• Old Craftsman Pressure...
Today we replace the pump that was repaired somewhat successfully in the previous video. Unfortunately, not long after repairing it, The pump did in fact fail. So we are installing and testing a Universal I obtained online in the hopes if will bring this old pressure washer back to life. We also go over some of the accessories I picked out to help me around the house.

...And here we are after watching the first video about this machine. Thanks for all the part numbers and mods to mount the new pump!
Thank you! You saved me. I did what you did. I found at ACE automotive double thread studs threaded into the engine. My only concern is the new pump is not flush with the feet so there is a space between the deck bottom and input to the pump.
My cost- Amazon pump $90. ACE hardware $35. (3x = 1 stud, 2 nuts, 1 lock washer, 2 washers, 1 rubber washer) new spark plug and oil $12.
For anyone trying this upgrade. Try removing the sleeves on the original mounting bolts. Grab them with pliers and start spinning them off. This way no need for new mounting bolts. Not to mention one of my bolts is a blind hole so dropping the bolt thru engine was impossible. My new pump mounted up without these sleeves and the original bolts worked fine.
You will need the 3/16 key to match the crankshaft into the pump.
Great information 👍
Great Video! Does this pump have a pressure unloader valve? I have the exact same pressure washer but the motor dies when I let off the trigger. Any suggestions?
i buy all those old pumps .things like that black plug are hard to find even the unloader.
Prior to installing the new pump, did you have to reuse the old orange seal that sat atop the old pump or was it not required with the new universal pump?
Great Video, thanks
Did not reuse the seal. new pump was fully self contained. Ready to install out of the box.
How much oil did u put on old pump ..
JungleKing007, I have the exact same pressure washer (craftsman
580.768310). An old coworker gave it to me last fall when he bought a
new electric pressure washer, so I took his hand-me-down and stored it
in the corner of my garage. This weekend I thought I'd bust it out and
clean a few things up around the yard, but to my dismay I discovered my
pump was bad too; all the seals and gaskets were dry rotted. After some
research on the 'inter-webs' I too discovered that replacement parts
for the stock pump were either astronomically priced or impossible to
find. While doing my googling I stumbled upon your video, so I think I'm
going to follow your lead and replace the pump with the exact pump as
you did (at least I know it will work) and hopefully I'll be back in
business. I do have one question though; what crankshaft adapter key did
you use, and where did you buy it? You didn't mention where you got it
in the video, nor do I see it listed in the description with the other
project materials... If I get the pump, crankshaft key, and mounting
hardware, I should be all set. Thanks in advance! Also, your videos were
very helpful, thanks for sharing!
I apologize, will be updating the description shortly. bought the key off Ebay, search "Key Stock to Fit RMW2.2G24 RMW2G24 AR Pumps." Think it was $4 total. You may also check your local small engine repair shop. The keyway/keystock should be a standard size fit for most vertical shaft motors, 3/16" . Thanks for watching, and good luck!
How many Hp is your pressure washer's engine?
Did you have to refill the oil that goes inside the upper pump?
On the old one, yes. I had previously rebuilt it but the milky oil issue returned indicating seals were bad. The new pump unit was sealed so it did not require any oil.
Did you need to put oil in it?
Not the new one. It’s a sealed unit.
HI THERE I GOT LUCKY WITH A ENGINE AND WASHER BUT ONE OF THE ALUM BRACKETS BROKE FROM THE BOLT UNIT.. I WAS ONLY WONDERING WHAT IT CAN BE...
i got a craftman washer with 2500 psi can i upgrade with a higher psi pump like 2700
+Miguel Angel Alvarez I don't see why not. Be sure to check the new pump's motor horsepower range rating to make sure you're not going to overwork the motor. Thanks for watching! Good luck!
Check the knob on the foam cannon. It should be all the way negative
Awesome
Pump won't come off after removing bolts...why?
Could be fused to the drive shaft? That is one possibility
did those nozzles that came with the foam gun the correct size to work with the pressure washer? mine seem to be way over sized
+Whyme123 Are you referring to the colored nozzles? Yes, those came in the kit with the foam gun. Was designed to accept either the spray nozzles or the foam cannon attachment.
Nice job
So my craftsman pressure washer comes with the newer pump you’re using. I watched your other video and used it as guide to pull apart the pump and check out the inside. It started working again but not 100% like before. I bought the pressure washer used for $120 three years ago, the pump cost $110 now. Question is, do I buy a new pump and hope it last, dish out a few more bucks ($140) to buy an electric pressure washer and not worry about carb gumming up or just dish out the $200 for a decent gasser? Decisions… decisions….
Depends on the pressures you need and how often you will use it. Mine still works to this day but I do find the gasser is a bit bulky some times to use. Electric units fit most home uses, and are pretty reliable as long as they are correctly maintained. Personal preference at this point. I have no intention to going to an electric one myself until my gas unit breaks completely.
@@jungleking007Channel I ended up picking up a $100 Greenworks 1700 PSI pressure washer. Let my brother in law borrow the gasser. Just forgot to grab my good hose and quick connect attachments. Figure the electric for washing the cars and gasser for driveways and siding.
i wish i had that for parts i need thar big black plug got a good pump but dont have that .love the info though.
Great video I have a newer craftsman I lent it to a family member and he cross threaded the outlet of the pump is there a way to change just that out or do I need to replace the whole pump
It may depend on the water pump assembly. If parts are available, I'm sure the outlet pipe would be out there. Check for part numbers on the pump itself and/or see if you can look up the manufacturer. Good Luck! Thank you for watching!
Probably need a new head unit
Dang! Tryna get the right depth pump is a crapshoot!
Great video were can buy that pump you use on your the unit and how much you pay?
Check the description for pump information. Bought new pump off EBay. Think I paid about $120 for it.
Where did you get that shaft key?
Store, part number?
EBay, check the description for the search term I used
@@jungleking007Channel
Sounds good thanks much
Where did you get the replacement pump?
Ebay, video description has the info
@@jungleking007Channel got one ordered.
thanks
Hi friend where can I get that pump
I bought mine on Ebay. Check the description for information on what to search.
Link for new pump have the same pressure washer. Just stop working
Check the description. I think the link or instructions are still valid
Cant believe to see washing a car on street without oil separator and soap water capture. Just lucky that we have so many planets spare after ruining this one...
😂😂 idiot
First of all he is in his driveway not the street, Second oil separator, for what does his driveway look stained to you!! And as for the soap most automotive soaps are environmentally friendly AKA NOT HARMFUL! I am sure he pays his taxes so therfore he can use the sewers for his run off! You sound like you are from California, so maybe you should not be on the internet watching videos because you just might get Cancer!
Oh mer gaw....oil separator.
@@NeverEnoughPyro40 It's about the pollution from the gas engine. I use mine where it is cost effective, decks, fence, house, etc. To wash a car ?? It would be better to go to a car wash that recycles the water. (yes there are ones) Kudos for the video repair.
LOL
