Samsung is only advertising 400 for the read speed, they say write is around 110
Its not very clear though and they don't highlight that unless you find very fine print on product listings.

I will buy the Samsung 256 thumb drive for the iPhone 15 pro to use for Apple ProRes Log at 4k 24 fps, it should not drop frames. 30 and 60fps it will drop frames for sure!
Update: works with no drop frames at 24fps, at 30fps is close to the thumb drive limit but it works
and 25fps?

Any similar product with faster write speeds, closer to that marketed 400mb/s speed.

It's the fastest usb flash drive (stick) I have found that is not a portable SSD drive, beside the (faster) Kingston DataTraveler Max.
Would you recommend the Kingston over the Sandisk for most cases?

hey there...I wanted to get this drive to record video with my iphone 15 pro max...I want to use the blackmagic app and record in Pro res LT which should be less demanding...I have a Samsung T7 SSD but I would prefer something more compact-no cable to worry about-but only if this drive can record video 4k60 without dropping frames. Have you used if for video recording? No dropped frames? I don't want to record video in the apple log which gives HUGE files...is there something better than this Samsung flash drive? The price is appealing but I want it to work flawlessly. In another video someone recommended a MOVE SPEED USB 3.2 Solid State Flash Drive 520MB/s but I can't find a review. Thanks
Based on the speed test I think so…. It says it would work with pro res hq. It’s about 95 megabytes per second on lt if my math is correct and this drive was hitting around 110 on write.
@@adamtalkstech hey there...I can see the graphic...do you know which flavour of Pro Res 422 the iphone 15 pro max record? The USB drive in this review can do Pro Res 422 HQ up to 2160 25fps but not Pro Res 422 HQ 2160 30 and up..but in my case I would use Pro Res 422 LT which requires less than HQ...I may try it because I prefer not to attach my Samsung T7 to the phone and I think Pro Res LT will do just fine-better than H264 and better than H.265. But I think the real trick is to use LOG and for that the only option is the highest Pro Res and this drive may not be up to it. Have you actually used this drive for video with an iphone 15 pro max? Thanks
H Ithere again...I'm still looking for the right USB-C flash drive (not SSD)...have you tried the SK 512GB Dual USB C Flash Drive, 2-in-1 External USB 3.2 Gen2? It's a USB drive and it has USB C on one end and regular USB A at the other...I wonder if it is really fast for video recording with my new iphone 15 pro max...easier to carry thanmy Samsung T7 SSD. Also I want to keep the weight to a minimum so that I can use the drive attached to the phone while on a small gimbal like the DJI Mobile 6 which can only carry 290grams. Thanks

Got one. Didn't pic on phone. Format on computer. Still not reading. Did a fat and cut the quick. Now I see it. But I just cannot get it to use on phone. So stuff it bluetooth to computer. Then stick on a proper harddrive and job done.

yea i think u need to change it to exFat or something
i use to transfer files (mostly pics and vids) from my note9 and it works nicely. hope it helps for you.

It won't let me move files that are bigger than 4GB now. I have no idea why, but I believe I did transfer larger files before.
What is it formatted in?
@adamtalkstech I forget but it says to us a computer to change the format. If I change the format while it's in the phone it will erase everything.

Great and concise video. I use this drive to pad my MacBook storage and it runs games great, but the write speeds are definitely not amazing. Good, but not great.

yes your going to need files app depending on your phone but it should be downloaded on default

They never advertised 400mb/s, they wrote that it can read up to 400ms/s, which is variable. And They also wrote that writing speeds are slower than reading speeds. So, technically, they did a correct advertisement.
The big issue I see with it is that it is way too big, would be great if it was x4 times smaller, wallet friendly.
check the wording on their site and amazon page and that was what I was annoyed about.
@adam-talks-tech aah fair enough. I only looked into Samsung´s website tbf. But I bet that others are marketing with not very honest wording as it happens with many other things :)
TBH, the big fail I see on its design is this:
It is a C type, which means that it is aimed at phones and tablets too. But you cannot really plug it into either of those unless you remove their case. I will be bold and say that, probably, 95% of people do have a case on :/ rendering it a bit annoying to use! Ofc, it is a standard port... but maybe they should have made case with some 2mm thin neck, instead of a flat base after the standard C port. Then everyone could simply use it.
Using an extension bit is a no go for me, way too inconvenient. You just want to be able to carry this thing easily... I´d love to see some slim design, so it can even go on the wallet!

Use it with a Samsung laptop and you'll get those speeds. It because your using an Apple.
Shouldn't matter, but it's got something to do with the way this drive works with dual lane I'm guessing.
