That’s awesome man! Congrats. Many people don’t realize that getting the watch serviced is essentially like getting a new watch! It’s well worth it if your watch isn’t keeping good time or simply it looks like it’s been in the ground for years. 😉👍

That did come back like a new watch, and just out of interest, did they contact you about the crystal replacement? I got mine back after a service and battery replacement, with new seals, and that cost me about £155, but they polished the bracelet, and the side I wasn't fully happy with, was that the brushed centre links are now all polished... well it's not bad, but isn't how it was originally, but kept quiet as I don't really wear it that much. I really like what they've done to yours, and that bezel looks new! It does cost, but that will keep you going for another 20yrs almost, and the fact you like the watch... my opinion, Breitling are a very cool watch, and gets much more respect than many other Swiss brands, and those who know watches and see you have a Breitling, they know you're a watch guy knowing your stuff... I don't see rappers hitting on Breitling LML :-P Brilliant show my friend, really good and informative! Have just serviced that thumbs up button for you with No.29 :))

Great video! Showing the costs is helpful for everyone who is buying an expensive watch. Some people sometimes forget it. What I did not understand is, why the minute bezel lines are completely polished and only the numbers are black coloured. Before they seemed to be black coloured too. Anyway, congrats for a new watch!! For polishing of small inperfections I use Cape Cod (it works). But I believe you know this tool.
I have the same watch exactly. The coating on my glass is pretty much perfect and I did do one thing that I personally like and benefit from…and that is..I placed a Rolex style 2.5 cyclops over the date…and I think it looks great! Effectively it is a Day/Date already ( just like Rolex / Rolex President)..and it is really functional for me personally. I wouldn’t see the date at all otherwise and now it’s perfect and really suits the watch…clearly my opinion mainly..but have had number of compliments as it just really looks natural on there. ( by the way, total price: eBay..cyclops $18.00…special cyclops epoxy..$7.00..also on eBay. Local jeweler who works on high end watches put it on for me while I waited…$25). The one other thing though I was going to say is that I just don’t recall The Headwind having the bright, chrome-like finish on it. Mine is in great shape, but does have the standard brushed finish, which I thought was the only option. Finally, I know that the movement is an ETA 2834-2..with a day module…so in that sense, could not anyone servicing ETA movements have done the service?…polish and new glass notwithstanding?
They replaced the crown. That is specified as “crown steel polished”. As it is a polished crown. The polish is part of the service and not specified separately.
They really did an amazing job! This watch looks brand new! Probably better than the day you got it! Amazing! Congrats on the new Breitling! 😄😉 Very informative to see the break down of cost as well, thanks for sharing those details!
Hey do u have a option on what gets done ? I have the same issue with the bad AR on my xstal ..so i just removed the remaining AR with a cape cod cloth .. been searching for a OEM xstal to buy but very difficult.. the watch was serviced when i purchased it a yr ago .. so can i just opt out of the service and just do the polishing and AR? nice video and very informative 👍
Because they have to disassemble the watch to polish, they do charge for a maintenance fee. The service would run you anywhere from 230-370 according to a Breitling spokesman I spoke to today.
Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf stainless steel, cobra yellow dial on a yellow Prodiver III strap and an Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf Night Mission Black DLC coated titanium, black face and on a black Prodiver III strap. They're new and I love them, but you just cannot beat old school classics like your one.
I sent mine in also, a few years back. It was over $600 them. It doesn't take long for the watch to look used. Mine is an everyday 24/7/365. Self winder is not as accurate as my Colt battery. Big difference in cost and not as accurate? Thats the price for owning a fine watch.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience. One thing that brought to my attention is that in the before picture the bezel has black marks on the scale just like in each quarter of hours and in the after it seems they removed the black color. Do you know why? Is it something they did with your consent?
Great video and 100% difference. Your very hard on watches already scratching it up😅 They replace mainspring and hairspring when doing full service as well. Worth the money you paid.
Hello I had question about pre-Owned watch which come with Warranty from Authorized Dealer but the owner of original watch already changed due to second handed market. Will Breitling still support Servicing Watch ? Or Servicing must be original owner only ?
Maintenance servicing is out of pocket, so it doesn’t matter. If you have a warranty claim because the watch has an issue under warranty, that’s another issue altogether. If you have the original receipt that matches the serial number and the watch is still under warranty, it would be valid in my eyes. There would need to be proof that the watch was purchased from an authorized Breitling dealer. So if they had the ability to look up serial number even, you may be good.
Nice video buddy you look like a good dude ,I love Brietling watches I have 3 so far a super avenger 2 48mm / navitimer 46mm bo1 movement exhibition back and a bentley motors special edition model
Dont know if anyone told you but the "steel crown polishing" is not the polishing of your case its the actual crown man. They replace crown with service when they are due or when the treads are worn. The case polishing is just a part of the charge on the complete overhaul lol. Cheers
Thanks for the information. I didn’t know that. When I read this I contacted Breitling and they confirmed what you said. Admitted it isn’t proper English on the receipt 😂
My girlfriend has a Rolex and I have a breitling colt auto. My watch loses 5 mins a month. I'm pretty pissed a watch that cost this much money needs hundreds of pounds of work to keep right. My watch was £1500 second hand and my girlfriends was £2599 from a jeweler. I just think these watches are made to sell to people with money to burn and are a status symbol. In my youth I wore a Casio and it was never a issue. I'm beginning to think these luxury brands are a scam and only here to take my money. Any thoughts????
I don’t agree on the scam aspect. It’s no secret a 10.00 Casio F91W will be more accurate than my COSC certified fully serviced Breitling. If accuracy is what you’re looking for, luxury automatics are not for you. Now my COSC certified Breitling will be -4 to +6 seconds a day. With Luxury watches you’re paying for experienced Swiss watchmakers, finest materials, decorated movements, precious metals, exclusivity, reliability, durability, etc.
Awesome video Joe. The watch looks great! Thanks for sharing your experience. The cost of getting a watch serviced is something that’s easy to overlook when planning a watch purchase. I know I don’t think about it enough. I suppose it’s just like with a car or any other mechanical thing we have. If there are moving parts then it’s going to need some maintenance now and then.
Hi, I have a Blackbird (the one you reviewed some time ago). The bezel is quite loose and very easy to turn. I bought it a couple of months ago and then the bezel turn felt good.. I wonder why it is feels like this after such a short time. Do you have any tips/tricks? Thanks so much in advance and greetings from Amsterdam!
Thanks for your support bud and I’d be happy to help you. I released a video on how to take off the bezel to clean it. I’ll post the link below. The watch is old and dirt finds it’s way in there somehow. Luckily these bezels are pretty simple to remove and clean.
I’m hoping to buy an used aerospace by the looks of it the watch could do with a polish but you can only book a polish on top of a service!!! I may take it elsewhere.
A proper polishing requires breaking the entire watch down. If you’re doing that, might as well service it. They won’t do an “amateur” polishing but some of us want that. I’d recommend going somewhere where they will polish the watch intact. Nothing wrong with that. Just personal preference.
Attempting to brush dial with something abrasive and overlapping the crystal by accident. Once you remove even a small section, it becomes obvious and therefore I removed the rest.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Hmmm... so the cost of having it serviced twice almost equals the price of the watch. It probably only makes sense to do it once and then buy another model. They did a good job though.
So, for ~834.22 $ you've got a brand new watch, that is actually the old one restored. Lets say 20 years without servicing (excluding leap years) = ~7300 days. ~834.22 $ divided by ~7300 = ~0,114 $ per day of usage. Not bad at all.
This is why I am choosing good local watchmakers. It’s an outrage that Breitling has the nerve to charge 500 USD for a service of a very common ETA movement
The 72$ was for a new crown not the polishing. The polishing is part of the service at 490$ Your old crown probably had bad thread and they simply replaced it
Nice watch but you can buy an Orient with a very similar look for $200, I checked its accuracy against not one but two radio controlled clocks, its losing 5secs per day, Im happy with that, its pretty good for a mechanical watch.
No doubt. I have a few of those as well. 😂 I can’t justify having a Breitling to most people but for the few of us; we totally understand the draw. I love Orient and it’ll keep just as accurate time for sure and they make awesome watches. Thanks for watching!
The fact that you seem unconcerned about the timekeeping after the service, and are just grateful that it's a big improvement on the previous 5 minutes a week, tells me I'm watching the wrong channel.
I have a 10yr old blackbird and I'm afraid to send it to them based on all the negative reviews of poor customer service online complants ...how can this be of such a company???

Thank you sir. So true.

Looks amazing Joe!👏🏻 For your watch I hope it was worth the money. You got a full new watch!👍🏻😍
Definitely worth it to me. Thank you.
Great video and also useful!
Happy you enjoyed and found value.
Thank you!
What year was this watch manufactured?
As stated in the video, 2003. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the review
Thanks for watching!
How many years did you wear the watch before servicing your Breitling?
I owned the watch for 2. Bought it off of eBay. Have to assume this thing has never been serviced. But I don’t know for sure.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I have a Chronomat 44 that's just great. Really love the Breitling brand. Thinking of buying a Avenger Seawolf Night mission.
@@alfredrahman they’re awesome watches. I had two and now down to one. Would totally buy another. I like the Avenger a lot.
Cheers…..I now know my watch was made in wk 16 2002 Cool.
😎 cheers 🍻
How did you end up reming the AR ?
Attempting to brush dial with something abrasive and overlapping the crystal by accident. Once you remove even a small section, it becomes obvious and therefore I removed the rest.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews man that was so unfortunate. Great video btw. What a gem.
@@TS-ih1zg thank you. Appreciate that. Was unfortunate but it worked out in the end.
How much did you purchase it for if you don’t mind me asking
1600 on eBay
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Hmmm... so the cost of having it serviced twice almost equals the price of the watch. It probably only makes sense to do it once and then buy another model. They did a good job though.
@@baze3SC first and only time I’ll probably get it done, yes.
Wow great watch. Could you tell me the exact model number?
A45355
So, for ~834.22 $ you've got a brand new watch, that is actually the old one restored. Lets say 20 years without servicing (excluding leap years) = ~7300 days. ~834.22 $ divided by ~7300 = ~0,114 $ per day of usage. Not bad at all.
When you put it that way… wow… what’s a deal! Thanks for sharing.
This is why I am choosing good local watchmakers. It’s an outrage that Breitling has the nerve to charge 500 USD for a service of a very common ETA movement
Great job!
The 72$ was for a new crown not the polishing.
The polishing is part of the service at 490$
Your old crown probably had bad thread and they simply replaced it
Thanks man!
What Model watch is that ?
Breitling Headwind from early 2000’s
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews thanks
@@Bornindafire my pleasure. It model number A45355
Very nice!
Its beautiful
And badass at the same time
👍👍👍
👊👊👊
I learned collecting watches is too expensive for me.
It’s as expensive as you choose. You can collect 10.00 watches and have a pretty decent collection of Casios. It all depends on taste my friend.
Slap my arse and call me Susan !They did an amazing job.
Thanks so much Susan!
The fact that you seem unconcerned about the timekeeping after the service, and are just grateful that it's a big improvement on the previous 5 minutes a week, tells me I'm watching the wrong channel.
if you buy fake same watch it will last years
nothing learned
Great video - super informative. And DANG that watch looks great! Excellent results... Now I need to see your 'Wont Service My Watch' vid :)
Thanks so much Norm! Appreciate the support.
I have a 10yr old blackbird and I'm afraid to send it to them based on all the negative reviews of poor customer service online complants ...how can this be of such a company???
I’ve had a good experience and currently have my Navitimer in for work. So, despite the complaints, I’ve had good service so far.
Bc you’re not a RUclipsr, you’re not a threat lol
