  • The Brooklyn Nets were swept out of the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Boston Celtics. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and co faced an intense Celtics defense, spearheaded by defensive player of the year Marcus Smart. However, Ben Simmons made news off the court. Simmons did not suit up for the Nets this season citing mental health and back issues. Marcellus Wiley and Emmanuel Acho decide how Nets teammates should feel about Ben Simmons.

It’s probably guaranteed. And the Nets, waiving the physical, is in a “buyer beware” situation, they assumed the risk. Seems like the Nets only option is to follow what Philly is doing, place the balance of his contract in an escrow account and force Simmons to hire attorneys to take the whole issue to court or arbitration. He may eventually be awarded his money but he’ll have to take all the steps and time to fight for it.

I almost felt bad for Ben Charmin when I heard his “mental-health is causing back problems which is causing me to not play” story, but then I remembered that he’s trying to recoup his 20 Million Dollars from the Sixers for a year of work that he never actually did. And then I remembered him standing on the sideline, jumping up and down in his fancy clothing & shiny jewelry, realizing that this has nothing to do with injury or psychological issues: it has more to do with upholding the perception of him being a victim, stealing money from huge franchises, and pulling in as much attention as possible from the world at large.

Did anyone actually listen to Embiid's post game presser after the Hawks series? Embiid didn't even call out Simmons, that was literally the media that pushed that narrative. Embiid literally called out his turnovers and other things before he even got to passing up a layup and missing a freethrow. He didn't call Simmons out, he just stated facts of the game. Please tell me how that can cause mental health issues? When Simmons heard the media narrative he got mad and decided he wanted to be traded. Like Wiley said, this mental health thing came when he realized he wasn't getting his money. Let's not forget he also got engaged when suffering from mental health. Serious mental health issues don't develop after one statement is made that's not even directly about you. The crazy part is that nobody states how Embiid, doc, and Sixers supported him all last season and for the 3 seasons before. It was the media that was constantly bringing up his inability to shoot and his decline in the playoffs.

He wore a face mask to hide is face from the Philly media because he’s scared of criticism and being held accountable. Prior to that Game 7 presser, he wasn’t wearing a mask at all lmao… you can’t make this up. @@ike.o6944 u actually just agreed he with what he just said. “He wore a mask to hide” THAT is literally the point, he’s afraid to death…. He made the mistake of not pushing himself hard enough and allowed his bad habits to bring an enormous amount of criticism his way. The result being an individual who is mentally damaged by the backlash of his own shortcomings. It’s common for players to form mental blocks against the game of basketball after not playing for an extended period of time, it typically happens after injury but in this case, a trade demand. Ben has to tackle this head on, he’ll get in a lot of high level, all out runs this summer (can’t get it during the season since guys are playing games) so he SHOULD be able to work his mind back into nba basketball. The Nets are suffering from the Atlantic Yards CBA curse. They built the arena and the nearby housing with community support and signed a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) in 2005. After they got the arena, they ditched the community and sparked gentrification. The people who fought for the arena got pushed out of the community. I told Nets fans at the beginning of the season that I do not think they will ever win a championship there because of what they did to that community.
