I was with them since I was 16, had never shopped around. My rate kept going up despite no accidents, an older vehicle, no tickets, no claims (except windshield replacement every few years). I switched and my bill went down substantially. When I cancelled they never even asked why or cared. Good riddance SF
I have had my policy with State Farm for at least 30 years auto and home policy’s. I am out raged to see that they think they are going to raise my rates on auto for 1 vehicle by approximately 100 dollars. I am not paying this and looking elsewhere. Also not cutting coverage. I am able to have low mileage no accident discounts and done with paying high rates .
I couldn't even get my agent to call me back. I called what I thought was a complaint line and it routed me back to my agent. They continually say that the underwriter's are 3 weeks to a month behind. I had someone steal my health insurance. Working or, should I say not working with State Farm is a damn nightmare. I'm going to look elsewhere.
My rates just went up 23% with a perfect driving record. When I called I was told it was because of an increase in theft and vehicle values (although I drive a 20 year old truck that's mostly only driven between 2 secure garages). They did offer an additional remedy in addition to what you guys mentioned - stick a little device in the truck and download an app so they can monitor things & stuff. I haven't deployed it yet - still looking into what all it monitors, but they tell me it can bring the numbers down.
I used Drive Safe & Save with the bluetooth puck and phone app for a couple of years....no accidents, and I consistently scored in the 90s on the app, with the occasional 100 percent. Didn't do me a DAMN bit of good, and the rates went up EVERY single renewal. After 4 increases, I've told SF to BIOTA.
@@scottsharp3356Why? I installed it. My rate went back down to what it has been for years. We’ll see how it pans out. If it goes up again I’ll start shopping around after 30 years with State Farm. But you didn’t give any reasons for your response.

Been with State Farm nearly 40 years and just received my new bill which spiked nearly 30% from the last one, with no claims and no change in coverage, when I called to complain one of my agent's employees said the worst part is there's more increases coming and now I know why. I'll bet the CEO and the rest of the board gave themselves a 25-30% raise though. Sad part is how the government agencies that are supposed to regulate insurance companies and protect consumers allowed this to happen.
You could have been specific as to why the rate increases. Is it labor, material costs, litigious environment or mismanagement of resources or investments? Why are they losing money is my question. Thanks.
Im new to all this I just got insurance and I got months left on my policy can i switch from State Farm to somewhere else, anytime ? Or do I have to wait before I can switch thanks 🙏
My rate has been all over the place.. around 250, last month it was nearly 350 well this month it's just over 300, way too much money full coverage on 18 & 25 yr old pick up trucks.. Guess I'll be dorpping coverage down and maybe to only 1x truck this is a high amount for no ticket single guy in his 30's
I know that the margin, on car insurance in particular, is very small and they have a formula that is for every 2 moving violations you receive that equals 1 crash. I have had State Farm for 24 years and filed 2 claims in that 24 years for a total of less than $2500, both of which occurred at a speed of less than 1 mph. I haven't had a moving violation in 17 years and they raised my insurance in January about $30 and I was okay with that since my last claim happened right before the premium came due. Then again in May, they raised my rates another $80, no tickets, no claims, no nothing. They raised my rates overall 66% in less than a year. Then they started trying to blame the pandemic. I asked them what the hell the pandemic had to do with anything and besides the pandemic ended in 2021. Every 3rd commercial on television is for State Farm. It seems to me that if they spent a little little less on advertising they could cut their costs by several million dollars. You never hear of State Farm lobbying the car companies to make better cars that don't disintegrate whenever someone bumps one of them, thereby increasing the cost of repairs by untold amounts of money. You don't ever hear of State Farm lobbying the states to make sure that drivers have a driver training course under their belt before getting their license. Raise the rates for people who are multiple offenders, not everyone across the board. And if the cops could spend a little more time ticketing speeders and reckless drivers and a little less time beating and tasing and killing people maybe they could concentrate more on the traffic. But then again, cops are some of the worst offenders out there.
It’s every insurance company let’s be real here every 3 years I change companies because they raise the rates no different than cable internet utilities phones there no savings in loyalty anymore
I was amazed how expensive car insurance in USA are, until I knew what it includes 😖 (stuff like liability insurance against lawsuit and human injuries). I pay $120~$150 in my country (Qatar). The crazy thing I USA, these rates include mutual insurance companies like State Farm which is owned by policy holders and all profits are kept and reinvested to lower prices for policy holders. 🤯
After 4 straight renewals with the rate jumping around $50 each time, add me to the list. Sh*tcanned them yesterday (agent is a friend/former co-worker, and I haven't even told him yet🤫), and I'm going back to Progressive. Gonna do the Snapshot this time around, and sure hope the OBDII dongle is safe for my vehicle. I don't care much about the tracking stuff, I just wonder if they can actually interfere with the car's operation, or do actual damage. You wouldn't think so, but almost nothing surprises me anymore. The HUGE travesty is trying to insure my damn house, as a Floridian. 🤬🤬🤬
State farm is garbage I have been with them for 5 years and raised my rates for no reason and my father had 2 accidents which was cleared out 347 per month for 2 cars 98 and 90 Camry
But the flip side of what you guys are saying is that State Farm must be pretty good at paying claims if they are paying out $1.30 for every $1.00 of revenue. Isn't that a good thing from the customer's viewpoint? Also, why will switching insurance companies solve the problem? If State Farm is getting a lot of claims these days, won't that apply to other insurance companies as well? The companies with lower rates may be bad when it comes to paying claims, which is how they keep their rates low. I want a company that will pay off my claim if I ever have one. I have been covered by State Form for over 12 years, and my auto payments did increase in 2023 by about 22%. I'm not thrilled about that, but it didn't break the bank and I understand why they did it based on your video.

Another reason why they increase rates. If they show a profit, they have to pass that on to their customers which they don't want to do.
