Introducing Habitat for Humanity's Home Equals global advocacy campaign

The more than 1 billion people around the world living in slums and other informal settlements are not treated as equals. They are often denied property rights, lack access to basic services such as clean water and are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
Informal settlements also are bustling communities, where innovation and entrepreneurship thrive. But governments must listen to residents and turn their ideas into action.
Through Home Equals, Habitat for Humanity's five-year global advocacy campaign, we will collaborate with partners, governments and communities to shape policies and level the playing field so that people living in informal settlements have a safe and secure place to call home.
