damn foam surrounds :D
Very good! Congratulations!
I have sussed out you use nail varnish remover to clean the glue!
I replaced the flange just like you did.
However, I carefully peeled off the thick urethane of the speaker unit that was originally attached and reused it.
Because the urethane in the repair kit was very thin.
Perhaps JBL wanted to prevent resonance by loosely floating the metal housing instead of fixing it directly to the enclosure. What do you think?
Hi, Im from Malaysia can I know where I can get foam for JBL Control 1?
What kind of glue are you using to on the metal frame & cone? Thanks.
My dad has a pair of Rogers LS8a speakers, but the surround has deteriorated (more like powderised). It appears I will have to do a DIY repair to refoam the surround of 4 drivers (which are 6.5 inches / 165 mm each). Can I seek guidance on:
1) where I can buy good quality surround foam and the glue for the repair work;
2) the type or material of the surround I should buy for these speakers (I believe it's the foam type instead of the rubber type). The concern is if I use the wrong type it may affect the sound of the speakers; and
3) I believe do not need to refoam the tweeters (sorry if this is a naive question), hence seeking confirmation on this.
Thank you in advance or any guidance provided.
Best regards
Are you using acetone to remove the glue and white wood glue as the glue ?
Nagellackentferner. Ist nicht acetonhaltig
What is that solution you put on with a syringe? Thanks I want to fix mine next 🙈
glue
@@chicagomen01 what is the best kind of glue to use? thanks!
@@atautana There are special glues available. For example: speakerrepairshop.nl/en/glue/glue-for-speaker-repair-18-cc/a-3406-10 - this is a very good glue which I have used with foam and rubber! And - from what I have heard in german forums - another very good glue for this purpose is a glue named "Aeronaut Beli-Zell". Anything else is more or less far from perfect. I would not recommend experementing too much with this....
Dimana bisa beli busa itu

BE CAREFULL - You should make sure the Voice Coil is Centered, before gluing the outer edges, if in this case you got is centered it was pure Luck
Hi,
I'm currently going through this process and was wondering if you could elaborate on what you mean exactly by this comment because I want to make sure I do it right?
How does one center the voice coil? When I google it, it seems to be a part inside of the speaker that is never touched in this repair process?
@@GamblerBE You should google more, you haven't search the correct words for sure, I'm sure "refoam surround center voice coil" will yield results on this topic, so do your work. Also there's many videos in youtube showing this process done correctly, people use Shims to center the voice coil or to make sure it's centered. This video here is pure crap, and the author doesn't know what is doing at all, if the voice coil got centered it was just because he was lucky but it's not something that you should post to recommend to someone.
jbl tlx 45 What do you think about this one there is two part
