Instructor here. For what it's worth, I've brought my Schrade tactical pen through TSA multiple times and have never gotten a second glance, nevermind getting it confiscated. I keep it in my hand in "pen" mode and put it in the personal items bucket with a small notepad, my watch, keys, etc. No problems.
I've had the exact same experience. The key is to carry it with a notepad or with a bunch of other pens. Never had a problem getting through various airports with mine.
I work in a prison and have a basic titanium clicker pen with steel refills. I also have another titanium pen with a non-aggressive glass breaker with a screw cap. It can be used for self defensive both with writing side out or glass breaker out. I get both of them in with no issues. If anything, the other officers love them and ask how much they cost. When i tell them, they tell me I'm crazy for spending that much on a pen but I look at it as a life insurance policy.
. ZEBRA F-701 (0.8mm - fine) These are legitimate pens. Never had one taken by TSA or Courthouse Sheriffs. Yet, I can stab one through a rack of ribs. .
YES! My Irish blackthorn goes everywhere with me. I've carried a stout walking stick into court houses, airlines, with no problems. And it's always right in my hand. Like my Zebra 701.
Great Comment ! Have a Wood Sheep Hook Cane cut down for walking length from Tractor Supply store. My Zebra F-701 pen is mod to use the Fisher Space Pen Refill ! My Tactical Pen is the Maxpedition Pen that came with the Fisher Space Pen Refill ! tjl
I have a Smith & Wesson tactical pen and it just looks like a weapon. A few people here mentioned the Zebra pen. I'll be picking one up and using that in non-permissive environments. Thanks!
Just ordered a couple of "tactical pens" for my daughters from Sportsman's Guide, only $14.39 each. They won't be going into an airport, or courthouse any time soon. I purchased them for self defense purposes, here in the outskirts of NYC.
I was given a few at a trade show - I was looking at some gear & was given a few from a nice salesperson. Here in Australia you are not allowed to carry a knife or swiss Army Knife. It used to be any blade over 2inches but now it depends on the police officer but I keep a mini Swiss Army on my key ring & had no issues so far. I get alot of packages sent & don't have scissors to cut open boxes as needed.
I feel like if I’m relying on a pen as my defense tool, it’s probably because I’m in a very non-permissive environment. If that’s the case, I wanna draw as little attention as possible. I recently purchased the “Rebel” model from Atomic Bear, and I’m very pleased.
I got one from atomic bear and it’s very cool but the cap doesn’t stick on the back and it’s 2 pieces. It looks very aggressive when put together because the glass breaker is a spike.
Okay so what tactical pen brands does he recommend that fits TSA friendly requirements and looks less like a tactical pen? Maybe I missed his recommendations in the video. Please let me know. Thanks.
Haven’t really trained with pens much, but I played around with a tactical pen I just got for free and what I realized is you can get to a pen in your pocket much faster with the ice pick grip than a folding pocket knife. You might even cut yourself if you try to go for a pocket knife if someone interrupts you while deploying it. So I’m now considering maybe even carrying one around more often.
I just got my Atomic bear pen yesterday. Really nice but it does look like a weapon. The cap for the icebreaker won't come off. Other in that it's awesome.
Cool points. Id like to bring up the tendency is to want to stab with the pin. That's what I thought. BUT.. I've discovered is you grib the point... Hit with the "glass breaker' The pen because it's a funnel shape makes it reverse triangle going into your grip. Stops the pin from going out the other side of your fist. ;) Give it a try!
I pulled out one of my tactical pens as I was watching this. One big mistake I see is the printing on it is 'STRIKEPEN'. This in itself would make it hard to explain that it's not a weapon.
I do, too, and a pad. My work has taken me around the world into all kinds of environments. Airport security checks government building and in the best restaurants. A pen and note pad
I typically carry a zebra All steel ballpoint pen.. it seems very strong and I can purchase a whole bunch of them and have them in different places.. I have went through many TSA checkpoints concert checkpoints never had it questioned.. there are a lot of great strikes out there but what I really like is putting the pen up underneath the jaw and getting the nerve up there the person just crumbles to their knees in pain
I have a pen that I got as a freebie at the dentist, it is Al metal. I don’t know if it will break safety glass, but I. Am sure it will do well on flesh.
I am all for tactical pens, Security are well aware of what they are so don't loose them ! I carry a sharpie marker now, or knuckle single or full knuckles. I do carry and use a lot at my job a tactical pen it's a voodoo ? I think it's round pressure tip works very well.
I haven’t flown in a bit , when I do I always have a messenger bag / soft leather briefcase. I have my laptop and kindle and maybe an IPad. The bag holds a few pens, I always put the defense pen in there. To your point my Sharade is pink. Sadly they no longer make that model. I always but non tactical looking defense pens and have flown dozens of times , including international with them Zero issues. I have used it twice and it is indeed Very Effective as it delivers LOTS of pain ! As you said a force multiplier. I always have a 1,000 lumen light , defense pen and also a knife even if I have to buy one after flying.
I work a late shift im new 2 this tactical pen thing im looking g for inexpensive durable inconspicuous effective results what would you suggest -> I'm also concerned if im going to get a life sentence if i use any tactical pen i understand what it's purpose is for but i don't want to unalive someone either i hope someone can answer my questions
I wonder why noone has thought of a tac. pen where the tungsten/carbide tip is the actual cylindrical ''hole'' part of the ballpoint pen tip. If it's mechanically possible to build one and make it a normal color and shape unlike some tacticool monstrocities I've seen, it won't look suspicious
To answer your end question. I carry the Smith and Wesson flashlight tac pen. I take the battery’s out and roll up money and keep it inside for an emergency. I wear kuba kicks in my boot also. I roll play different senecios practicing getting to my weapon. I do carry a firearm, but a firearm is last resort. On my wrist I went the paraclaw in case I get attacked by a wrestler,or grappler.

Clip it right onto a notepad. Looks instant.

Wonderful advice thanks 👍👍👍

My cane goes with me everywhere, and nobody can tell me I can't have it, courthouse, air plane, bars.
It's A great tool.

Imagine if this was your answer to “sell me this pen”
😅😂😅

The tactical pen I carry is the original sold to me by Spy Escape and Evasion Company, founded by Jason Hanson.
What is your opinion?

What if I spray paint my tactical pen pink?

Where you get the tactical belt and knife with holder.
Excellent video. It would have been nice if you gave us some pen recommendations though.
I carry two matte black steel ladies Cross ink pens. They have been on the market for over 20 years. Perfect for me
Cool points.

Nitecore pens
Yeah I was thinking: the abso 1st thing I'd do is to black that out with a permanent marker
I have a metal ‘Parker’ brand, it’s cheap, metal and allowed everywhere
I do, too, and a pad. My work has taken me around the world into all kinds of environments. Airport security checks government building and in the best restaurants. A pen and note pad

I 'm in Canada and tried to order the pen. Message is "We are unable to ship your order!"
What is with that?
That’s canada for you. Welcome comrade.. we are slaves here imho
What if the cap is for the pen, but not for the striking end? Meaning, you don't have to take the cap off to use it for self defense. Is that ok?

Bastion Stainless Steel bolt action pens
Great choice I got the titanium one , I don’t even feel it’s a tactical pen just a pen but it’s so strong it can be used for self defense.
Great info !
Guy called James bond gave me his tac pen.
My opinion is the pen is easy to lose when I don't have it clipped to my T-shirt collar.
Can you make a video with a meat target made from pork ribs wrapped in cellophane and stab it with the pen?
Thank you in advance for considering it
Tactical pen into the eye or ear is rumored to stop a deadly threat. A cane also rumored to stop a deadly threat.
I take my tactical pen and wrap it in SpongeBob vinyl like for cars.
Takes the edge off.🤫
Anyway you could do a video with the para claw? Thank you. Pros, cons etc….. I love mine. Wear it 24/7.

Bic round stic pen is the best tactical pen.
Cheap, replacable, inconspicuous, doesn't shatter
I bought an atomic bear SWAT.... IS THIS A decent pen?
😂 I have the SWAT also and definitely NOT going to get through TSA with that.
I ordered the Stealth Pro. It is polymer, not metal.
17:07 So fencing for 🤓 s basically
Kyusho Jitsu
The best tactical pen I carry with me. Hoffman Richter, and my backup is by TRS. These are merely jokes and gimmick pens
You weary me with much talking
Just put playback speed at 2X.
I carry my notepad with a Parker Jotter all metal ballpoint. I love it.
