I recently lost my GSP of 13 years. The house isn’t the same so I will be getting another GSP pup tomorrow so here I am watching this video. They really are the best dogs if you can dedicate the time and energy into your dog.
I’ve brought my puppy home 4 days ago and honestly my puppy blues are strong. I’m doing everything I can and I’m struggling with him 😢 I hope this video helps.
Thank you! Great video with some really great tips. I really appreciate the suggestion to put toys away and the need for them to sit and relax before playtime, feeding, or any other thing of value as it, like you said, puts the owner as the source of those wonderful things reinforcing the dog to see the handler as the pack leader. Another great mention at the beginning when you said some things are subjective, we all can’t be militant about the same things. I’ve heard it said before, “ The only 1 thing 2 dog trainers will agree on is what the 3rd is doing wrong”. The key to success, I think, and just as you mentioned is that consistency + repetition = discipline. Keep it up sir. I hope all that watch this see the value I did. Happy training!
@Tim Wright absolutely incredible. He is everything you would expect from a GSP, loving, nutty, energetic, cuddly, literally a text book example of the breed and I couldn't be happier. I was walking with my 8 year old daughter on the weekend and we were discussing if she could remember life before and she said it felt like he had always been part of the family
Love this video! I have a question on the toilet training, I like the every hour idea but how about when you’re at work for 8 hours a day? How do they generally do during that while still being house broken? Thank you!
Hey Drew, thanks for watching! We have actually started doing Q&A lives over on our instagram. Check out Fenrir Canine Leaders on Instagram and feel free to send us our questions so we can help more people when answering them live 😊
Hi Fenrir, I enjoyed this . Any tips for me? Adopted a 5 month old GSP without any training. I have a plan I’ve used for 4 other bird dogs all came home 7 or 8 weeks. Sure would appreciate your help.
Hi Sara, thanks for watching! Given the age of your dog we'd recommend out Perfect Canine Companion Boot Camp course, it covers everything you'll need to know to help with your new addition! You can find out more details on our website: www.fenrircanineleaders.com
Hey, thanks for watching! We'd recommend to remove access to their water about an hour before bedtime then let them out for the toilet just before you put them to bed. Then first thing in the morning let them out and give them back their water. This should help with getting them through the night with minimal accidents or wake ups.
Reliable and trusted breeder. Can be tough to find depending where you live, but find breeders that have health studies done on genetic diseases with paperwork and ones with testimonies etc. I’ve found the best way is when you see a beautiful gsp in public ask the owner where they got the dog. I’ve found all my dogs breeders that way and they tend to be the best, but still research that breeder.
I just had to have my GSP euthanized. That was a very tough day in my life. I’m still not over it. I cannot wait to get another GSP. They are a fantastic breed.
I lost my dog. It was a mixed breed, beautiful brindle breed with orange eyes very athletic dog. He loved to swim run! and he was also very affectionate and love to be around people. I just am so sad without him. He was always with me every day every night where I went Jocko went. I miss him so much he passed away August 3, 2024 and the day before he passed away there was a giant rainbow in the sky in the middle of summer in California and it never rains in the summer, but that rainbow was there. I really believe that he is in heaven now with God.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know the heartache and pain you’ve gone through but just know that they are in a beautiful place now over the rainbow bridge waiting for us.
My day with a 3 months old gsp: Wake up at 5:45 , take him in bed. Get biting and attacked when I say no Put my shoes on (20 minuts biting ankle, hands and shoes) Prepare myself in the bathroom , he start crying like crazy because he is alone Go for a walk , he pull , jump , jump on everything and take every piece of trash he see Come home and feed him , jump 58 times at the table for my food And almost talk to me when I say no. He give up offcourse. Than bench training. , crying like crazy. Separation anxiety 100% I go to work and don’t give a fuck He sleep because I record when not home I come home and start biting till it bleeds , sleep , bite , sleep , bite Than I go for a walk at noon , feed him I go to work again. Evening I come home and he bite again. I don’t want to go home but I have him now Jumping on me when I eat, barking when I don’t look at him , crying in the bench when I cook , I go shower and he cry more that the neighbors complain

I have recently adopted a 16mth gwp, she has no training. Is your course suitable for this age? She's so smart, I want her to be the best.

Question? How about night time ? Do you want us to take them out every hour even in the middle of the night?

Do you wait for them to pee or poo before bringing them back in? What if they dont go, do you wait?
Where does one buy ?
