you would have noticed the opposing teams always start a run when he subs out in the first quarter. Regular trend.
      The only thing I would agree is yes he dribbles too much for my taste as well, generating way too many turnovers… but again… this is just an unfortunate consequence of him having to do too much because his teammates suck.
      You may not like the guy but you can’t deny his impact on the game. You just can’t.

      @@Peroriperora it's all coherent. I said their record is at least as bad this year as last year. I also gave you an excuse for it - you're welcome.
      The defensive rating you cite means squat when I can see other teams pulling away in second halves with him playing, ending with 120+ points.
      Also, you don't understand me at all, because I like Victor - I just won't glaze, because I see him relying on threes at a mediocre clip, getting pushed around by centers, and believing himself to be KD despite being a bad midrange shooter.
      Over and out.

      @@PeroriperoraFunny, I was going to reply to that first comment with a big long comment of my own detailing why that was an ignorant response, but I decided it would be a waste of my time. The world is so full of people who think just because player A shoots more shots he's performed better than Player B. Wemby plays on a bad team. A very bad team. He takes shots he shouldn't take because he's the best player on that team. That is not good. Hopefully he will learn better when his team improves. He has shown great signs of that being the case and his ceiling is unfathomably high. However, to this point in the season, what I said is not even a debate. Who will be the better player when their careers are done. Wemby of course. But 60 games into their rookie season, Chet is the better offensive player. Will that be the case after 82 games. I don't know.
