@@classiarius Yeah, seat is a plank, trully KTM style :) But there is more than that: larger tank (13L is not that much), places to mount some softbags. GPS mount - I've seen that adding a gps mount to that bike is a pain (unless you put it on the handlebars which IMHO sucks) and last but not least - better lights, those that are originally on this bike are not the strong point. Thanks for the review! Mastering the throttle blip on downshifts is very important with that motor. The engine brake is awesome though. Good point about the lifting part. I've heard other reviewers say it was hard to lift but didn't know exactly why. Now it makes sense. I currently have an FZ/MT-07, but I'm considering getting one of these as my first adv bike. I used to dirt bike a lot when I was in high school, and I would like to get back into offroading again.
Being only a 10% off-roader, in order to downsize I sold my 2012 R1200GS for a 2020 Honda X-ADV. Because just like you, ....."I first choose a bike with my eyes" :) Besides good looks, I was mainly looking for practicality, comfort, automatic shifting, and some extra space under the seat, and ended up getting low fuel consumption, good power, and the capabilities of "3-bikes-in-1" as extras.
Did exactly the same and never regretted it. I don't miss the BMW GS, at least not off road where twice I had to call someone to help me. I only disagree with the ending of your video: I still find easier to lift the Yahmah despite doing it from a lower point compared to the GS. Interesting how I could compare myself to you: same choices for the same reasons.
When I saw the heading of your video I couldn’t see the point, but after watching your review it made perfect sense, and I couldn’t stop watching, too entertaining. Great review and thanks for using English which most of us understand even though it’s not most of our first language. Where I’m from the big GS is still the daddy due to rain being an occasion to celebrate and comfort and safety being paramount, but a bike like the Tenere also makes a perfect second bike for all the good reasons you’ve mentioned. I’m actually looking at something even lighter but yet still able to cover reasonable distance and have the new 390 adventure down as a maybe. I switch bikes a little too often according to my wife, and I’m judgmental on every bike because I like to learn from my own mistakes and enjoy the process of making them, generally as far as bike ownership goes anyway, while not only finding my perfect bike combination but also what I actually like doing most with my bikes.
Gerhard Combrink thanks for the kind words! Over herr we ”celebrate” a lot by your standards 😂 I can only have one bike atm and I think the T7 covers all bases pretty well. My friends have ktm and bmw so we will make a comparison 👍🏻
Very good review Nomad Sweden, and good video. See we drive in much of the same landscape. I am considering switching my trusty XT660R to a T7, will probably do it next summer. Did also subscribe to your channel. Drive safe!
I was really looking at it, coming from a 1200 GSA too, until I saw the Husqvarna 901 Norden concept bike, I will wait a little bit more. As you mentioned the wheels, are they really tubeless? I loved the T7 exactly for the same reasons as you, except I didn’t buy it yet. Winter is coming, let’s see next spring. Have fun anyway
It’s very nice to see this comparison video. I like the idea of dowsizing. You did good, save money, have more fun... more minimalistic approach which I like. :)
Enjoyable review.. Having ridden a BMW1200gs and owning a Yamaha xt660r, for me I think the T7 is somewhat of a unicorn, ie much lighter than a 1200 and not being a single like the xt660. I'm sure the claimed 72hp would be more than enough too.
this is a real amusing if not funny review. i really like it so much i had to rewatch it a few times. the subtle kind of humour and the good sense of criticizsm is absolutely my cup of tea. the "tom hanks"-like personality asks for more entertainment in the future: do not make me wait too long..!
@@NomadSweden i definitely will. just recently purchased a T7 myself which needs some minor things to be changed. i bought it unseen like you and also have a 1200 gs besides. i absolutely share your experiences and can sign your comments 100%. the way you are performing - on the bike and as a journalist - not taking yourself too seriously is brilliant. my compliments again.
Absolutely Loved the mud splash graphics and stone cold delivery of the ever classic "Faster Red One", and Amazing HP gains from applied stickers. Thumbs up earned for a chuckle there all by itself. Bikes; Apples and Oranges, really. Obviously for a close comparison, it would be the Tenere 700 vs the Africa Twin or the smaller KTMs. As you already know, much in life is like Tires. To shine in one category, you give up something in the other(s). However, great video and thank you for posting.
Thanks for the video! Your entertaining way of presenting keeps me coming back for more! Sold my 1250GS and picking up a T7 Rally in the faster Red color in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to the simplicity of the bike. And since it costs less than half of the GS I'll take the T7 places I probably wouldn't take the GS based on the cost of replacing broken parts. My only problem is I live in a country that has made off-road riding illegal. So I'll have to travel outside of Germany to really enjoy this bike 🤔
Great comparison. I'm not really in the market for either bike but still greatly enjoyed the video. I hope there is a Tenere 300 or 400 soon, as rumored.
Streamlined Teutonic style, I own an Africa Twin AS but I keep thinking about this bike. You guys must have so much fun in the open forests and lands of Scandinavia. Here in England there are very few green lanes so you gotta go to Wales, Scotland or France to ride open range. The AT is great, gotta try one of those. Great vid, refreshing.
Thanks! Yes Sweden is blessed in that way. 70% of entire country is forest and lots of service roads bad enough to be fun. Camp almost anywhere. Welcome over :)
What a joke at the beginning! Superb! Besides that very interesting and valuable review. 2 ADV bikes that are almost maximum opposite to each other. Simplicity affordable light weight agains big heavy expencive ADV flaghship. I started as well being BMW fan until I realized that there's no point in buing big & heavy expensive toys rather than saving extra money (price & operation of the bike) which could be better spent doing ADV trips. Thanks again for valuable info and safe riding.
Thank you... (and for speaking English too). If we are fortunate enough to have a garage then there is often a case for having two m’bikes: one for longer faster roads taking a pillion and another for those little adventures and practical journeys. If you can only have one bike I think you are wise to have a mid range bike like the Tenere. Although if you are concerned about aesthetics then a smaller Bonneville might fit the bill. I know what you mean about luggage. It’s better to reduce what we carry and not have so much. If we want to go further we can always travel somewhere and hire a bike suitable for our travels. Maybe I’ll do that in Scandinavia someday...

@@NomadSweden I'm coming to Sweden, and hope you will step up with bike and play the loosing driver :-P So we can shine a little bit extra :-D
@@tshansen Oh! Then the Ardbeg is on me! I'd love to play the looser if I can write the disclaimer text.
@@NomadSweden You can't write anything. I feel that is a trap in every possible way :-P Would be really nice to meet up, make a little "friendly" showdown between NO and SE... :-P When you spin around in the dirt, looks like Chris Birch :-D
Great video. Hello from Scotland. 🏴
good morning from Italy !!!! I'm about to do the same thing too !! From GS 1200 to Yamaha T7 ...... I've been thinking about it for a while, then seeing your videos, I'm convinced !!!! (almost ....) Keep it up, it's a pleasure to see them !!!!!!
Just found you channel...brilliant, now I’m a subscriber! keep up the good work.
Green String thank you!
What a nice review, you speak so calm and your English is better to understand than most other American Bikers, I really enjoy it.
Thanks!
You give perfect advice, thank you.
Greetings from Bulgaria and cheers!
Cheers 🍻
Did exactly the same and never regretted it. I don't miss the BMW GS, at least not off road where twice I had to call someone to help me. I only disagree with the ending of your video: I still find easier to lift the Yahmah despite doing it from a lower point compared to the GS. Interesting how I could compare myself to you: same choices for the same reasons.
Great 😊
thank you very good presentation, simplicity, light luggage we have the right bike.
LOL, itchy boots morning report.... love it.
Tenere: the best one. We wait for her in Brazil.
"It likes going for a Sunday walk in the forest..." as a description of a tyre is priceless!
Excellent Comparison. Thanks for sharing your opinions.
Very good review Nomad Sweden, and good video. See we drive in much of the same landscape. I am considering switching my trusty XT660R to a T7, will probably do it next summer. Did also subscribe to your channel. Drive safe!
My God, the intro😂 rest was not worst at all 👍👍👍
very nice review.
was on the GS before
but guess Tenere is better
for me here in Japan.
great video !!!
Nice review. I have ordered the T7 and cant wait to get hold of it.
Looking forward for the adventure videos.
How is your t7 so far ?
@@paoloc3318 100 % satisfied. Done 26000 km
Nice sense of humor :) Made me smile/laugh a few times. Thumbs up:)
MrPaulo1400 thanks! Yeah the Norden looks cool. The T7 comes with tubes.
Thanks great review, Perfect motorcycle, tenere. 👍🏼
Thanks for ur review!!!! Love love the dry humor! :) still considering the T7 as my first adv bike
Thank you 🙏
It’s very nice to see this comparison video. I like the idea of dowsizing. You did good, save money, have more fun... more minimalistic approach which I like. :)
Great review! Eep the advriding videos coming! 👌🏻💪🏻
Great review!! My deposit is done for a brand New T7 here in Québec Canada!!! Can’t wait to ride that beauty!!!
No way is it faster than the Ceramic Ice ! Great review. Subscribed. I have a couple of Tenere vids on my channel :)
funguseater40 thanks! Yor island has some nice green laning. Would love to try them some time!
this is a real amusing if not funny review. i really like it so much i had to rewatch it a few times. the subtle kind of humour and the good sense of criticizsm is absolutely my cup of tea. the "tom hanks"-like personality asks for more entertainment in the future: do not make me wait too long..!
Wolfram Ettgen wow, t.hanks a lot 😉 I am planning more so hang in there 👍🏻
@@NomadSweden i definitely will. just recently purchased a T7 myself which needs some minor things to be changed. i bought it unseen like you and also have a 1200 gs besides. i absolutely share your experiences and can sign your comments 100%. the way you are performing - on the bike and as a journalist - not taking yourself too seriously is brilliant. my compliments again.
Also love the Teneré...even if I consider the BMW at another level. Cheers from 🇵🇹✌️
Well they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... another great video. Many thanks
Great review!
Great review...just subscribed and looking forward to the next adventure on the Tenere! Cheers, Steve
Thanks Steve!
Loved it ! Simple, efficient, funny, Swedish 😜 subscribed 👍✌
Thanks :) Indeed the T7 makes things more fun also because of economy
Great comparison. I'm not really in the market for either bike but still greatly enjoyed the video. I hope there is a Tenere 300 or 400 soon, as rumored.
Yeah a smaller one would be fun
Nice review.
Thank you for sharing your insight.
I also put a bag on my pillion seat all the time (on my previous bike)... I got one from Held (vivione), which is quite nice.. would recommend it.
Congrats on the new ride. Looks sweet!
I'm glad you didn't put your palm into the camera after that intro. 😂
I'm in the same boat. My GSA will be moved to full time sport tourer duty when I can get my hands on a Tenere.
A.k.a Itchy boots - 11.xx in the morning! LOL! Subscribed and belled! ;-)
Thanks 😊
LMAO with your opening parody
