This is so awesome... I just inherited my grandpa's gun and it's this model from 1909. I thought it was broken and possibly needed pieces but after watching this video I just had to put it together!!!! Thank you!!!!
I loved old rimfire rifles "Wood and steel" I have a Remington Scoremaster( barrel code D SS, september 1947) near Mint condition , bealtifull walnut american! Congratulations from Brazil
I learned to shoot with my father's well-used Model 12. I've bought, repaired, and sold several. I found a very nice Model 121 at a pawn shop, which I kept. It's just a little bit better than the Model 12.
Thank you for info and sharing. I just recently received my Father’s 12a (who passed away 10years ago) from my Mother’s house. I believe he got it from his Grand Father. Mine has lots of rust/pitting on the barrel but hopefully will clean up
Excellent little rifle! My dad has a model 12 made in 1911. About the same condition as yours here. My grandpa bought it sometime in the 60’s and I believe my dad reconditioned the wood and bluing in the 70’s or 80’s. Would love it if these guns could talk.. would be interesting to know the history seeing as its 110 years old.
I have 2 Model 12s. One in equal or better condition than the one shown here. The other a bit rougher, with a hexigon barrel. I got the first from an elderly neighbor in 1952, when I was 7. The older one I got from my great uncle before he passed in the early 50s.
I just bought 5 22's and a double barrel shotgun. One was a model 12a, and it shoots great. The others were bolt action including a Ranger, a Winchester 69a, Wards Western Field and aaln old Savage with no model number but I believe is a Sportser.
David, Love your videos. I have been watching them a lot. Another one that uses that magazine inner tube latch is the Browning BL-22 that is still made today.
I had seen some pump action 22's some kids had them, I had a single shot Cooey, when i saw a Remington pump Model 12 at a local Gun Range(Canada) I circled it a few times, they were asking 600.00, the Stock had someone's initials scratched into it.I bought it, knowing it was old, vintage, it shoots great, i recently bought a Winchester 1906, paid 1000.00 for a Chiappa Mares leg in 45lc and the 1906, both shoot great
Like the old guns too. Looking for the Remington model 12 , do have 2 Remington model 121,s and the Remington model 572. Also 2 Rossi in 22 Lr. And 22 magnum. And last but not least 1 Winchester model 61.
Just bought one of these at a swap meet old farmer had a savage 22, and a Hiawatha 20 gauge shotgun I was looking at them he told me he found this in his camper showed me it and said I’ll take it got it for 230 he found it in a old grainery it was left on the wall family told him to take it
I’ve got a Browning Trombone . Virtually the same thing . Another of what are commonly referred to as “gallery guns” . The Trombone was a Belgian Browning made by FN in Belgium . I pretty much limit things to 1200fps ammo . Just because I like the gun and kinda worry about shooting really hot ammo in it . Shoots shorts , longs and long rifle .
This is a great video. I have one of these which was handed down from my father, grandfather, and possibly from my great grandfather (originally purchased by him?). I would love to know just how old it is. I had mine melonited so it will never rust again.
My 1912 m12a also does not always feed Hollow point bullets. The HP simply did not exist when the gun was built. Seems like all round nose work great. Also they seem to like liberal lubrication It would be more of a surprise if they did function normally, since the engineers would have needed to make provisions for a nonexistent reason.
I have a 1913 Remington 12A Identical to the one featured here. I would love to have mine restored to the same condition but have been told it actually decreases its value?
I have a Pre -1920 with Octagon barrel I j just shot on my channel @funklemikeoutdoors. Great gun. This gun was my great grand paws. Very similar to the old gallery gun.
If you dry fire on a continuous basis or a regular basis, yes it’s not good. Doing it once or twice for a trigger pull test - not so much. You have to figure that over the life of these firearms that the shooter doesn’t always count and is going to try to dry fire around it’s not in there fairly often
I don’t mean to be rude, but this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about, this particular gun is one of the most complicated 20 to one of the main reasons it was discontinued is because it was complicated to build and the depression, but to say it’s a simpleshows your knowledge
1931 Remington model 12 was first gun I ever shot. Squirrel hunting with my Dad and Uncle as a 10 year old. Love that gun! Very cool video!

I grew up with the Model 121 (same gun, next upgrade) made in 1936, it was perfect in every way, always functioned flawlessly was ,beautiful.
I loved old rimfire rifles

Nice piece of history. I have one from 1921,, its a bit rough but functions 99%. Hopefully my grandchildren will be enjoying it for decades to come.
Very sweet little rifle!! Thanks for sharing!
They are very nice rifles. Yours has been re-blued but it functions well and is a great rifle to have.

Great vid thanks for the takedown advice. I’m cleaning my dads old model 12a and found your video
Beautiful old soul!👍🏾😀❤️🇺🇸
Just picked one of these up. Serial # indicates a 1919 model 12a. Such a pretty thing. Can't wait for winter tk be over.
Nice chair, too!
I have one. The ejector was not working right. Now I know what to look for. Thanks.
I have one from 1923. 100 years this year

I believe these were a Pederson design. They are a bit busy inside, compared to a Win Model 61, but they don't seem to suffer for it.
Beautiful Rifle! I’m looking to find one. Enjoy your day!

Thanks for that info and thanks for watching Jeff
Totally loved seeing you miss like ten times rapid fire lol.....o own 2 of them and they shoot flawlessly.great video

I have a 12 a original condition was carried in a saddle holster many years it’s either hexagon or Octagon barrel
I have a WRF model 12 made in 1922 I just had it redone
What is your opinion of the value price range?
I have one as well, 1927 Model 12, Hexagonal Barrel.
That butt plate can be repaired with AcuraGlas from Brownells it comes with black and brown die
What's a thirty odd eight?
Also looking for the hard to find Winchester model 1890 or model 62
How did you find the year it was made?
This is a great video. I have one of these which was handed down from my father, grandfather, and possibly from my great grandfather (originally purchased by him?). I would love to know just how old it is. I had mine melonited so it will never rust again.
Search by serial number. Entire database online.
Hi Dave. I got on to your video after my Model 12 has a spent bullet stuck in the ejection chamber. Great video, but HOW DO I REMOVE THIS SHELL !!!
What are they worth ?
My 1912 m12a also does not always feed Hollow point bullets. The HP simply did not exist when the gun was built.

I don’t think it would if it’s really rough , it would sell for more restored .
I have one of these but was told it only shoots 22 long. Not LR. what can I shoot? Can’t find 22 long anymore.
The short and long chambered rifles typically have more value than LR versions. I see longs on the shelf occasionally.
I have a Pre -1920 with Octagon barrel I j just shot on my channel @funklemikeoutdoors. Great gun. This gun was my great grand paws. Very similar to the old gallery gun.
compatibility with 22 LR CCI STINGER ? 🤔
What about any damage from pulling the trigger on an empty chamber?

You have to figure that over the life of these firearms that the shooter doesn’t always count and is going to try to dry fire around it’s not in there fairly often
@@drdrake63 Thanks for the fast response. You are lucky to have such a nice place to shoot! Where I did some of my shooting is all condos now.
I have one similar to this one that hasnt been fired in years. Would it be safe to shoot?
Yes...mines 1913 and is perfectly ok to shoot. Probably outlast a few lifetimes.
En cuanto sale un remington 12 a?
That chipped butt plate is super easy to repair. I will send you some info on Facebook messenger
It's cleaner then the 1 I recently purchased. They are sexy & legit soooo that means I also have 1 available for Sale or Trades
