  • Stephania erecta is native to Thailand where it is found in thickets or forests with sparse vegetation. It sprouts from its caudex, which resembles a potato bulb. The plant produces vines that are very thin and delicate with deep green disc-shaped leaves. The effect is dramatic and adds to the plant’s appeal. This plant is also used for medicinal purposes.

I've heard if you place them in a plastic bag or a plastic box with a top the humidity will help them grow faster.

@@countrygirl4422 I stayed in Malaysia so I don’t need the extra humidity 😊 I placed them near my bedroom window ( east facing) and the bright indirect light encourages their growth. I watered them thoroughly once a week. The tubers also do extremely well in a mixture of fine pumice, lava rock and zeolite. This mixture is called rainbow rocks in Malaysia and is sold for cactus and succulents. No need soil ; and no danger of root rot 😊

Hi there, I planted mine recently in soil, two days ago. Should I move it to a more chunkier soil? Perlite and orchid bark? Appreciated!@@CoFFee123..

@@CoFFee123.. I am in Malaysia too. Do you do top watering or let it soak up?

@@rachelchong1529 I placed a small tray under the pot and watered from the top until water flows out and collect on the tray. Unfortunately I didn’t like the plant anymore and it died from neglect… the pumice was stone dry for long periods until the bulb became wrinkled and died.
