    This is amazing! I am curious tho, wouldn't a nutrient solution, especially in the reservoir, lead to bacterial and fungal growth? Wouldnt want the roots to rot

    • @jasonlucas9730

      We use a earth based mineral blend. Plus with the circulation of the water and the fact that the tower is made of opaque food grade plastic we do not get bacteria or fungus in the water

    • @LivingTowers

      Great question! The system is closed and opaque so algae does not grow. We use a earth based mineral solution so bacteria and fungus are extremely rare. However, as the Towers each have their own reservoir, if fungus or bacteria does occur, it is contained to just the one Tower!

These are connected to a dosertron which doses the minerals with water and fills the gravity tank. The gravity tank is a large barrel that contains your mixed nutrients and is a little higher than your Tower Garden reservoirs. Each tower has a float and when the float goes down the solution from the gravity tank fills the reservoir. 🙂

    How is the timing for the pump determined? Is it preset with an estimation or is their any way to monitor, considering the water uptake would change based on the plant, growth stage and climate? Also, if its meant to be in the sun, how is the plastic being protected from sun damage?

    • @LivingTowers
      @LivingTowers  Год назад +1

      The pumps on the residential Towers are pre set. This is a result of years of testing and seeing what works best in all environments. This is the same timing Tower Farms have been using all across the US for around 15 years. :-) Plants take up what they need. Watering more often doesn't make them grow any faster, just like adding more nutrients doesn't either.
      The Tower is made from a USDA-approved, virgin ABS plastic that is opaque and double UV stabilized, protecting it from the damaging rays of the sun.

      @@aleenaprasannan2146 Underwatering is not something I've ever seen in the 14 years we've been growing Towers, both commercially and at home. You have to remember, as a plant gets bigger, so does its root system. Therefore the amount of water and nutrients it can absorb increases.

    How long can the plants survive with a power failure? Have you considered a solar / battery option?

    • @LivingTowers
      @LivingTowers  Год назад +4

      It's going to depend on the temperature, wind, size of the plant, and whether the tower is inside or outside. When we had a hurricane approaching a few years ago, I brought my Tower inside and didn't even plug it in. I took it back outside the next day, plugged it in and everything was fine. Plants will start to wilt after around 30 minutes or so (depending on temperature, wind, size etc), but bounce back as long as not too much time has passed. This is around 6 hours, but again it depends on the factors I've already mentioned.
      You can absolutely use solar. We've looked into it but a solar system that powers just the Tower would cost around the same price as the Tower itself, so many don't bother with that. WE often go to shows and fairs and use a deep-cycle marine battery with an invertor to power the Towers for the weekend.

    • @LivingTowers

      The crops need UV light, so the Tower needs to be in full sun or you will need to use grow lights. Bugs can and do happen inside. Unless the Tower is growing in a completely controlled environment, bugs are always a possibility. It's harder for natural predators to get inside so if you do end up with bugs inside it can often be tougher to deal with.
      My biggest tip, whether growing inside or outside, is to check your Tower daily. Just a quick, 15-second once-over. It's much easier to deal with bugs before they multiply.

      @@LivingTowers This is called a drip hydroponic system, it is not aeroponics. Actual aeroponics uses an aerosol with the entire concept being that the fine particles absorb nearly instantly in the roots to allow for minimal standing water to resist algae formation and root rot, but maximum oxygen exposure to encourage root development over green growth. I don't remember the exact particle size but aeroponics is easily recognizable as it forms a cloud rather than a typical irrigation spray.

    Well shortcuts could be expensive.
    What takes 4 months to grow, if grown in 1 month, could be commercially viable but not as healthy, no matter which neutrients' solution you grow it with.

      The Tower Garden company wanted to know for sure, so inner of the first things they did was have the University of Mississippi conduct a study. The study found that plants grown in a Tower Garden with the Tower Garden Mineral Blend show a higher product yield and comparable antioxidant properties (using DPPH and cell-based assays) to those grown in the soil.
      You can read the full study here ⬇️⬇️⬇️

    The site doesn't load. Also it would be helpful if you add the in front of it so it becomes a link.

      The tower comes with a pre-programmed timer so it's not running all the time. 😊

      No need. Just grow crops that will grow in those conditions. We grow year-round in South Florida.

      Hey Roger! A Tower Garden FLEX is $670. You wil need water, weeds, electricity and Mineral Blend. That's going to cost you around $110 a year. We have lots of resources to help you, we're in the final stages of launching our online workshop too. But if you buy a Tower through us we will add you to our text campaign to send you the info as you'll need it. We are also just a phone call away!
