I just went on a trip.. I only take carry on luggage and could not bring a knife.. or pepper spray... But I do carry my All steel..Zebra PEN .. it's heavy All steel it does not appear to be like a tactical pen.. another good check is to have a heavy padlock and a bandana... String the bandana through the shackle of the padlock and you can swing it like a blackjack very effective.. you can keep it in your back pocket with the bandana hanging out.. if you think law enforcement might check you just pull one end of the bandana and pull get out of the shackle.. you're now left with just a padlock in your back pocket nothing illegal

Last time I flew, they rook my pen. Claiming it was a kubaton.
I had said it was my daily writing utensil, they didn't care because it had a carbide glass breaker. They said that made it a weapon. I tried reasoning with them, telling them that was a self rescue function for use in caes of a car accident and getting out from being trapped in a car.

Doug is so humble! He is literally master at pain compliance and a Kali and weapons master. Amazing dude!

First time seeing him and he doesn't strike me as being extremely egotistical or humble, just a normal person.

yes! compared to some people I've met with less than half his credentials that always tell you their stats, he's totally humble.

Tactical pens are a great less lethal option! Trainers are also great for less... and just a flashlight works great! Great video guys!

G10 core "Sharpies" are not pens and therefore you can be charged with weapon possession because it is not a pen by the very fact that it doesn't write. As Doug said, know your laws. If hitting with a Sharpie, don't hit with the cap end as it is weak there; strike with the grey end as the cap will be secured in your hand from popping off.

    Great video Doug and Tomas!!
Definitely, a must have when constantly traveling overseas. I always carry my Ichiro Nagata Kunai pen when I travel to Japan.

If you can't carry a knife, or kubotan, you can most definitely carry a pen around without raising suspicion. And the great thing is if you know how to use a kubotan, you can definitely use a pen for self defense, the mechanics are basically the same.

Great video about pen defense. One point we use in class and training is where old white T-shirts and remove the cap. Marks on the shirt indicate where cuts and stabs were great information.

Thank you for this🙏🏾🙇🏾 In the UK you can not carry anything that might be considered a weapon even in some cases a tactical pen. This video has helped to steer me in the right direction for more research. This was shared with me by a great friend Thorin Blanco. 🙏🏾🙇🏾

You shouldn't choose a pen that's billed as a 'tactical pen'. Any pen with a strong metal case would be fine though. That's just an everyday object you've deployed in your defence.

A flashlight with a high Lumen count like Doug showed that you can use in a similar capacity is also great. 👍 You can use it, especially if you're out in a parking lot at night to shine in someone's eyes as well as to hit. You can also deescalate. For example, you see someone coming around the side of a dumpster at night so you shine the light in his face, if he goes "Hey man, what the heck!?" You could always say "Oh my bad bro, you startled me" it's a very multi-use tool. You don't immediately have to jump into striking.

Hello all when Doug says it’s not about what is in there hands it’s how they can use it…. I don’t think he’s talking about the skill of the people welding the weapon but instead the weapons attributes

    Anything is a weapon.
Long before my time at the last job a client reportedly became upset at a job coach criticizing his productivity or such. So…the client took the plastic piece he was supposed to bagging and heat sealing or such . . . quickly put it into a nostril of the job coach…and rammed it home! Allegedly the hospital ER personnel had to extract the plastic piece. The client lost his job. The job coach presumably lost a little of his air of superiority.
    Not that I’m recommending assaulting a boss…
