Hello! I’m sure your an expert and I really wouldn’t want to judge your facts but I have to ask, are your sure the tocado goes on the right if you single? I’ve just heard many other dancers say that if your single it goes on the left.
Hi! Sorry for the delay I was doing some deeper research into this and here’s what I gathered: According to wedding protocol, headpieces are placed on the right side of the head because our partners normally stand on our left side thus preventing vision interference for our partners. Therefore, for performances it makes more sense to place tocados on the right side depending on the choreography and of course the artistic director’s final say. BUT, headpieces can also be placed on the left depending on the region and can also signify being a “señorita” (Miss). I hope this helps clarify things! ❤️🔥 Attached are my sources. cuquicute.com/donde-se-lleva-el-tocado/ www.primeriti.es/blog/lo-ultimo/protocolo-de-pamelas-y-tocados/ revista.escaner.cl/node/7985 www.sinembargo.mx/16-02-2020/3728105
This is highly underrated! Ive been in folklorico for about 4 years or more now, And im getting more into my culture lately, thank you for this video I never knew some of these things!
You’re welcome! I’m so happy this helped you! When I was first starting out I wish someone told me these things which is why I made this channel! To help people like you out!
Thank you so much! This video was super helpful because I’m planning my quinceañera and I want to do ballet folkorico but I don’t really know much about it so I’m teaching myself and your videos are like my safe haven! ❤️❤️❤️
The hair has to be in a base bun due to multiple headpiece changes during a performance. The base bun is what holds the headpieces in place. As for the style of bun, that depends on the group. The purpose of Folklórico makeup or stage makeup really, is to enhance the performers facial features for audience members who are sitting far away. As for style, this also depends on the group.
I love your videos and can’t wait for more. I have one suggestion. When doing things that make noise like tapping, I suggest in the editor to lower the volume of that so we can hear what you are saying. I have no idea what you said during that part.
i love you video ! just a small comment, for the tocados it’s the opposite. usually it’s the left that signifies that they girls are single and right that they are married. there are some exceptions for example in Campeche it’s right if your single. that’s what i’ve learn from a couple of maestros. :)
Thank you for sharing this information! I tend to mix the two sides and when I asked my dance mentor that is what she told me. I will look into this more!

Do you have any info on why the hair styles and makeup have to be a certain way?

Folklorista's Corner I’m re-reading my comment and sorry for the grammar mistakes ! :,)
@@juannantonio Lol, no worries. I understood what you meant. :)
Oh no. All of my group wears ours on the right thinking the same as Carmen. And I know none of us are married we are all under 18.
@@lizzysuber I will make an update on what I find on this topic!
