Hi Chris, I am really enjoying your channel. I think you have the right attitude about fishing. It’s not how many fish you catch but the entire experience. Kudos to you for having such a great perspective. I can tell you in my years of fishing I have fallen in the drink many times. 😂

I watch your videos never expecting to see any fish getting caught but this was really funny as we have all been there. Your knowledge of flys is excellent 😂😂

At least the dunking didn't soggy your disposition 🙂👍btw i use A zip lock freezer bag for car keys and sensitive items to avoid them getting water damages and it does the job!

Always, always, always, put your car keys in a small zip lock bag. Happens to us all mate. I went for a swim in the Tyne in February this year! Brrrr

Hi Chris try to keep your loops of line no longer than the rod tip otherwise you’re fighting friction when casting Had a few dips myself.

So my comments aren't too winded I just wanted to say Theo seems to be a wonderful companion. I could never take any of our dogs past or present fishing they would only get into mischief.

Scoring your fall here is difficult. I personally like to see more wild arm flailing and at least 2 attempts to grab the air, preferably with a panicked, but resigned, look on your face, as you try to brace yourself for impact. Swearing is optional, but it does catch the judges attention, especially if you combine curses in new and interesting ways.
I'm going to award you 5 points for the fall itself, 6 for the novel use of shallow and not typical falling in water, and a further 5 for having a sense of humour about the whole thing. However, I am going to deduct 4 points for not losing anything important and having a change of clothes to hand. So thats 12 points out of a possible 30. Not a great score, but not bad for a first attempt. Well done.

Chris did you not read the excellent notes about the beat on PDAA site. Recommends not to wade the top pool if the water is above 0.3M due to strength of current.

Hi Again Chris, I have been watching salmon fishing on a number channels and I was wondering if you know why there seems to only be long distance casts being made. I know you have stated you are still a novis, but I am sure you talk with other more experienced salmon anglers. Is it because the flies need more more line to sink? I have only fished for salmon and steelhead trout on the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY, which is a Great Lakes tributary. Most of my fishing is for trout on small to large streams and I usually fish the closer water first and then add distance to my casts depending on if fish are rising or I believe fish maybe holding in a current seam. I know very little about salmon habits, but I was wondering if some salmon would ever be positioned closer to the banks or in feeding lanes to rest although they are not actively feeding. I would think these fish could be reached with shorter casts. Just an observation that all the casting seems to be long distances.

Hi Hector, good question. As I understand it, Unlike trout fishing where you will mostly fish upstream, Most salmon fishers fish across the pool and swing the fly downstream. It's important to cover the whole pool. A salmon fly only fishes well when it is moving across an aggressive salmon. As salmon don't feed in rivers a fast moving fly triggers them to take the fly (that's the theory 🤪

Thanks Chris I get the concept. I just really enjoy watching. The scenery and rivers look very much like here in New York's Catskill and Adirondack regions. We just don't have the Atlantic Salmon fishing. In June 2018, I was on a trip with family to Ireland and I had a chance to fish the River Nore. That June the weather was unusually warm and the water was too low for any salmon. I did hook into some nice brown trout only landing one. It was a beautiful fish. I have Salmon fishing over on your side of the globe on my bucket list. Keep those videos coming. Stay dry and I hope you have some more salmon at the end of your line. Enjoy those beautiful rivers and the gorgeous scenery.
      Tight-lines Chris...🎣

I see you're head over heals for this salmon fishing malarkey. Try looping the line round your fingers when standing in faster water as the drag on the line you pull in reduces the distance you can cast. I've just started doing it more this year and it's helped get a much longer line out.
