This is a very unique situation. People are mad at Salt n Pepa for allegedly treating Spin wrong. However they were already a group before Spin . Not too mention Salt n Pepa is the brand which is why they were offered gigs that didn’t include her.. Also they were not obligated to make her a rapper within the group and let’s not forget Herby brought her on board as a DJ. That’s a tough situation. Do I accept my role or do I walk away. Spin accepted her role but wanted more. That was her choice for years. I was in a similar situation but different field. I chose to walk away. The business continued on without me. However I had to either accept the role I was going to play or walk away. I walked away as opposed to staying with resentment in my heart.

I’ll also add that from a fan perspective, it looked like Salt-N-Pepa always included DJ Spinderella on things like rapping on many of their songs, appearing in their music videos and interviews, etc. I believe that there was an MTV or VH1 interview where Salt said that she was helping Spin get her solo album out. In addition, Salt-N-Pepa, according to them directly, stated that they gave her well over a million dollars out of their own pockets once they got their money from the record label. Whenever SNP did interviews or some live performances that did not also include Spin, I always thought that she was off doing her own thing. She was the featured DJ in the mid nineties for some music TV program where she would DJ a song and then abruptly stop in order to confuse the guest. I forgot the name of that TV show, but that was fun to watch. She was also on another show as early as a year or two ago as a DJ as well. I think it was a Hip Hop game show. Again, I always thought that whenever SNP were on TV or doing live performances and Spin wasn’t there with them, she was off somewhere doing her own thing. Who knew that all this stuff was going on behind-the-scenes. I was unaware that there were issues until they were featured on VH1’s behind-the-scenes documentary about the group. I did not like that documentary, because they were interviewed separately and made it seem like they were angry at each other. I am still hoping that they somehow get back together and that all this push back was more for added drama for their reality TV show. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy their biopic with my fingers crossed that an album will soon follow...a NEW studio album!

This isn't a brand new issue this seems to be a 30 plus year old issue that Spin has been clearly vocal about for years. All throughout each episode it's stated that she she had always wanted to be an equal member of the group. This isn't even their first reality show. They had a show a few years ago when Salt was still married and heavy into church and this was her issue with them even then.

First of all...i agree with Spin...but im botherer by one of the central issues in the lawsuit. She claimed in 1999 Pepa called her and told her she would recieve 125,000 for the best of Salt N Pepa cd. Did she record the call or have the group or management have the clearly signed on a contract paper? She also claimed she that the group make 600,000 in royalities in which she was not paid. I agree with Spin and i agree Salt N Pepa cheaped her off of money. But Spin needs to gave concrete proof and i hope she had a very liable accountant all these years.

From the beginning she should had her name Salt N Peppa & SpinDerella in all the albums she hustle too and contribute. I understand that Cheryl Salt was the driven force and the harder to wk her A$$ off but as a Christian women a leader she fail to make those important details in those business decisions. SpinDerella should had her own manager at 16 and her own name register trade marked into Salt n Peppa’s merch, labels and anything she was n it. Her parents should been wise and fought for her rights. She was 16 years old coming in the Lion’s Den 🦁 this were adult women dancing with her and using her image, voice and skills to the group. From the beginning she should had her name Salt N Peppa & SpinDerella in all the albums she hustle too and contribute. I understand that Cheryl Salt was the driven force and the harder to wk her A$$ off but as a Christian women a leader she fail to make those important details in those business decisions. As a woman preaching unity and equality and feminism she should look out for DJ SpinDerella in my opinion cause she was the oldest, the driven force and the Godly Christian Woman.
