- Josh and I finally had the opportunity to build the new Lion Knight's Castle and it did not disappoint. LEGO did a great job with this castle and it is definitely worthy of the 90th anniversary badge.

It's really awesome seeing how much Josh has grown up, and he still wants to spend time with his dad. Most teenagers pretty much ignore their parents to hang out with friends, sports, or xbox/ playstation.. I'm not really into the castle theme, as I mostly got city/town stuff back when I was a child. Back in the early 80s, as occasionally I did get a few themes that I didnt play with but still have. I'm so happy to see your whole family loves my Same love for Lego's. Thanks again Alex. 👍👍👏👏🙏🙏
The problem with most parents is that they ignore their kids, who, in turn, have to fill that void in their souls with PlayStation. Teen age is too late to start hanging out with your kids if you have been ignoring them during their childhood and thought them annoying.
Alex did some right parenting here, if his kids don't ignore him.
@@BrickTemplar some parents treat their career & other bad habits as their main goal in life. When it should be there family & children, but here with the Nunes family you only see & hear positive stuff. You have Alex here great father & devoted Dad to his family. Then you have President Mindy who is a great Nurse & Mother to her family. Again I say Thank You for your Dedication & Service to helping everyone. It's people like this that makes me smile & gives me belief in humanity as well as God the father & Jesus the son.🎄🎄👍👍🙏🙏
Watching This i didnt even looked at the build, only on Josh. WHEN HAD HE GROWN THAT MUCH?!!!😂❤️
I know, it's crazy! Kids grow up way too fast.
I just built this this weekend as well and I agree with both your negatives: the ramp looks a bit plain and the lack of a king. But ooh boy did they delivery on every other front, the entire castle just looks gorgeous, it’s my favourite LEGO set of all times! The Medieval Blacksmith is 2nd and Pirates of Barracuda Bay is 3rd. Yeah I love the Castle and Pirate themes. ☺️
Part of me both appreciates and dislikes that this isn't a "Royal" castle. It's kind of 'odd' how this is an expensive, extravagant set, one that makes you want to say "They spared no expense", and they didn't, but despite that, it's just a Knight's castle. So no fancy throne room really, no king and queen, just a queen. I almost don't mind these aspects because it's something different, but with such an expensive set, it's a bit odd that it isn't a royal one with a king, throne room, etc. The set is so great that I really don't mind though.
The ramp is probably the weakest part and I don't even mind it that badly. But it could be better.
I really like this castle. I've never been a huge fan of lego castles in the past, but this looks epic
love it, I really want one and perhaps when finished I need a 2nd... My little brother got that yellow castle for his 8th birthday (hoping he still has it, for rebuilding purposes)
Castle is sooo cool. Saving up for that now. Couldn’t stay away from the lighthouse, so Lego budget is down a bit, but cannot wait to build it myself hopefully by the end of the year. I like that even Josh was super excited about it. Looking forward toyour medival world growing and taking shape !
Hi guys , thank for the review . Looks amazing , that is my winter project !! I remember fondly building the 1984 Kings Castle , at the time it was an amazing set and super fun to build , but seeing it again brought back so many good memories . I had a ton of sets back then and have sadly -- decades ago , sold them . I made a ton for The Black Seas Barracuda -- sealed set sold in 2006 . I had liquidated all my sets , then 2 years ago I was walking through Target and saw the Lego Pirate Ship , I just had to grab it . 2 years later and there is no shame in being an AFOL !!
Not so popular a thing back in the 70 & 80`s . There was no VIP back then either . When Lego started the VIP program . I did join and have my card , knowing that someday I will be an AFOL again !! Did it take a pandemic to bring me back , not really , but now I have the time to truly enjoy the build . There are no speed builds , I would rather just enjoy the whole process .
Wishing you and your family well , and catch you guys later !! Dreamer
This set is fantastic. Lego did a good job. The throwback themes are there. The secret hide out, the shields above the gate, the ramp, the shields above the dinner table, the round shields, the yellow mini castle, the wizard, the monthy python shieldknight.... I love all those details ❤️
Yes, it should be in the middle and you should open it!
I like these reviews. Just the right amount of detail.
You need a Black Knight’s Castle, that’s one of my favourites.
Such an awesome set, easily my favorite! Looking forward to seeing this layout progress!
Thanks, now the real fun begins.
I think if the new castle stays in the corner of the layout it would look better opened up to see the whole thing. Also I'd consider combining some of the castles so it would look more like a unified kingdom, with markets surrounding the main castle keep. Looking good, keep it up 👍
This castle is awesome, with tons of great details. I didn't know before about the holes for dropping cannonballs.
It might be cool to raise up one of the castles a little bit.
It was nice to see josh in the review.
Great you guys got to build this together and awesome review (I've watched like a dozen by now).
The only downside to this beautiful set is not even part of the set itself... would have prefered to get a GWP of a like a small KIng's Carriage of some sort with a King.
I really hope LEGO comes with a couple of smaller, more affordable Castle sets as well next year. Like a Kings Carriage, Outposts, 2009 Medieval Village Market kinda stuff...
Have one of these hidden and boxed in my office. I don’t know how to tell my wife; if I did I had built it already 🤔😅
That's funny. Good luck, my friend!
Wonderfully designed set. Aside from the lack of a King (and accompanying throne room) and more varied minifigs (like a court jester but past CMF series can cover that shortfall if you don't mind paying aftermarket prices), I think Majisto the Magician (aka wizard minifig) looks very plain because he has no printing whatsoever.
Physical Lego stores apparently have the same torso and robe skirt piece available as part of Pick-a-Brick/build-a-minifig but with the missing (and very nice) printing included so it might be worth visiting your local Lego store to pick it up.
Awesome, thank you!
Great to see
very nice
The king was included in the set…he’s the skeleton in the dungron haha just kidding
Oh no! haha, this made me laugh, thanks!
That’s SO wizard!
Looks fantastic
I see that you also have my medieval village set too which was another good set.
Fantastic set. I hope they continue the icons line for many years. The only thing I'd change is the minifigures, I prefer the original ones. The Galaxy Explorer has minifigs of the original design, why not put them in the Lion Knight's Castle?
Your room has awesome lighting, and the photos are really great
Buy an Extra 3-1 castle to make it bigger like the lion knights castle!
Alex am very happy that have a great news for you I have 1.7K views
That is fantastic! Keep it up
I think it’s cool there’s no King, especially with the Tudor style black and white buildings. The Tudor period of England had two Queens Elizabeth and Mary. Elizabeth I never married and is considered one of the most impactful Monarchs in British History. She even rode before troops wearing armor prior to an attempted Spanish Invasion and gave the famous speech with the line "I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king”. So sexist, but she was a complete kick ass. Beheaded her first cousin Mary Queen of Scots, whose son James became her successor and was the first King of both England and Scotland.
I think this is for sure one of the best sets that LEGO ever released.
In my opinion, it belongs next to classics like the Technic Arocs and BrickBank.
I totally agree by the way with the ramp... It is just a strange thing that doesn't fit with the rest of the castle. LEGO should have really put more thought in what to do here...
good choice with the show when your building
Thanks, it keeps us entertained during the builds.
thats a nice build for sure. its going to look so sweet in your Medieval area.
This castle is great. The downside is with the minis. I don't mind that it's a warrior queen, but there also be some nobles (princes, princesses) in nice attire. I would also like to have seen more villagers. And the wizard could have done with some printing on torso and robe.
I think the wizzard should have been part of an expanded line.... a wizards workshop or something, with an enemy to fight, perhalps an updated lego vintage style dragon. I have no Idea why they are not releasing more to go with this so far, they have lost out on so much for me going to the off retail market for accessories.... LEGO missing out on big time stuff...
I feel like the lego disney castle should be apart this section
1) Lion knights: The new Lion Knight's Castle should be elevated (opened up) and back center with the main town in the middle of the main area. Assuming you use the old king castle for parts, the pieces can be used for border outposts or part of the City wall for the Lion Knight town.
2) Black Falcons: Use the Medieval Blacksmith + their Creator 3-1 Medieval Castle. Having 2 or 3 sets put together to form their own town would be great. Keep an open field between the Lion Knights and Black Falcons for battles or a tournament.
3) Forest people: They can have their black tree forest area to a side (Castle in the Forest + Forest Hideout).
4) Löwenstein Castle can be an independent kingdom or part of the Lion Knights or Black Falcons.
Love these suggestions. Thank you!
It’s a fantastic set but no throne room. I don’t need a king but need the great hall w/throne.
That's a good point, there is no throne room. very unusual.
right, its a knight castle so is not the kings castle, but maybe shes extended royalty? but not queen ellibible... hmm.. but yes, missing that big room for the main action for play, I have been thinking how to add on to this for that. this still is the most amazing set lego ever made and can be modified. I guess if they had added everything it would have cost even way more, apparently early models had to get scaled down
Amazing review Alex keep uo tge good work!
Looks amazing and has plenty of bonus features, but for AUD $599.00 it’s a toss up between this or the upcoming UCS Razor Crest that’s going to somewhere around $850ish. Can’t afford both. Cheers. 🇦🇺
So I went to the local Lego shop late yesterday, they had a fully built Castle in a display case, wow it’s great in real life, I really like the work that’s gone into it, almost bought it but have lots of Star Wars still to build. Will think about it in a month or so.
Yes the castle
Looks incredible. Not top of my want list (titanic has that honour), but defo on it. Have to pick this up before it retires.
Great video :)
Thanks a lot for pointing out that there aren't too many ladders and/or stairs 😟🙏🏼...had noticed that there's no grand throne room as well, like the others have mentioned too 🤦🏻♂️...
Great looking set. Have you thought about taking the tall treehouse and moving it into this section for the forestmen?
I would place the lion knights castle kind of central but a little off, with the different factions around its perimiter surrounded by city and forrest/ farm land.
After built this castle. Do you had any extra parts bricks left of this castle and how many?
Yes, lots of extra pieces, but they are were all pieces that you'd typically see as extra pieces. All very small.
@@alexnunes Still great to see many extra pieces in this set. Thanks for info.
Great video, but what`s up with having/placing ANYthing under the tables/the city layout? If it was a underwater world, maybe.., but castle _under_ a city..? That`s a big stretch :)
This is an amazing castle and I would love to own it, but I don't know how I could afford it with such a high price, the current castle I have is the #6081 cruisader castle from 1990.
i would like to see if you could maybe build a small harbor for your castle theme and maybe build some modified pirate ships for your knights and villagers
Awesome video. I had $120 in vip points I had to redeem by the end of the month so of course this was one I was thinking but I was also split between my last batman art for my art wall and as luck would have it the DeLorean would come back in stock right at the right time for me so of course I went with the DeLorean just to make sure I have that in time for my birthday since that was to be the gift I bought myself on my birthday this year in December had it still been out of stock from lego. Now I plan to get the last art set on my birthday and still meet all lego goals of 2022.
How much time you both spent to build this set. Where are you from. Is that your son?
I spent about 8 hours on the build. We live in Utah. And this is my son.
@@alexnunes will the price come down? Will the set retire? Waiting for the review of lego mountain fortress from you.
Alex, can you make a Death Star floating above the city. Maybe a Star Wars themed area?
Floating? hmm, might be a tough one. Gotta say, never had that suggestion before.
Hes probrably gonna be around 30 dollars but there was a pretty good looking king in the 13th minifigures series if you want one
Next Lego need to release invasion force set, with trebuchets and siege towers with a king minifigure leading the army to recapture the castle from his wife...
That is awesome lol
No king? Come on!
It's the big boy. LoL 😆 I just sed it like 2 seconds before U seed it lol .brake 🏦💰🎯..lol .
9:04 you could just swap the heads around if you want
Ah, for sure!
But it definitely would have been nice to get a proper king.
@@pjatkins568 well it is a knights castle... but I think a king would have been better and make the wizard apart of another set. where are the companion sets?
@@jacobe1942 yes they should definitely bring back castle fully and not just a couple of sets each year
@@pjatkins568 in this case both the seller and the customer lose. I spend more money than I should buying accessories from the after market and not LEGO
400$ is worth it? In which world? Lego is going crazy with their prices
Buy 6 creator 3-1 and go nuts hahab
Some women we refer to as queen this and that in history were actually crowned as kings, so that queen minifigure might actually be a king.
:)
Bought this set a while back and just recently got around to building it, I had the same complaints; It was great to have the Queen, but they should have included the King also. The entrance to the main gate was my least favorite part and I am currently remaking that. Pretty much everything else was great though and I don't regret buying it. One last nitpick... I didn't like the roles of the female figs as knights/soldiers, it wasn't historically accurate (I know its just a toy but still not my preference). I get what Lego is trying to do with inclusion and everything, but I don't think that make sense for a set like this. Call me a sexist if you like.
Thanks for the comment and I do agree with what you said. I don't think it is sexist to prefer historically accurate gender roles in castle themes.
I also have it and built it and for me it is one of the best, probably the best Lego ever created👌greetz from lake Constance-Germany😊👍Michael
I think in a balanced sense of fun, size, play ability, universal appeal, wow factor, beauty, all the great rakings it would get in these categories make it the greatest set ever for sure. I pretty much got back into lego because of it after 20 plus years.
How long does it take to make it?
@@josecarranza7555 took me about 3.5 days but could be done in 2 maybe if working a full day at it
@@josecarranza7555 I built it during two weeks always when I had time, few minutes or hours. It makes really fun and for me also after months it is my favourite lego set until now. For me it is absolutely worth the money. I paid less then the lego price because of VIP-Points and other cash back (shoop) here in Europe.
@@jacobe1942 I don’t think I’ve owned a Lego before but this caught my attention.
It looks like fun.
Does the manual show you how to put the pieces one by one?
What do you recommend for first time Lego buyers?
Lego too afraid to add a king to a remake of the king’s castle.
Good review. Glad you mentioned the female minifigs. You know, Lego has to be woke and politically correct with all that. smh
Yep😏😏
well the plus side is one can swap heads and this gives a lot of relative poses for female minis
Queens are much cooler
7:00 You’re assuming their gender lol
Me not lol. Lego want absolutely to be inclusive and it's just ridiculous in this case. I did not know women were knights in the middle age. 🤣 I changed all minifigs to templar minifigs. Soooooo much better now.
@@Stug9680 What?
I like where you placed it but ive been thinking having it more in the middle up agaisnt the curtain/divider with the castle opened up facing the kingdom, might look a little better
I'll give that a try, thanks!
