- The DIY ponytail haircut is hit or miss, in a pinch, it can work. Here's my easy short shaggy bob tutorial, cutting my hair from a pony tail. You can see it came out really stacked, Brad Mondo's tip is to pull the ponytail a bit lower so you don't cut at such a drastic angle as I did, which required a lot of trimming afterwards! All in all, it was quick and fun and grew out nicely!

After researching on RUclips I cut my own hair last week… I think that’s how your video popped up. This was so fun to watch! You’ve inspired me to go shorter next time… I love your attitude about hair, I think I’ll try a choppy bob next!

I do the cut this way all the time and it turns out great. I love it. I do also add in a lot of layering though. I'm not a professional. Use really good scissors and always cut below the rubberband and not above it.
yes !!! Below the rubberband and not above like I saw someone post on here a long time ago. I already have short hair near my shoulders but since the chemo treatments last January, my hair isnt straight but is curly so I flat iron it which is bad. I would like to cut it about an inch or two every 6 months. Is it ok to do it this way?
@@77777tracy…..I heard someone say in a video hair grows about half an inch a month so that will give you some idea maybe on how much you like to take off . Wishing you well and all the best with your treatments of chemo.
Yes her scissors re awful. Hair dressing scissors are way cheaper nowadays. She best est get a pair !

I did that a few weeks ago to get rid of the ratty ends. I usually do it short but I can't hold my arms up for long now. I used to use 3 mirrors and put my hair in curlers start at the top and work my way down to the length I wanted. Then I would check it for any odd long ones and 'feather it all over. Came out great. I only visited a hairdresser for tidy up snips. (my ex wouldn't give me much money to live on so a haircut was out of the question. )

Ever since Covid.. I've always cut my own hair your way. I like and simple. Until now I have never been to the Salon. I cut it myself.😅😂😂 👍

I have been cutting my own hair for at least 10 years. Hairdresser went on maternity leave and I tried a RUclips video and it worked. My family liked my hair better with the DIY!

I am coloring mine in case I mess up. LOL. The photo of me here shows me w/ my hair colored black with a pixie cut when I was like 44. Now Im 55 1/2. Im tired of Bob cuts so Im cutting my own hair short n maybe coloring it teal or black again.
I CUT MY HAIR SAME WAY YOU DO. I WAS 16 YEARS OLD ASK MY PARENTS FOR A HAIRCUT. THEY SAID NO MY MOM TOLD ME YOU FIGURE IT OUT. CAME OUT GREAT. I AM 64 YEARS OLD NOW BEEN CUTTING MY HAIR LIKE THAT FOR YEARS . ALWAYS COMES OUT GREAT. MY MOM BEST FRIEND WAS A HAIR STYLIST. I WATCHED HER CUT HAIR FOR YEARS. THINK THAT'S WHY I CUT MY OWN HAIR. BY WATCHING HER ALL THOSE YEARS. SHE WAS MY MOM'S AND DADS BEST FRIEND SHE WAS MY BEST FRIEND TOO. I ALWAYS LOOKED UP TO HER SHE WAS A GREAT FRIEND AND LIKE A SECOND MOM TO ME.

It is just hair !! It will grow fast on the ends also since u cut it short Heather. I love it. All my life Ive had a short Bob cut right below my ears but Im tired of paying all that money at the salons so u have just convinced me to do my own next week and also Im coloring it. Thanx !! Great video

Been doing this ponytail bob for years. :) Edit, except I slip the ponytail holder down a little bit when it is in place, and then cut from above the band. Sometimes I do it longer but am going a little shorter today and searched for this. Thanks! I have super straight, fine thin hair and the choppy look is fine for me. :) I'm growing out a platinum bleach and recently added bangs and applied a temporary color over the platinum. :) Growing out and willing to go a little shorter to trim off the old bleach. Thanks

I’ve been cutting my own hair for 10 years at least 😂 just out of cheapness and anxiety because I’ve had my ears cut and never had a super great experience really.. anyways it started out as just trims on long hair and then eventually I tried long bangs and then eventually I decided to cut it to medium length and then eventually I got the nerve to try a bob and I’ve been maintaining for a few years now. You should try the theee pony tails method next! Look up layered bobs and find it it was super helpful for me! ❤
i did the butterfly cut on my daughter (2 ponytails) and it was SO easy and came out amazing!!! i've done this single pony tail method on myself twice since this original one, once pulled it down more perpendicular to floor, and more recently pulled it straight up vertically, both came out ok LOL.

I did this during Covid, and I still do.
With wet hair and head down comb all hair forward into a point then cut off point! 2” or more! Turns out fine 👍

Little tip tho! What helps with ponytail cuts ...use hair clipper....buzz it off is faster and cleaner cuts! This was awesome tho!
Yep! I use a hair clipper and it works great!
I cut my own too...I would go to salons, spend a bundle for a cut and they never do what I want....so now, I wash my hair and bend over, combing all the hair to the front and then cut it all around what I can see and it comes out even and layered....if there are any uneven spots, my husband clips it even for me....the end....I get what I want for free!
I keep my hair styled in a short BOB very similar to how yr hair turned out after u cut it. I would be way too afraid to it on my own tho cause it’s super fine & sometimes professional salon stylists have a hard time making it look exactly the way I want it.

I did a similar cut but I divided the hair in two, it turned out great and I have no one to be upset with except myself if it didn't turn as I want, do you know why? because I didn't have to pay 40 bucks plus tip for something I did not like plus it will grow again, and we can only get better!!

Thats how I cut my hair but keep in mind your pony tail has to be close to your skin downward that's way you get the under pieces

I have cut my own hair just around the bottom from the bottom of ear around to other ear.. I'm try your method one of these days. I am 77 yrs. old. and don't have transportation to have it done
I don't know where you're located, but I have found a hairdresser who will come to my home. (I'm disabled). There are hairdressers who will do this. I was looking on Nextdoor (just randomly looking at things) and saw another hair dresser offering to go to people's homes. You could also call a salon and ask if someone there would be willing to do that for you. I found my person through word of mouth. It's a service she's offered for many years.

it's just hair ;) but there's a difference between being brave and being stupid LOL!! figure out what style you want to try and watch some tutorials to give yourself the best chance of a good outcome!

Have used this cut many times when younger then I'd razor cut it into neck my hubby would come home and say got your hair tied back and id show him the short cut he liked long hair 😂,😄

If you put the ponytail on top and at the front of your head it works better I had a hairstylist show me how. And your right it is only hair it will grow back.
