  • I've been meaning to get around to this video for a few months, basically a walk through of my new custom build 308 Winchester bolt action rifle.
    It's not a review at all, just the parts and reasons why for a few common questions that seem to arise.

    Stateside fan of the channel here. Very neatly made rifle for .308, quite nice compared to off the shelf options available for the application, I WILL say that! - I'm curious about semi auto licensing in NSW/AU.. Wasn't too sure if Aussies were even allowed them, licensing or not. But absolutely nothing wrong with bolt action in fact a lot of shooters in my region go after our feral pig problem with bolt action rifles if for no other reason they're just easier to maintain.. and a LOT cheaper to run. It's not all AR style rifles as popular lore would suggest 😂

    Had the same problem with PPU 308win brass a few years ago. Bought some once fired at a gun show and they wouldn't extract after firing even with very mild loads in my Browning BLR. Apparently the problem is soft brass allowing the brass to expand but not shrink back like normal brass does immediately after firing. Have even come across loaded factory PPU rounds that do the same. Bin job.

    • @williammaw7396

      Something I've found with PPU brass is that the inside of the recess where the extractor will grab it that its a more radiused edge than the likes of federal, hornady ect. and find my remington 700 jumps over and gets stuck. No dramas at all with my tikka or old mauser 98 bolt action and no issues in several lever actions. Very subtle difference but it's the only variable I could find opposed to FLS, trimmed and chamfered brass of several brands

    Curious as to what your subsonic load data is? I know it's a Hornady Subx 190 projectile but what powder and how much? How much drop are you seeing past 100 meters?

    • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
      @EDGEoftheOUTBACK  7 месяцев назад +2

      I run trailboss powder, sorry I don't share specific load data. They shoot like a banana is the short answer 😁

    Do your scopes hold zero when swapping them for day and night?
    Just bought a thermal but due to its height the rifle won’t fit into the gun safe when fitted.

    i struggle upstand the reason for the no semi auto in your line of trade its blatantly obvious that you are in pest destruction and they still restrict you .
    what type of person can get a semi in NSW ?
    no one needs one other that pest destruction.
    Crims?
    this is where we have gone a bit mad here i feel.

      Thanks mate, I can't change the laws, Owning a semi auto in Australia is a hugely restricted thing. Even as a professional pest controller the hoops to jump through are immense.

    lovely kit, and what I have seen you do with it it seems to be just the job, that said, if your gov sorts out the BS, and semi auto becomes an option , you know as well as I do the benefits of not taking your eye off the game and send them continuous rounds down range, one drawback or is it two? Is your going to need two extra item's, one of which is a face covering to stop the bugs getting in your teeth while your smiling, and a larger bank account for the extra ammo, lol
