- Here is a scene from the 1935 Russian film "Подруги" with a performance of the traditional revolutionary song "Slavery and Suffering."
We can hear one unknown oktavist among the singers, especially after 2:00, where he descends to F#1. Thanks to one of my subscribers for making me aware of this!

As all Russians will realise this tune was incorporated into the Dimitri Shostakovich Quartet no.8, it enters at 15mins on the youtube Borodin footage after a single extended note and everything falls quiet for 'Zamuchen tyazheloy nevoley' (phonetic). The piece was played to Shostakovich at his home by the Borodins and left him deeply affected, Dmitri wrote this in memoriam of the loss of a dear friend; they left quietly. Few ppl in English mention this, yet it is the key to understanding an incredible composition.

How tragic to think of the pain and misery that the people of Russia experienced during that time. 2:00-2:16 gives me immense chills.

А на 2:05 нет октависта.. если этот актер крупный - это ничего не значит.

Октавистом может быть мужчина справа, на 3:06. На мой взгляд, его слово "дорога" звучит в контроктаве, причем без напряжения.
Октавист не этот мужчина на 3:05.
Никита, посмотрите фильм целиком и вы увидите октависта в одной из сцен, он прямо таки солирует там.
Если бы "дорога" произнес октавист из этого фильма, то сомнений бы не было совсем.
Впечатляет, как звучит низкий баритоновый вокал.
