I always appreciate you showing the reality of homesteading. Because while it can be beautiful and rewarding, it is hard & dirty work. I can honestly say I will never own ducks. Because although they are cute & silly, they are so messy and dirty 😮. Chickens I might deal with for the eggs & meat but I can’t see my family ever agreeing to eat a duck egg 😝. You work hard on this life of yours and I thank you for sharing it with us.

Thank you! All is well here. The storm we got on Monday was super scary to watch but thankfully we only had one branch fall on the duck’s fence & leaves blown all over. We haven’t ventured into the woods but that’s no mans land anyway right now😆

I think you really have a great farm and i really think you should get more farm animals like cow,goat,sheep i really would love to see you with those animals.Ireally love your videos❤❤❤😊my dream is to live in a farm as well
We definitely want to get more animals! We have to take things slow to make sure we don’t overwhelm ourselves because we both work full time & making RUclips videos is also a full time job, as well as other obligations. We’re slowly working towards adding on :)

@@marianadavila323 we’re required to sell “clean” eggs, so the chicken eggs don’t necessarily have to be washed as long as they’re clean but the duck eggs are never clean because ducks are messy haha. I washed the chicken eggs you saw mostly to float test them, since they had been out there for a few days waiting to be dealt with and it’s been so hot. They spoil faster in the heat. But they were all good & those went into our fridge for us to use. I like to sell the fresher eggs & keep any older ones for us.
What does the “Tomato Harvest” scented candle smell like? I immediately thought the smell of the plants/leaves after pruning them, ya know what I mean? 😂

Do you have the same routine everyday or do the chores vary day to day
@@CideryFromScratch it differs day to day. I don’t always have a bouquet to pick & I don’t always have to fill feed totes, but the animal chores are always the same. Some mornings I harvest more veggies from the garden or do some weeding, depending on how much time I’ve got before work :)
We can hardly keep up with 6/8 eggs a day with our family of 4. What do you do with all those eggs?
We have a handful of local friends who come purchase our extras! I also try to make lots of freezer pasta & Tay eats a lottttt of eggs🫣 this was a few days worth. We’re getting 10-12 a day between ducks & chickens right now.
Lwhat is the ratio food/water for the duck feed? Do you do it the night before or that morning?
@@learnstead no ratio, we just eyeball it for both duck/chicken feed. We soak the night before & add extra water in the summer to help keep them hydrated & in the winter I will sometimes soak it that morning in hot water so it helps them get warmed up :)

What is that on the chickens back?
We had some issues with our rooster overmating a while back, so they’re “saddles” that protect their backs from any injuries from the roosters jumping on them to mate
