Lead singer Jay Kay was born Jason Luís Cheetham in Stretford, London on 30 December 1969, the son of English cabaret singer Karen Kay and Portuguese guitarist Luís Saraiva. He did not meet his biological father until 2001. Kay's identical twin, David, died a few weeks after the two were born. Wikipedia.
A couple of people have commented about the Stevie Wonder vibe and I agree. Still love the vibe that this band puts out. Throwback and modern at the same time. 🔥
was always fun to see everyone's shock that the floor is not moving/rolling, the entire enclosure is being moved around him. such an epic music video, even MTV got it wrong when they introduced it and then it won MTV video of the year.
So many great tracks in Jamiroquai's discography! ... Recently I learned about their song "Angeline" from the deluxe edition of their album "Rock Dust Light Star", it's simply amazing.
I saw the debut I believe on MTV. I looked and looked and tried to figure out the bizarre movement...but the song was too damn funky to think about it!
I was over 40 when they first showed up with their uniqueness and i loved them- like you, their music, their sound? just pulled me in but I couldn't quite define it. Jazzy, pop, soul? Never have figured it out but I loved 'em right off the Go..
Bro I have been checking your reactions out the last couple days and they are spot on....great work and really cool selections.....I really dug Black Cow by Steely Dan. Walter Becker (lead, slide guitar) and Donald Fagen (vocals, keys) are two world class musicians trained at Peabody where they met. They are prolific songwriters and have more great songs than just about anybody. All during the 70's, 80's and 90's it was just one hit after another but they never went on tour.....Their best Rock and Roll can be heard on two selections.....SHOW BIZ KIDS (Becker is filthy on the slide) and BLACK FRIDAY ( a crime scene, they murder this one). Your Steely Dan experience isn't complete until you hear these two.....trust me, I've been a rock fan since the early 70's.
Thanks! Please react to live version of Space Cowboy from the Montreux Jazz festival 1995. There are two, in the best one he's wearing a striped skull cap in the thumbnail. The slow jam they go into is other worldly:)) Love your channel. So wonderful to watch a musician react to amazing stuff.
I had exactly the same reaction as you mid 90s when I heard Space Cowboy - just couldn't believe how good their sound was. And unique!. Just go ahead and listen to their fantastic output. I don't get that much Stevie (and had a similar reaction when hearing I was made to love her for the first time, so have loved Stevie for even longer). I really think Jay Kay's an original talent.
*Another Excellent* choice of song. Here are the song suggestions from comments under your Space Cowboy reaction, and here. Her _Space Cowboy_ has more 'sparkle' to me.
Jah-Meer-Oh-Qu-Eye. Impossible to mess up version. lol Or just Jay Kay for the singer. :p Great track. This was a nice surprise! This group is funky as hell. I first happened upon them in '98, when they did the Godzilla soundtrack (dope song btw, 'Deeper Underground'). Everything's a vibe. :) Edit: And you're right, not a lot of funk groups anymore. Jamiroquai's really helping to keep that sound alive.
Wil you have reacted to five Jamiroquai songs. But, you haven't reacted to their best R&B song that they made called Alright. The video and song of Alright is fire. You will def like it. It's up your alley.
Time to watch them live. Start with the early years though as that’s when they were more funk than disco. As already commented on, Stuart Zender (bassist) was only a teenager when the band formed. This live version of ‘The Kids’ from 1993 is 🔥 ruclips.net/video/a0uRSQ8nAWc/видео.html (Notice the chunk of wood Stuart hacked out of his bass)
Yoyoka does an amazing cover of this song on drums: it gives you a better idea how complicated and intricate the drumming is. Giver her a watch on this. Plus the rest of the band is top notch.
The moving floor wasn't actually moving at all. It was the whole room / camera on wheels. A bunch of people on all sides, pushing the walls where they were told to.
To hear the lead singer's (Jay's) voice best, watch their Half the Man official video. It's stripped back but melodic, one complete take no editing and sooo incredible, funky, gorgeous. ruclips.net/video/GkL7cVqIZHU/видео.html
It's not the floor, but the walls that move. Iirc everything is in camera, except the bird. It's been a long time since I watched it, but here's the video of how they made that video: ruclips.net/video/MzwY7ii582Y/видео.html
This video fucked people up when it hit. I was just all fucked up by an English dude named "Jason Quinn" that sounded like Stevie Wonder! 😎💯 But its just SOOOOO cool!

This video was cutting edge when it was released. One of the most memorable videos during the heyday of the MTV era.
The heyday of MTV was in the 80's....LOL I was there.
The album version is longer with a very nice extended middle section. The bass player on the first few albums is really excellent.
Stuart Zender was both funky and complex throughout his time with Jamiroquai.
Toby Smith keyboards are out of this planet
Yes, britsoul. Three words: Brand New Heavies.
The genius of the video is only bettered by the music
Saw them live a few years ago, what a night that was, jazz funk at it's very best.
Yep... Agree... I visited his concerts in 2005 and 2011.
I hope to see them live one day! I would do anything to hear Virtual Insanity and Time Won't Wait live
BEST reaction to this song I've seen so far. And I've seen a lot! Loved it.💜This won the MTV video of the year in 1997.
The first time I heard this song it reminded me of Stevie Wonder!
Jamiroquai covering Signed, Sealed Delivered ruclips.net/video/hSvlNRIo7_Q/видео.html 🙌🏽
A couple of people have commented about the Stevie Wonder vibe and I agree. Still love the vibe that this band puts out. Throwback and modern at the same time. 🔥
Makes me feel old!!! Feels like yesterday this came out... it was 26 years ago!!
was always fun to see everyone's shock that the floor is not moving/rolling, the entire enclosure is being moved around him. such an epic music video, even MTV got it wrong when they introduced it and then it won MTV video of the year.
I love how happy you seemed while you listened to the song!
So many great tracks in Jamiroquai's discography! ... Recently I learned about their song "Angeline" from the deluxe edition of their album "Rock Dust Light Star", it's simply amazing.
I think these guys are timeless.
Great sound, you just cannot stop your feet from tapping and fingers snapping. Clean and crisp. Thanks!
This guy knew the future's demise. Electronics govern our thought and perspective.
Good song , great singer , awesome video ! Thumbs up !
I saw the debut I believe on MTV. I looked and looked and tried to figure out the bizarre movement...but the song was too damn funky to think about it!
As a kid, Jay would travel around the UK with his mother who was a performer in clubs. That's where his love of the whole Jazz-Funk thing came from.
Jamiroquai is one of my favorites artists. He's so real. I love the lirics
The walls are on rollers. The floor is the only thing that's not moving
I was over 40 when they first showed up with their uniqueness and i loved them- like you, their music, their sound? just pulled me in but I couldn't quite define it. Jazzy, pop, soul? Never have figured it out but I loved 'em right off the Go..
Add a little Michael Jackson and Stevie W. Too!
One of the best live performances I have ever seen, music done right.

Yaaassssss! I love me some Jamiroquai! I've seen them live 4 times. Good memories. Lots of Love from the UK 💜 -x-
‘Alright’, ‘Little L’, ‘canned heat, ‘you give me something’, ‘love foolosophy’, ‘tallulah’ and many more bangers from them 👍
Channeling Stevie Wonder, for sure...:)
The variety of your reaction choices is commendable, you are covering all kinds of bases.
Thanks! Please react to live version of Space Cowboy from the Montreux Jazz festival 1995. There are two, in the best one he's wearing a striped skull cap in the thumbnail. The slow jam they go into is other worldly:))
Love your channel. So wonderful to watch a musician react to amazing stuff.
They are probably my favorite band from the 90s. It’s actually a band and not a computerized group.
When I first heard them in 1993 I was so stunned!!! LOOOVE THEM
I had exactly the same reaction as you mid 90s when I heard Space Cowboy - just couldn't believe how good their sound was. And unique!. Just go ahead and listen to their fantastic output. Canned Heat. Go there now.

stuart zender once again 🎸🔥 his basslines insane
The album version has a longer bridge - worth a listen!
Glad you were able to react to the video on this one. I know it can be difficult sometimes.
This song was on my morning walk list for a decade. And there’s more… 😁❤️
And down the rabbit hole you go... Getting another suggestion in for live in Verona
"When you gonna learn" please, my favorite of them
LET'S GOOOOO! more jamiroquai to come :) *hand rub*
Tallulah " great song 🎵 👌
We need more Jamiroquai.
This song always delights me from day 1. Mesmerizing-At points his voice reminds me of a young Stevie Wonder.
More Jamiroquai, please!! Canned Heat, Seven Days in Sunny June, Little L, Cosmic Girl, Love Foolosophy
Amazing song and such a curious video. Love it!
Jah-Meer-Oh-Qu-Eye. Impossible to mess up version. lol Or just Jay Kay for the singer. :p

Your reaction is first I like. When you stopped to enjoy the music... Yes
“Canned Heat” is another great one from them!
banger of a tune was HUGE in the U.K back in the day....
I loved watching your face during this one.
When I first heard this, I thought it was a new Stevie Wonder tune...try Cosmic Girl from him as well, 🔥.
Great Reaction, They were before and looking back in time as far as sound. Dig your reaction page. You should do some Fishbone!!
If you´re that into Jamiroquai you should def check the BRAND NEW HEAVIES. Another funky ass band from the same area. They are also from the UK.
Another awesome song by Jamiroquai is"Summer girl" bass line is🔥. Also cosmic girl "
Don't forget "Runaway"... 😊
I find that the song and the video are inseparable not a huge fan of the band but I celebrate them for this performance alone.
always loved this!!!
This video was as hot as the song when it first came out. I still love them both and I’m glad you do as well.
That bassplayer is sick!
Wil you have reacted to five Jamiroquai songs. But, you haven't reacted to their best R&B song that they made called Alright. The video and song of Alright is fire. You will def like it. It's up your alley.
If you like this try Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia) by US3, another forgotten acid jazz classic. Seriously, you'll love it!
It’s the message for me. Apropos during the pandemic lockdown frfr.
Aaaahhgh! You cut off the cool little fade and grin at the end!
😩😆

You need to watch the live video of them doing "Rappers Delight" or some others from that same concert in Tokyo. :)
Yoyoka does an amazing cover of this song on drums: it gives you a better idea how complicated and intricate the drumming is. Giver her a watch on this. Plus the rest of the band is top notch.
Cosmic Girl is my favorite song from them.
I knew you were going to dig this as soon as I saw the title.
Goddamn I miss the '90s.
Jamiroquaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii 💛💛💛💛💛
The moving floor wasn't actually moving at all. It was the whole room / camera on wheels. A bunch of people on all sides, pushing the walls where they were told to.
🤩🔥😍
♥︎◇Great Reaction, Sir◆♡
You have to listen to album version the bridge is amazing you would love it
I actually thought you were playing a jamiroquai song at the beginning :p you should also react to Cosmic Girl :))))
That was fun!
Love them
Try Love Foolosophy - live at Verona
V neck sweater-Greyboy allstars!!
You have to check out Yoyokas drum cover of this song! She is just AMAZING!
Little L should be your next one! 😍👏🏻👏🏻
To hear the lead singer's (Jay's) voice best, watch their Half the Man official video. It's stripped back but melodic, one complete take no editing and sooo incredible, funky, gorgeous. ruclips.net/video/GkL7cVqIZHU/видео.html
Gotta react to "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai!!
Jam Iroquai.
Love Jamiroquai!! Check out Canned Heat, Little L, Love Foolosophy 🎵🎶🔥🔥 These songs make me dance my ass off! 💯🤘
I’m amazed how many young reviewers imagine 1996 to be some kind of primitive time.
Dudes, c’mon.
😂
Still fresh
If you haven't heard Jamiroquai's "Canned Heat", give it a listen. It's as good as this song.
It's not the floor, but the walls that move. Iirc everything is in camera, except the bird. It's been a long time since I watched it, but here's the video of how they made that video: ruclips.net/video/MzwY7ii582Y/видео.html
If someone told me he was Stevie Wonder’s son, I’d absolutely believe them. Ive been a fan since the 90’s
Chod, please turn up your mic volume. It's so quiet compared to the song and your intro.
The lead singer definitely was weaned on Stevie Wonder. This song is still fresh!!
Stuart Zender rode his basslines like a boss sheikh on a camel. Like the rest of us K clef junkies, he was influenced by Bernard Wright.
Canned heat official music video
bro has the drumer physique
Love All Jamiroquai's Cuts but "Canned Heat" is my favorite... Would love to see if you agree!
Bro, watch Yoyoka's drum cover of this. I know you watched her before.
If you're putting this on your play list, be sure to get the long album version not official video version. Long version mucho better.
Just to keep it weird and diverse...maybe time for some Ween or Reverend Horton Heat? Beck? Smashing Pumpkins? Jane's Addiction?
way way before their time
This video fucked people up when it hit.
I was just all fucked up by an English dude named "Jason Quinn" that sounded like Stevie Wonder! 😎💯
But its just SOOOOO cool!
