      It's just supply and demand. Your opinion can be that they're overpriced. Many agree. But had they made less figures, this sale would not be happening. These sell for full retail. They simply made more than the amount of buyers willing to pay that price.

    My first two Super 7 figures were Raphael and Splinter. After 12 hours out of the box, Splinter's tail broke. I emailed them asking for a replacement tail (not a free figure, not an apology, just a part to replace what broke) and their email back was rude. That taste never left my mouth and skewed my perception of the company ever since. Four Horsemen and Boss Fight Studios have excellent, top notch customer service. They treat it like their next sales depend on it. Super 7 didn't in my interaction.

    I believe that companies go all in on the first waves to hook people then after wave 1 the quality drops and the QC issues start happening. The completionists cannot walk away and the franchise fanatics feel they have to have all the new stuff because of loyalty to the brand/franchise….quality be damned.
    I’ve always stated that you should control your collection and not the other way around.
    If the QC issues are there and the prices are still high then you’ve got to seperate yourself from brand/franchise and draw a line in the sand and go “Lift your game or i’m out”. Close your wallet.

  • @cannovacreative
    @cannovacreative 11 месяцев назад +15

    I definitely picked up a few today that I held out on due to price. The Disney line should never have been $55 each. These sale prices are worth it and $19.25 is a steal. I haven’t paid full price for a Super7 figure in over a year. Never again will I preorder and I will only wait for them to go on sale.
    $37.50 is the sweet spot for me. Anything less is a bonus. If Sloppy7 would lower their prices, they would sell so much more product and actually make more money in the end. I would jump in on at least 4 other lines that they make if the prices were $40 and under, excluding the larger items. $55/$65 is justifiable for those. Let’s hope something changes soon. I agree, things aren’t looking good for them.

    A big problem for Super7 is that I believe they are charging ridiculous prices to help cover their overhead for their retail locations. They make fun products but they are charging close to double what their prices should be.

  • @Fuzzy_Barbarian
    @Fuzzy_Barbarian 11 месяцев назад +13

    My problem with Super7 is that the price just doesn't reflect what you're getting. Their figures are so expensive but have *awful* articulation, inconsistent paint and mixed QC. With how inconsistent the figures are, you don't know if any will turn out good, and like you said, they haven't built up a lot of faith or loyalty like other lines with consistency problems (e.g., SHF, Mafex, Neca, any Hasbro line). With how the figures all cost the same despite the different licensing costsl, it really feels like some people are paying more so that the company can do whatever they want, like open a brick and mortar store or make really niche figures. Or are we really gonna pretend the license for Toxic Crusaders costs as much as TMNT or Power Rangers?

  • @200yoda002

    Super7 is a company whose products are very expensive for what they offer. Pre-orders are always based on 3D renders that do not represent the final figure. The articulations are limited, the paint applications are very basic, and they essentially thrive on nostalgia.

    • @dobarrelrolls9495
      @dobarrelrolls9495 11 месяцев назад

      @@pez_dispenser42069 I would say its both; the delays are pretty constant across their line but they then rush them out with errors as they've already been so delayed they don't want to risk even more by fixing the mistakes made with them. Stuff like Tygra's arm band, the unpainted faces on the 2nd wave of Joes, Moe missing his apron, etc, it feels like they just get to a point and panic realizing if they delay any more it will impact another line they're doing so they just ship out what they've got and hope customers won't notice.

      @@daniel79tj Apparently there may be some legal hangups for that with some characters. • @PEHfinale
      @PEHfinale 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Sammo212 I believe the Rat King issue was more about Playmates than Neca. Super7 has essentially been modernizing old 80s/90s Playmates TMNT toy designs. And it's been implied that Playmates got salty about it and complained to Nickelodeon.
      So now Super7 needs to justify their designs by pretending that they are based on something else. The trick now is finding old character references that look like (but aren't literally) the Playmates figures and claiming that THAT is what they are modernizing.

    I do think they inability to secure large runs of items means they jump around from factory to factory and that has resulted in their quality being off and on. He-Man was still using Mattel factories then when it didn’t you could tell the quality dropped off. I do think they won’t be around much longer, they already have had to cancel some preorder waves and figures for multiple lines. Their business model and lack of care will shut them down. Even at these prices they just aren’t worth it.

    I really loved Super7 on their initial TMNT waves. But then situations like the Undercover Raph's renders being updated to show no deco after pre-orders happened, how horrible almost all the human characters look so far, and the fact that I have a ton of figures on my shelves but somehow when accidents happen only Super7 figures break on me (Krang and Cobra Commander) really made me take a look at the line and realize they just really weren't worth the asking price. So I now have bought two TMNT waves for ~$25 a figure so far and just recently bought Duke and Snake Eyes from Amazon when they were close to these BBTS prices. There's no way I'm ever buying their figures for full price anymore when there's a ton of other companies coming for my dollars. But I would straight up buy Ultimate Real Ghostbusters at full price if those recent renders going around were picked up by Super7 and had good paint apps... 😅

    Thank you for the insight. I agree with the points you made. I sense two things may be happening for Super7:
    1) "Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked." I think generally speaking the demand for toys has increased over the last 3-4 years given the pandemic/stimulus situation and the fact that a bunch of Gen Xers are entering the final half of their lifespan. But given the glut of plastic being injected into available supply and the general tightening of personal budgets, people are going to be more selective. Bad news for Super7 given the points you made in your video.
    2) Is it just me or has Super7 been committing a bunch of unforced errors? Their price point is too high. That's just generally accepted by every collector I follow. I can't think of a time when a toy reviewer said, "This Super7 toy is good value at this price." And then there are a bunch of decisions that seem questionable (your "a king is making random decisions" point). For example: the mishandling of Rat King, the messaging behind their SilverHawks line ("Feeling duped? Just buy another overpriced figure with the vac metal treatment you wanted in the first place. Hurr hurr"), the bonkers decision to crowdfund a $500 vehicle literally no one asked for.
    The only Super7 toys I ever bought were on deep, deep clearance. I actually sort of want that recent 1987 Cartoon Ultimates! Shredder and was actually considering just paying full price. But now with all these clearance sales, I'd be a sucker to buy. And, just my luck, the BBTS clearance doesn't include this one. Too soon? I'll wait until Black Friday season, I guess

    Super 7 figs are expensive cause their office is in the most expensive part of San Francisco, not because the figures are well made or expensive to make. That’s obvious when you look at the product they put out.
    But I don’t think super 7 is in trouble. They still consistently put out stuff, and the prices for new products aren’t going down at all. I do think they need a big wake up call…

    you are spot on about the collector disappointment with S7 in terms of prototype pre-order pictures look nothing like the final product. I know these toy companies will stress that "It's JUST a prototype and in fine print we do inform that final products may differ" but imagine having starting an entire collection based on the promise of one pre-order photo that looks so good but when it shipped, it really looked way way different than the pre order promises. I have stopped supporting S7 after the Cheetara, man I feel so cheated. I pre ordered the Cheetara based on that pre-order picture and when mine shipped, it looks nothing like it after some delays and there were alot of paint QC issues on it. These figures ain't cheap either like you said.

    Interesting. A lot of S7 figures, especially those solicited during the Pandemic, have pretty hefty prices in the EU still, I think some of the upcoming regular figures come in at 90-100 dollars, when converted from €. That includes tax, of course, but still...oof. I don't see how that can be a sustainable model for Super 7, and apprently it isn't (or BBTS just overstocked pretty significantly...).

    I think you hit the nail on the head, Hatter. Super7 is definitely capable of making fantastic figures. When they pull off a good figure, it jumps to contender for top figures of the year for me. If they can keep on top of QC, I feel they are worth the money. You can get pretty good value for what you get. Often times, you get a whole lotta plastic and sculpt for the price.... but that quality has to be top notch.
    I'm still in on the turtles, but I'm picky about what I get right away.

  • @honda2363

    Maybe another topic, but I noticed a lot of NECA figures recently also went "on sale" at BBTS but the price is unchanged. Many figures that were $37.99 before still are $37.99. In this case BBTS is labelling figures "on sale" with a certain percent off, only in relation to the MSRP, which was always shown next to the price. I hope I'm making sense..🤣
    These Super7 prices are crazy! But has anyone else noticed the "on sale but not actually on sale" prices on BBTS?

  • @Dudewhair1

    This is a steal! They need to drop their prices in general tho. I do like their figures but they gotta drop their prices to $35-40 especially now they’re more widely available through Amazon and Best Buy. Before they could of named the price since they were more limited but those days are over.

    I love my Super7 TMNT. In fact, when I redid my shelves I took down my 90's movie figures so I could display the Super7. I think they outclass my NECA's with the exception of Krang and his Walker. Of course, I am a huge nostalgia freak who grew up with the playmate's figures. I would love to have gotten them at $25 instead of $55 for sure. Who wouldn'? I don't feel like I overpaid though. I still get excited looking at them on the shelf. For me, I think the real threat to my NECA and Super7 collections(ing) is if Mezco goes deep on TMNT. Cause my Mezco figures outclass every other figure in my collection by miles.

    Super7 has always been overpriced for what you get. The looks of the figures are great but QC is seriously lacking. This sale is an insane deal, but I don't think I'm going to start any new lines with this company. I might grab a few more TMNT to complement the ones I already have. I've started spotting Ultimates figures at Walmart now, so maybe Super7 is looking to expand distribution and hopefully can begin to lower prices.

    Super7 at Ross and Ollie's would be panic mode for the company, they're way overpriced but BBTS randomly slashes prices on stock. I remember buying some import figures that I didn't even want or know about just because they were soo cheap.

    There were 2 things that I knew where gonna cause Super7 Ultimates brand to collapse. They grab/started too many brands. When they got in with Hasbro with all those licenses. GIJoe, Transformers, Power Rangers-just too many lines all at once. Especially when the price point went over $50 a stand figure. The Ultimates figures are too expensive when you take In account taxes & shipping costs added on🤷‍♂️
