    The title of the song comes from Stevie’s conversation with Tom Petty’s then-wife who said she met Tom at the age of seventeen. But her thick Southern Florida accent made Stevie think she said the edge of seventeen. Thus a song was brought into being.

    Stevie Nicks once told the story about how when she wrote the song Stand Back she realized that it sounded a LOT like Little Red Corvette. She called Prince to tell him and ask him if she could still record it. He not only gave his permission, but also played keyboards on the track and didn't didn't want to be credited.

    • @blemelin
      @blemelin 6 месяцев назад +3

      Actually, Stevie and her brand-new husband were driving down the coast on the way to their honeymoon suite when “Little Red Corvette” came on the radio. Stevie started humming a counter melody to the track, which is what eventually became “Stand Back.” When she was working on the track in the studio, she called Prince to tell him about it. He showed up 20 minutes later and played two keyboard hooks that became integral to the song. Even though he’s not credited, Stevie split the publishing royalties with him. In recent years, she has stated that she regrets never teaming up with Prince on stage. She has also reworked the end of the live version of “Edge of Seventeen” to pay tribute to him, adding a lyric “I know what it sounds like when doves cry.” 🌈💕✨

    Stevie Nicks is amazing! I will always go back to her in my various playlists. If you decide to do more Fleetwood Mac, you should know that the band did not speak to each other while making Rumours! They were all fighting due to all the cheating and back stabbing and if you listen to all the songs, you can hear all the emotions from each person’s perspective. It’s an absolute BANGER of an album from beginning to end. The next 3 Stevie Nicks songs you should listen to is:
    1.) Gypsy
    2.) Stand Back
    3.) Leather and Lace

    QUEEN 👸 I've been mesmerized by her since I was 8 years old, and that was a long long time ago lol She's had her background singers for a very long time, they are just as important to her as anyone else in the band. The one in the blue dress, Sharon Celani, has been with her since the beginning of her solo days. There's also Lori Perry Nicks, who became her sister in law when she married Stevie's brother. There is a lot of interplay vocally between Stevie and the background girls, it's one of my favorite things about her solo work. I'll concur with everyone else in saying you should see Fleetwood Mac "Rhiannon" live on Midnight Special. But as for solo work, try "Stand Back" (inspired by Little Red Corvette), "Nightbird", "Beauty And The Beast", "Talk To Me", "If Anyone Falls", "Gold And Braid" from this same concert, a song she did with Kenny Loggins "Whenever I Call You Friend", and some songs from later work that are badly neglected "Sorcerer", "Planets Of The Universe" and "Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream)". Have fun in this rabbit hole, I'm here for it!

    No, Stevie wasn't the lead singer of Fleetwood Mac. They were a blues act then morphed into rock/ pop with Christine McVie doing a lot of the vocals. They wanted to hire vocalist/ guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, but he said only if his girlfriend Stevie Nicks could join. So, there were multiple singers and songwriters in the band.

    Saw Fleetwood Mack earlier on at a very small club in Dallas called Cardies or maybe when it was formerly called the Bijou. Anyway late 70s early 80s and miss chica got so coked up that she ended up in the hospital with a deviated septum. The club had a major cocaine bust around that time and I believe that's when new owners took over. She was and is fabulous and I'm glad she gave all that up before it ruined her beautiful voice! ✌🏼❤️💡

    Y'all should listen to the studio version....this seemed to be pretty watered down being a live performance, studio version is very clean and you can really hear each piece way better!

    Gotta check out Stop Draggin’ my Heart Around. Duet with Tom Petty. So damn good!

    Kudos to her backup singers Sharon and Lori, too.
