- Don Caballero - " Fire Back about Your New Baby's Sex " at The Upstage in Philadelphia, PA on November 17, 2000 on their American Don tour. This was one of the last shows with Ian Williams in the lineup before he formed Battles. To compensate for the low light at times, parts were filmed in Nightshot mode. Enjoy !
I am always amazed at how clean Ian does that tapping, he didn't even need a fret wrap to mute the strings, yet it sounds so clean and concise.
he might have used a compressor pedal or idk
@@ChaosForevah no he never used one, and also him using compressor, won't really solve all the sympathetic string ringing when he does two-handed tapping.
@@sinistrality7883 makes sense
I'm pretty sure he's just got master skills when it comes to wrist / palm muting, he's also playing a Les Paul JR (which iirc only has one humbucker pickup) so maybe that helps deaden some of the extra string / sympathetic buzz?
I think that’s actually a Les Paul Studio, basically the same as a normal Les Paul but with a simpler less flashy finish which makes them a bit cheaper. A friend of mine had one, they’re pretty nice guitars.
Thank you. this music will be studied in the next centuries.
from the greatest album ever recorded
you may be right..
one of the great drummers of all time.
def on of the hardest technical when it comes to raw precision and power. He is harder faster. Its dani carry on extra extra acid
Yep. They’re all great musicians to say the least, but Damon Che was in a world of his own when it comes to drums. Unreal.
damn ian williams is killing this track
per usual :P
I was there. Saw them about a million times. Couldn't get enough. A great set that night.
Rudi Thornburgh if only there were Deadheads for Don Cab
Best guitarist ever
Agreed
The summer after graduating college I got high to this album on my lunch break at work daily.

I would just cry if I saw this happen again
anyone alive at this show is immortal forever
I think I've only ever seen Damon Che looking pissed off.
Get outta here Hitler!🤣

Damon Che in the end with the almost Scottish accent, iconic!
Year 20000!!!?!??! Wowwwwwww
amazing
Awesome. Upload more Don Cab, please!
was this the show where the opening acoustic guy who's name I can't remember was super drunk and Ian let him know it was okay to stop?
Great show.
will you upload the rest of the show? that would be nice. there isnt enough footage of the old lineup on youtube. this is really great though;thank you for uploading this!
Incroyable.
I wonder how many vodka drinks Damon threw down. Thanks for this footage. It really is great.
I would give up my left pinky to see them like this.
Trust me bro

I didn't realize noise had melodies, rhythms, riffs, structure.

Math Rock
How every suburban parking lot should sound on summer nights. No birds allowed
drums are off the fucking fishing hook
Ian just sold 54 Akai Headrush loopers.
I mean 256
477
I bought one years ago when I knew that was the one he was using, and oh boy, amazing switching mechanism and I understand why he was always tight; the response on those switches is perfect. Eat that DL4 and other loopers.
Actually, in this era he was using the Akai E1 Headrush.
whoah...
Very awesome video. Funny how it took about 9 years to get on the net. Che looks so different and sounds drunk as hell haha.
If you all like finger tapping, Listen to EL TEN ELEVEN
HAHHA
Anyone know what looper pedal the guitarist uses I’m new to this group
akai headrush
Ian uses a Gibson Echoplex.
does ian count while playing??
Refused to the slave..sparked up cos REASON shining to UNDO reconsider the VIOLENCE DID GO away...
Anyone know why Ian plays with his guitar up so high
この頃のドンキャバやべーよー
Why is Damon speaking with a British Accent at the end lmao.
I'm hoping it's a reference to "A lot of people tell me I have a fake British accent" lol
so different now
The crowd here was drunk & too loud (see the article "The Dark Final Days of Don Callabero") on a rough tour.
Anyone know the bass tuning?
i know this comments 4 years old but it’s standard
Ian Williams is the man... I've never heard a guitar NOT sound like a guitar in the best way possible like he does. Fuckin stud. Check out my band Time Columns, I have videos on my channel. We're an instrumental prog/post/math rock duo that loops using the same equipment as Ian and Battles. Download our albums for free on bandcamp too
Adrian Belew
Huge fan man. I have y’alls album on vinyl
why damon always look pissed off
alcohol
@@shanebywater6628 Also Ian and Damon were douchebags to each other
Last show ever. got it on cd. Sad and shitty performance mostly due to the fact that these two could not get along. RIP.
performance sounds pretty good to me despite as you say some 'conflict within the group'...
one of the many mysteries of this band is how they could play so well whilst not getting along and/or being extremely drunk
