I don't get why people are arguing over his voice. I think Dave's one of my favorite singers of all time! It's a really catchy song, I've had it stuck in my head for four days now and I want to learn it on guitar.
It's insane that he can play that riff and sing over it like that. But props to the drummer for being able to slam the drums like that and give backup vocals that are that flawless, even when going into falsetto. So good!
I remember in the mid nineties when he was still a nobody and he was playing little gigs at the malls in the Richmond Virginia area. Little did anyone know that later that year he would be a super star filling up the biggest of arenas. I knew when I heard him playing solo and acoustic that he was gonna be big
I was driving around little five points in Atlanta back in 2010. I look over and I see Boyd tinsley standing on the sidewalk. He had one other guy with him and that was it. I almost wrecked as I pulled the car over on the next street to get out and go see him. I got my picture and they played Lakewood later that night, I’ll never forget it.
a Gibson Chet Atkins SST Studio they aren't in production anymore though, but Epiphone makes a cheaper version of it. Dave's SST is also modified with Fishman pickups :)
Was at a DMB concert early 2000s just as they were launching into this song a satellite arced overhead in the sky - no kidding! My only comment to my companion - before the music even began - 'They're gonna play Satellite'' DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE, eh?
I told your mom that, once... Now we both have graduated 2nd grade! Please don't disrespect others opinions, especially critiques of singers, on RUclips. Peace, Joe Nelson.
@youmakemelaff Practice tip: watch your favorite tv shows and keep playing the riff in the meantime... depending on guitar level you should be able to sing to it after a couple of days. ;) but yeah, it's hard
"Too underated?" I wholeheartedly disagree. In fact, Dave is so well supported by fans--his army of jackboot thugs--that anyone who expresses reservations about his 'messiah status' in popular culture is shouted down. I fully understand why people hate on this band.
@youmakemelaff its actually really really easier, i thought it was gonna be a pain when i started but its not so bad. the chorus is a harder in my opinion. its just very tiring to play
Everybody hold up! We don't need to be getting so hostile? Don't believe me? Go pick up the issue of Rolling Stone magazine after DMB put out American Baby, Dave said that's 1 of his least favorite things & that's something he wishes he could change about this world? All the hostility?
THIS SONG IS THE BEST! it just reminds me of all the happy times.
thumbs up it the same for you

Limited range. Great song.
absolutely love this song. it sounds straight out of a dream. how in the WORLD is Dave playing that song?!!
love it, that song is musically incredible
Lovely melody.
This band is too underated. I don't understand why people hate on this band.
I think part of it might be Dave’s political position? Idk though
modern day bach. i love love love this song and this band. thank you for the joy you bring with your music
Whoa, I like DMB, but please name a single beyond Satellite and Crash that I ought to listen to?
@@herbertrichard614 Don't Drink the Water is good, has a kind of heavier sound. also What would you Say

It's amazing we get this.. so be happy...
Is there anything more attractive than a talented singer in his own little world ? ❤
great now and great back then...just an awesome band
The part when I begins singing always gave me goose bumps.
Playing this riff for nearly 5 minutes while singing must be incredibly stressful
prolly their best concert ever right next to live at red rocks back in '95!
Carter's on it!!!
2001 saw him at amphitheater in Nashville and started raining during this song!! Amazing
just amazing song
a Gibson Chet Atkins SST Studio
they aren't in production anymore though, but Epiphone makes a cheaper version of it.
Dave's SST is also modified with Fishman pickups :)
Jeg elsker denne sang.. Nyder den

Good bands. R.E.M., DMB, Luna, Matthew Sweet, Connells, Sugar, Ride!
I only 16 and I have been a fan since 2003.
wow it is so old!!!
I hope I was conceived to this song.
Was at a DMB concert early 2000s just as they were launching into this song a satellite arced overhead in the sky - no kidding! My only comment to my companion - before the music even began - 'They're gonna play Satellite''
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE, eh?
I just tried this on guitar. Dave is a legend yes, I couldnt even make 4 lines before fucking it up
If you don't like his voice then why would you listen to ANYTHING by him...his voice makees the song
AlPal 🗣🗣right💁
"Winter's cold, spring erases, and the calm away by the storm is chasing..."
Dave Matthew is just awesome that's all.
Lovee him
The best DMB song. Crash is right there. Why didn't Dave right more pop gems. His trip-hop approach was crowd pleasing but crowds don't know.
hell yeah
Their music doesn't do much for me, but I still very much appreciate that they are excellent and talented musicians.
this song sings to my midwest emo loving ass heart.
This is just good music.

LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!
Ive come to the conclusion that old dave is the best dave
Old dave was new dave at that time
3:40- 3:43, carter goes ape shit
Joey Crochet he's one hell of a drummer
Beauford is a god
@hupbla87 are you positive about the pick ups? cause ive been looking into doing that to my SST and if thats what it will sound like then im doing it.
@youmakemelaff Practice tip: watch your favorite tv shows and keep playing the riff in the meantime... depending on guitar level you should be able to sing to it after a couple of days. ;) but yeah, it's hard
Agreed! What's his problem?
@Dnt132 Same here

Playing this song on guitar makes your fingers look like a spider.

i like carters shirt
@youmakemelaff
it's part of his genius.
It's a opinion, and he is in-titled to it.
Best frontman since Stevie Ray. Hands down.
@youmakemelaff its actually really really easier, i thought it was gonna be a pain when i started but its not so bad. the chorus is a harder in my opinion. its just very tiring to play

Phi sig what!
who wouldn't?
@youmakemelaff he sold his soul
No words can describe how nasty Carter is on the drums.
Everybody hold up! We don't need to be getting so hostile? Don't believe me? Go pick up the issue of Rolling Stone magazine after DMB put out American Baby, Dave said that's 1 of his least favorite things & that's something he wishes he could change about this world? All the hostility?
Vi tager lige en med billeder på...
Wish he would just sing normally, and not all weird, like that... ruins the song, in my opinion...
That's just not true.
Mediocre singer? Are you crazy.
that's a gross exaggeration.
tard
Nope. Modern day intellectual laziness. Bach = genius. Dave = record company pawn. Dave is a pen15.
Comparing Bach to Dave would be like comparing Dave to anything today 🤢
this song sings to my midwest emo loving ass heart.
