      I'm little bit confused -- On your video the 390 was super positive. But your scores are pretty poor for this bike?The ergonomics on this bike were very comfortable but on your score Body Position: 3/10
      The 390 is really great but you put 48% for the ranking
      Not sure how to interpret that.

    Bro....this bike does just fine on the highway. Coming from commuting on a Ninja 300 to now having the 2018 Duke 390 for a couple weeks it does WAY better on the hwy than my old Ninja 300. Plenty of passing power in 6th gear. I cruise around 75mph which is 10 over the speed limit in CA anyways. It never feels like it's working too hard or revving too much. I've topped it out at 104mph and I'm 6ft 230lbs. Great all around bike. It surprised me just as much as it surprised you on the test ride. Off highway power is probably the best for the less than 400cc class bikes its just always eager to go. The parallel twins want to be revved higher to get going where the Duke just rips right away.

    The 2017 and 2018 duke 390 are same bike pretty much except colors and radiator fan guard on left side leg. I have 2017 duke 390 and I live in rural area and have to drive mixture of gravel roads, rural roads, mountain roads, city streets, highways, and freeways, to get anywhere. Nearest grocery and fast food is 30 minutes away. This bike handles it all great, very flickable and nibble. The freeways do get a little breezy (naked bike after all), but have no issues crusing at 75-80 with enough power left over to overtake when needed (top speed of 100+). Also getting average of 75-80mpg. Pretty sweet bike, highly recommend.

      Queensland Aussie here. Needed a commuter to get from 1 side of Brisbane to the other, so bold as brass I took a 790 duke for a test ride, got back and had a chat to the sales team when the bloke said, bear with me, take this 390 for a quick spin. Threw me the keys and said go. I got about 300 from the shop before the decision was made. I saved $5000 and got the 390. My 1 hr 15 minute commute is now 20 minutes. Never going back to a car for the ride to work. Lane splitting and lane filtering is an absolute dream easy on the 390. Front at the lights every single time.

    Hi there, Romit from India and a proud owner of the Ktm Duke390 2017 version.
    1) Yes 100kmph is 62mph.
    2) The KMPH can be converted to MPH from the settings and also it’s got RBW
    3) Actually both the RC390 and KTM D390 are similar in terms of performance. Both do 0-62 mph in around 5.5 secs and will max out at 107 mph/172 kmph (speed gun reading). Exactly like you said it, it’s brilliant on the technical sections.

    15:48 The redesign was actually done in 2017. The only difference between 2017 and 2018 are a higher idle RPM radiator and the small metal plate you saw to reduce heating of your leg.

    Bought the 2018 last November (2017). It's a great bike to learn with, as it's very forgiving. I haven't rode much highway, but this thing is great for 40-60 minute commutes. It can easily get to 100 MPH, unless in head winds (with a weighted backpack). Now that I've gone TFT screens for speedo/Techometer/next song selector, I can't go back to analog. The only issue I had was the TFT screen's clock won't stay set when you turn the bike off. Other than that, a real awesome bike to start with!

      check other dealerships, being that the 2017 model is a leftover model from the previous year, you should try to negotiate and do not mention you have cash. Water them down as much as you can then offer them a certain cash on the table take or leave. Have had success with trying to negotiate for my R3

    I used to own a duke 390! I loved it, only thing I would add is ktm maintenance. The first service for me was $500.... kinda high considering the bike is just over $5000. Another problem is after the 390 I had a hard time “growing” into a bigger 650 bike because the output on the 390 is so high (respectively). My new bike is the Z900 for that reason... 390 puts out about 42hp and the Z650 puts out 60... not really something to “grow into”. Solid review Chase!

    I've been riding the Duke 390 in the UK for a few months now. It's definitely one of (if not the) best bikes in this price point.
    I've been commuting with it too and I can safely say you won't have any trouble on the highways although the lack of windshield is kinda annoying as you noted and at highway speeds, the wind really messes with you.
    Overall, if you are looking for a commuter which can do a bit off adventure and even some light off-road, I'd definitely recommend it. Although, if you travel on highways a lot, I'd recommend getting an aftermarket windshield.

    Chase, you can connect your phone to the dash via Bluetooth. Get notifications from the phone onto the bike screen while riding.
    There are ktm power parts too, akrapovic exhaust, petal discs, race sprockets. Taller wind screen and handle bar wind deflectors.
    Also, the kmph can be changed to show mph on the dash on all ktms.

    KM/H to MPH formula you can easily remember: 100km/h / 1.6= 62,5MPH

    got a 2020 and i love it, its like a supermoto and a mto7 had a baby. i added a power commander, 48t sprocket, airfilter, and full exaust and she is a totally different bike now. power wheelies all day in 2nd and clutches up pretty easy in 3rd now, also way more pull in 4th and 5th gear which previously were pretty sluggish. The sprocket is definitely the best upgrade though, i did that first and it makes it so much pokier and i didnt really lose any top speed. the dukes are awesome, i should have a 790 early next year, i can't wait!!

    I don't get why Americans always say that small cc bikes don't have enough power. The fastest you are allowed to go is 75mph. Us Germans take 125ccs on the Autobahn which is a Highway without speed limit. On the other hand a 3 hour drive is considered long.

    I ended up getting one of these as a third bike in addition to my Yamaha FJR1300 and Triumph Scrambler. Around town, I find myself riding this more than my other two. Aside from the review and weather issues, it's actually pretty good on the freeway. It'll do a hundred and won't struggle getting there, and that's all you need. This thing absolutely needs a windscreen. I put the PUIG screen on mine. I think if your test bike had one, you might have a different opinion of it's highway capabilities. As a big city commuter bike, short jaunts in the freeway are part of it. The windscreen makes a huge difference for these periods. Now, would I take mine across country? Nah, I have my feej for that. However, I wouldn't hesitate to take it three hundred and fifty miles to Hill Country, TX in an instant. Message me for pics of the windscreen. Oh, and one more thing. Drill out that baffle!!!!! It sounds like motocross bike after that.

      Best to get a test ride and see what you think. The bike is not a low rev thumper like the old British singles, you need 4,000rpm showing really, much under that it clatters and shunts if you are not careful.
      It likes to rev!
      Although mine’s not run in yet. I am told it improves once run in.

    7:46/to 8:03 you're in 5th gear, not 6th, you're redlining at 90 kph which is around 55 mph, given the engine size and tuning of that bike as well as having the 6th gear, and its bigger engine than my rebel 300, there's no reason why it cant handle comfortably enough a 65 mph highway cruising speed and not straining the engine and/or the transmission. Sincerely, is there something I'm missing here because my rebel handles 65 no problem but starts straining some at 72mph

    • @885wc
      @885wc 5 лет назад

      No, it'll handle a cruise of 120 - 140 KPH all day long on the Indian highways. I had the older version. Planning on getting the new one.

    Why are the indicators not LED in india we have it in LED

    • @ChaseN194
      @ChaseN194 6 лет назад +17

      Biker Buddy Motovlogs smaller bikes in America often get less attention to detail compared to the bikes sold in other countries because America has no restrictions on what bikes new riders can ride. Thus: 600cc, 400cc, 650cc, 1000cc can all be purchased as soon as you want them making a bigger market for bigger bikes. I myself started on a ninja 650 which in some countries wouldn't be legal for a first time rider, after 7k miles I'm buying a gsxr750, once again something much bigger. Big bikes have all the LEDs, nice displays, nice fairings and designs, most beginner bikes (650cc and below) are stripped bare unless you spend extra money on a bike that will have bad resell value.

    • @Twinspinner
      @Twinspinner 6 лет назад +11

      TwinSpinner I asked it's the same as Canada the bulbs have to be a certain size and length led bulbs are too tiny and drivers will not be able to see them. But this in my opinion is bullshit because leds are brighter than the incandescent bulbs. But hey US and Canada also have a stupid law on cars allowed in our country certain cc's have to have a certain amount of horse power which is the reason why we don't have 250cc inline 4s anymore or 4AGE toyota engine and b18 civic motor since they rev so high that they cost emissions (and are loud but who hates that). I like to slap the people who made these stupid laws..
