You should be so proud of yourself for questioning purchasing motives. It’s not easy to put a spotlight on yourself and examine everything warts and all,
You realized that buying all those bags were defining who you were but you ARE SO MUCH MORE.
You are getting more subscribers even without all the unboxing you used to do.
Channeling your anxiety, sadness over buying less into Yoga and exercise is fantastic and far healthier in the long run! Well done!!
You don’t have to do a complete no buy to be successful- you define what that looks like and you are hitting your marks!
Yes! Take it slow, you will enjoy the change if it’s steady and not all at once.
We all still love your channel🌸🌸
aw sending my love back at you makeup! 💖💖💖💖
This is such a thoughtful comment. Very very nice!
@@ruthmclean5116 thank you! What a lovely and kind comment you gave me🌸
@@MakeupAgain561 I think you are extremely bright and articulate! Women supporting women is a wonderful concept ♥️
I agree! Your health and well-being is the most valuable thing you can have. I'm glad you've taken this time to do the hard thing and really examine yourself. You should be very proud of yourself, as it's not an easy task! Your channel has still been great without the unboxings; I've really enjoyed it lately.
As a former "bagaholic" I understand completely. Given some time without a big bag purchase, you will feel better about yourself and more appreciative of what you have. I have consigned or sold about two-thirds of my handbags in the past year. I'm down to the ones that work with my wardrobe, are functional for my lifestyle, and that I truly enjoy carrying. With fewer bags, I find I reach for different ones more often. Somehow, having too many choices was not good for me. Less is more. The same with my clothes. I have downsized my wardrobe to only those clothes that fit me, which I know I will wear, and found the same thing. With less crammed in my closet I'm seeing things that coordinate so much easier. I'm not staring into the abyss, swearing I have nothing to wear. I'm far from a minimalist, but truly trying to be more rational about purchases. Keep going, Jess! You will find the balance you are seeking!
I really enjoy your Jessithought videos. It's a real talent to have an interesting luxury youtube channel that isn't just unboxings and you manage it!
aw thanks lots 💖
I’m on the same space right now! Buying less and focusing on filling myself up with other things. Love the focus on simplifying! It’s so much more peaceful! Love this Jess! ✌️💖
yes!!! no need to over-complicate life!!💖💖
Yes yes & yes! Peace Is Bliss 😁
i’d like to see you do more styling videos with the bags. You’ve already got different ways of wearing them different colourways etc. I think it would be really fun. I think you could pick a bag of the week and style it a couple of different ways to give us some ideas.
Weight lifting is good for anger/anxiety too - you can start low weigh/high reps and work your way up… xx
ooh. this is good to know. i’ve been wanting to start weight lifting.
agree, bag styling vlogs are the new unboxing videos. Jess, you could also throw out the challenge to your fellow luxury RUclipsrs.
Chasing that first high.........the first step is recognizing the problem. You are on the right path. Don't beat yourself. Love yourself and keep you happy 💖
Im so glad to have found your channel. It is so difficult to stop cold turkey in buying what you love to do. Your insight is very helpful. Trying to do things in moderation is harder than it seems but always a good goal to aim. Keep up the great work!
Jess-have you read Dopamine Nation? It’s so interesting and it puts the cycle of addiction into perspective. I respect your low buy-it’s hard! I’m trying to do it also and am going through the same emotions💕
P.S. I also think to myself I’d be happier if I bought this or that bag but funny thing, once I get it I don’t feel happier or like my collection is complete. I just start looking for the next one. I’ve come to the realization that the new bag doesn’t change my life at all 😓
It’s so important to talk about mental health. It takes someone who is really dedicated to being the best version of themselves to stop and reflect on the parts of themselves that are not the easiest to look at. Great video as always ✌️
Shopping for bags is seriously a drug 😂 I totally get it! It’s like we need that dopamine hit 🤔😫 how sad is that tho. But don’t stop shopping Jess, just find your “balance” I feel like it’s okay to shop but definitely put a limit on it. Like 2x a month versus 5x a month/just an example u know. GL to u hun! 🩷 you’re not alone. For myself personally, if I’m calling myself out here-I’m a shopaholic because I have low-self esteem. Working on it with saving $ now and actually sticking to it. Discipline is hard for me but it’s growth.
If it helps I actually prefer your critiques of new collections to unboxing videos. They’re so much fun 🤩
We are creatures of habit and find comfort in routine. Breaking routine is uncomfortable but after 30 days of new routine and behavior, your brain rewires itself. I think your video is wonderful and inspiring. This sounds like a healthy and positive change and pushing through the 'lackluster' will bring an intoxication all its own!
Thank you for your content!
Just wanted to tell you I am proud of you and it looks like your finding a balance in your life
I know what you mean. when I have NOTHING to track in my shipping app, I feel soooo bored. even if it’s just an amazon order. I think i’m kind of bored in my professional and personal life, and buying new/novel things keeps me sort of entertained in a way. but i’m settling into a sort of groove recently of being OK with selling bags / luxury items i’m done with to fund new things I want.
Great video Jessie, beautifully expressed! "De-programming" the joys of shopping for bags, jewelry, clothing, etc.., is a process that does have highs and lows. More time in the journey takes us further from what was and reinforces our commitment for change. Really appreciate your honesty and ability to share these feelings.
I like your channel more now you aren’t doing unboxings! We get to hear your insights instead of just seeing stuff. Glad you are doing yoga - I used to it stop the urge to shop too.
good to know!! 💖💖💖
I found your channel more recently, after your low buy year started, so just letting you know while you have a lovely bag collection- your thoughtful insights are what makes me come back for more!
I could not agree more!
Appreciate your honesty. Thank you for sharing! Im really trying to find purse peace. Ive been buying the bags Ive wanted for a longtime just to get them out my head & ticked off. Ive been addicted to hunting & buying bags for way too long. Its like a stress relief handbag scrolling & thinking about them. I get a real physical craving if I go too long. What Im finding when I want something is to think about what I already have which serves the same purpose. Its stopped me buying a few times. Im taking it a day at a time. I do really love bags and have for many years. I realise its something I will always love but I want to get to a healthy place when I’m happy buying just one or two a year.
Hi Jess! It's hard to find balance sometimes. I struggle with this myself. As of now, I want everything that's out there. But since that isn't happening today, I have to compromise and quit adding stuff to carts. Thats what I do. Therefore, I need a hobby!
I have to keep my brain occupied. I like to sew, and I like to make jewelry. And when I'm done with that, I rearrange my furniture, lol. ❤
HAHHAH yes!! I rearrange my furniture and bags all the time too!! i could do that for hrs hahahaha
So proud of you! But I actually think life is really wonderful with lots of beautiful things. I love shopping and it simply defines me. I don’t think I’m shallow or one dimensional I just want to enjoy my life!
Your current collection has resale value. Love your content.
Yoga is incredible! I’m glad it is helping you.
I just got a Rebekah Minkofff nylon and leather bag. That’s very Prada. Esque and only paid $70 for it on clearance:, really nice heavy silver hardware too I’m not paying $1500 for a nylon bag NOPE and the quality is amazing.
You’re doing real well Jess. I admire you. You are a lot stronger than me. It’s been wonderful (and a bit weird ) to watch someone I don’t know on the other side of the world grow like you have done and become their real self.
This video is everything and I have been on a low buy year and resonate with everything you are feeling. That quick dopamine hit when you buy can quickly wear off and then you are buying again. I think the past few years has been a world wind for us all with the pandemic and feeling isolated so we gravitated more to buying and now we can focus on other things since things are opening up and getting back to normal.
Textbook addiction. Good on you for picking it up and addressing it. They say one way to beat a habit is to replace with a new (healthy) addiction. Yoga sounds like it might just be perfect for you! One day at a time, you got this 💖💪🏻
@@HauteGemsDallas you’re perpetuating the stigma by trying to enforce no discussion of it unless someone has a diagnosis.
Of course you’re American- what happened to fReaeDoM oF sPeAcH
Don’t you have some tacky fake gems to hock? No wonder you don’t want people to question their own shopping choices.
You’ve done really well, Jess. pat on the back❤
Hey Jessie - cab you spend some time on highlighting on each bag you have now. What you love about them and maybe what you don’t like. I think that will help you but I know I am interested in you collection and what each bag means to you. I also love this video. I love your content and how real you are. I appreciate all you do
Congratulations Jesse…. Your doing great. Shopping addiction is something I still battle with
You should be proud of yourself❤😊
Totally On point! Myself in the same flow👍🏻
I really like the direction you’re going. Super Dacob always talks real life. Like he tells us watch out for the creep and showed he had one wallet, one key holder and he said he only bought one because that’s all he needs. I find his videos very interesting as are yours. Glad you guys are keeping it real. Try Bible in a year audio with Father Mike Schmitz. He’s so good. I just started listening and it’s great! 💕 Fr Mike is also on RUclips. Great hobby.
I bought a Dior bowling bag last week after a year and man I am tempted to get another bag 😂 I have a savings goal in mind for this year bc I wanna travel atleast once or twice next year.. but then travel gets me anxiety too so idk what to do 😅
cute!! i know the feeling!! once you get a taste u want more haha
Nowadays, I feel much better when I have stopped myself buying a bag. Trying to extend this as much as I can, so the next purchase is really special.
I’m proud of you on your progress.
I understand everything youve described Jess. I was there for a while during my horrible separation. Then i just couldnt anymore bc I had bigger expences related to the house, etc.
I dont think we ever fully get past it, it tends to pop up now and again, but if we're aware of it then we have a better chance at controlling it. Xx
being tough on yourself is necessary in life. screw the people who say 'who cares just buy the bags'. like, for real, after everything youve admitted? jessie, i recommend dr gabor mates hungry ghosts book, face your deeper emotions head on! you can do it, im in it too
OOO thanks Holly!!!! Let me write that down ✍💖
I found your channel this year and I find your content inspiring. I’m also on a low buy year. Trying to pay off debt and save. I love bags and luxury but the constant buying is not sustainable. I’m trying to find contentment in what I have. It’s a daily struggle.
I have to say, I do not have the control to have a shopping channel. 😂😂😂 More power to you. I have to not look at stuff and limit the shopping channels I do watch. I loved your historical commentary on some of the bigger brands. It’s really interesting and it’s a part of women’s culture and history, an intimate part of our lives that ties us to our mothers and grandmothers as well as stars of the past.
aw yes~! hahaha it's not easy! 💖💖
I love ❤️ your content, I have a shopping problem I love looking and finding bags, so I get it
Good job Jess! ❤️
Excellent video.
It is a big improvement as long as you feel happy and content .
We all go through struggles like that.
For me I ask myself, do I try to buy myself an identity (to feel special)? Better is to work on the identity itself rather than mask it. I prefer to go for a walk in nature, study my 4th language (German), travel and spend time with my boyfriend. And I always ask myself, is there a better way to use that money - travel/save/invest.
Do you feel special when buying a new handbag? Is it because your parents didn't give you enough praise or attention as a child?
You are a good soul, let your light shine 🌞☀
Shoping is un adiction! A real one!
I’ve withdrawn from buying luxury in the last 3 years. I actually feel normal again. The shopping cycle was taking over my life and it had to go.
It is difficult to get a balance when you're also a content creator for handbags! don't be harsh on yourself... being aware and having insight is sometimes all that's needed
Good video ❤
I can relate to this
The only thing that keeps me from buying bags is not having the money to buy them. Not sure if that’s a good solution lol!
Definitely it is 😂😅
i like your channel now more. the constant buying made me feel unrelatable to you. I'm in the same journey as you, so I stay. also, all the amazing content/topics you address I like more. it helps to fight the temptation and keeps me in check.
Yes jogging makes me angry. Good to know I am not alone 😅
Hey Jess, I don’t mean to sound rude or disrespectful but have you considered talking to a professional about this addiction? It sounds like it might help you with your struggles and help break down why you’re feeling this way. (Again I really don’t mean this to be offensive just a gentle suggestion as therapy has definitely helped me in the past as well). Thanks!
You should be proud of yourself. I know you live to shop.
There is nothing wrong in loving handbags .u will find more passion in life if u explore
How cold is it in Australia that you are wearing a jacket?! It’s 95F here in Tampa FL.
Australia does get cold in winter, in most places!!
Australia is in the opposite hemisphere from us, so they're in late-Fall/early-Winter right now.
its 6 degrees Celsius at the moment!! hehe
4 degrees here in Australia where I live
Is it that cold inside too?
❤
I think you have enough bags as it is. Unless you find something out of this world, take it easy. Just enjoy other aspects of life.
HOT YOGA YESS!!!!
love it! 😂💖
If buying bags makes you happy and you are not putting yourself in debt, then go for it. Enjoy the fruit of your labor!
Its called addiction. Luxury is your heroin. Hey, I know how hard it is. I'm a shopaholic myself. If you have a credit card, you are as high as a kite. I'm glad you realize what you need to do and are doing it.
You are definitely more than bags. Please don't compare yourself to Mel in Melbourne. Don't want to be critical of her but I find that channel soooooo boring and mindless. You are doing well.
