Hey Paul, love your videos. I know you don't take many things apart, but breaker boxes are definitely worth the time. The breakers themselves have significant amounts of silver, and some #1 copper. They can be sold as is to many yards at a price similar to motors or transformers, or the silver can be removed and sold to a precious metals buyer. Also, there's some heavy copper busbar behind/in between the breakers, usually plated with silver or tin (can go as #2 copper or silver plated copper depending on yard,) but sometimes it's clean #1 copper busbar. Also, try to resell any decent looking light fixtures locally on Facebook, they almost always work. They're usually an easy $20+.
Two things Paul. The blue truck weighs less, so less friction needed to stop. Also I believe your blue truck is a stick. Generally speaking you use the engine to slow down rather than the brakes with a stick shift. Hope that helps.
I'm so happy for you that you had a lot of scrap plus washer and dryer in your new red truck that would never have fitted in the little blue one. Glad your shoulder is a little better 😀

Paul, I'm no appliance repair person or anything... but, in my experience as a homemaker and having had more than a few freezers in my time, the freezer may just need a freon charge? If, as you say, the compressor sounds like it's on, that is. Just a thought. 😊

One thing to consider with the blue truck. It is a standard. So instead of using the brakes to slow down you just down shift and use the motor to slow u down and brakes only to come to a complete stop.
Your blue truck weighs less. Possibly has high dollar brake pads on it which last longer. It still seems like a lot of miles for a set of pads though, especially with the amount of stops you make.
@@ScrapPalletMan Was the truck a manual trans? Downshfting can save on the brakes. I agree, that's a lot of mileage for a set of brakes though regardless.

Both Dan and Robert hit the nail on the head.... good thing to because the front hub bearings have to come off on a Colorado to remove the rotors. Pain in the butt job because they NEVER come off easily and you usually have to replace the bearings anyway because you have to beat the snot out of them to break them free from the knuckle
Hi Paul, I am so glad to hear your arm is doing well. Tendons and ligaments have you feel pain and frustration. It took me a year for mine to heal. May God keep Blessings come your way 🙏
ON your brakes on the blue truck, having a clutch puts less pressure on stopping. usually you are pressing in on the clutch when you stop, which means it is in neutral. A vehicle that is in neutral is a lot easier to stop, thus less wear and tear on the brakes. That could explain it.
Have you ever thought about some of those platters out of the microwave. They could be used for like cake plates or something a crafter could use to make cake stands with candle holders , just saying you never know.
Thank God that your shoulder is better at this filming. Now that i have reached an age of old...my body aches when a front is moving in. Thought about becoming a weather woman,,but honestly i would be right more than they would like. Lol. Great video....love collecting trash with you. God bless. Love and peace
@@ScrapPalletMan I dont mean to be a downer but the older you get the more the weather seems to matter. lol I use aspercreme with 4 percent lanocane in it. works some and helps. we can look forward to a body with no pain. what a blessing that will be. hang in there.
I found that same dishes (but just the dinner plates) on the side of the road in my neighborhood a few months ago. I didn’t understand getting rid of them, except that people get rid of a lot of good stuff in Brooklyn due to lack of space. At least they usually try to put them out on weekends (and often not on trash days) to encourage passersby to take them. Which I happily did! They are now my favorite set of dinner plates!
Concerning the brakes, there are some probable causes: 1) Automatics demand much more from the brakes than manuais, because you usually don’t reduce gears to use the engine brake. 2) More powerful cars also use more brakes. Even without noticing you are accelerating faster and consequently have to brake more. 3) the heavier the vehicle, the faster brakes will wear out. 4) overall condition of the vehicle 5) Not in your case, but different drivers brake differently. But even taking in consideration all those factors, more than 100k miles without a brake job, seems to much to me. Maybe you’ve done along the way and don’t remember. Anyway keep safe and happy to hear that your shoulder in better.
The mechanic said the Colorado requires the entire wheel assembly to be dismantled to do the brakes. And the charge is double. I've never even had pads changed. The only thing I do notice, is at high speed braking there's a wobble. I think one of my rotors is slightly warped
Paul, your small truck is a stick and in slowing down you disengage the engine pull when shifting gears. The red truck the pull from the engine remains engaged therefore requiring greater brake pressure. Also the blue truck is stopping less weight.
Hey Paul, glad your shoulder is doing better. And God DOES work in wonderous ways. I was wondering why you didn't cut the wire out of the washer when the back came off.looked like there was a fair bit.Anyway have a blessed day and stay safe.
As a Christian, the scrap business taught me to be humble, and not too flashy. You're right; own boss, make hours, meet some great people. For me it is not a hobby. Money is not always there even with many hours of work. Not sure if I wrote a book, or late night how/to info-commecial become rich in the scrap business would help me? Building up a scrap business from nothing is a proud achievement. Not sure if I would be underwritten for a stock option? But you're subject to scrap prices, high gasoline prices, finding nothing, no health insurance, vehicle breakdowns ECT. Sometimes people find you suspicious or something else while curb shopping/recycling. Humble and not flashing money seems to be my walk. Thanks for you're work and videos
I think you said it all with one paragraph. The highs and lows, pros and cons, frustrations and freedoms that makes scrapping hard work and soothing relaxation wrapped up together.
The blue truck weighs less and standard. Also Clifford's brakes has more surface area so it takes more breakage to stop it. God bless Paul. Oh, Mr. Scrappity is a genius and hilarious lol
Hi Paul, Your blue truck is a manual transmission and if you drive them correctly ( and you must be) the manual trans and engine work together to slow the vehicle thru the process of engine braking and that reduces the load on the brake system. Modern automatic transmissions have little to no engine braking affect on the vehicle and thats why the red truck will use the brakes up faster.

When it comes to the brakes. I suspect it is to do with chassis size(distance between the front and rear wheels and vehicle weight. Your new truck is heavier mate. Good video Paul keep it up
Bet you're really digging the amount of stuff you can load on that new truck now. I would put a magnet on the back of the truck for your wire cutters. Enjoy and keep those videos coming.
I'm no mechanic, but when I had my Geo Tracker I ran it for close to 18 years before selling it. Changed brake pads twice. Its most likely the lighter vehicle and slow driving. Both mean less work the brakes have to do to stop. Thus less wear and tear on the pads. Could be wrong.
Really enjoy your videos, favorite part from the old school cartoon days ,morning Ralph morning Sam. Alway interesting to see what treasure awaits you .

Hi Paul congrats on your arm and may it get better. And can I send my love to you and your family.
Oh I get it now...the truck must be in D in order for the G man salutation to announce itself. 🇨🇦...great channel Paul
Like a glove 😁
You wordsmith you 😁😁
Describes it better than I did and I had a pen and paper 🤣
Stay scrappy Mr.Palletman 😁😁😁
You left the coins in that dryer. I pulled 66.35 out of one dryer a few years back. Love your videos, keep them coming
That's a lot of money. I wish I could remember to pull the money out. But I never do
ON your brakes on the blue truck, having a clutch puts less pressure on stopping. usually you are pressing in on the clutch when you stop, which means it is in neutral. A vehicle that is in neutral is a lot easier to stop, thus less wear and tear on the brakes. That could explain it.
Have you ever thought about some of those platters out of the microwave. They could be used for like cake plates or something a crafter could use to make cake stands with candle holders , just saying you never know.
You can also sell them on eBay.
So glad your shoulder is feeling better. Keep taking care of yourself 🤘
I've got doctors appointments tomorrow regarding my shoulder
@@ScrapPalletMan I'll be waiting to hear good news 😊🙏
Good Evening My Good Big Bro Paul The Scraper & Pallet Man & God Bless You & All Of You're Whole Family & I Am Still Praying For You
Hey Tim always awesome to hear from you
@@ScrapPalletMan Thank You My Good Big Bro Paul The Scraper & Pallet Man Sir
Thank God that your shoulder is better at this filming. Now that i have reached an age of old...my body aches when a front is moving in. Thought about becoming a weather woman,,but honestly i would be right more than they would like. Lol. Great video....love collecting trash with you. God bless. Love and peace
It's raining right now and my shoulder is definitely bothering me. I've never had this happen before. Weather related aches and pains
I like the encourage the passerby to collect the items. Good community support
Glad your shoulder is better! We are blessed!
Thank you donating those dishes..some family will benefit from you saving them from the landfill
I think the 5 Spd on Babb The Blue truck helps with your braking along with the lighter weight .
I am happy your doing better and I do enjoy watching your channel. I am Chris from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Just taking my foot off the gas can slow the vehicle down to almost a stop
Good morning Paul 🙋🏽 is it alright if I Ride alone with you today ❓ My day is not complete until I Ride with you, Shane and Bob ‼️ the three of you are some of MY favorite RUclipsrs. Be extremely careful and safe and have a awesome amazing beautiful weekend ‼️🙋🏽👍🏽✝️🛐☮️💟❤️.
Hi Carole have a great weekend my friend.
Your a nice guy,🙏😇ty for takeing us along, alot of little bikes, kids must grow up😇
Praise God for your shoulder feeling better 🙌🙌🙌
I'm no mechanic, but when I had my Geo Tracker I ran it for close to 18 years before selling it. Changed brake pads twice. Its most likely the lighter vehicle and slow driving. Both mean less work the brakes have to do to stop. Thus less wear and tear on the pads. Could be wrong.
Really enjoy your videos, favorite part from the old school cartoon days ,morning Ralph morning Sam.
Alway interesting to see what treasure awaits you .
Awesome scrap run! I'm waiting for you to come up with a theme song for the new truck when it gets filled up with junk.
Paul just noticed you have a ramp in your truck so you need to get a winch and it will pull all the heavy stuff into truck and less weight on your truck a tailgate is a lot of weight to carry around more fuel
