Someone should remind Alan that he was loved from The Shed and everywhere else at The Bridge just like the entire 70's squad . The sale of Alan and Ossie led to a catastrophe , like the sinking of the Titanic , the sinking of The Bismarck.. It really was a disaster , the pain of which was only really cured by Roman Abromovich . I would also credit Ken Bates such a staunch supporter of the club during his time there and obviously Mathew Harding . Loved listening to "chippy" who has an amazing recollection , so very interesting . Thanks for bringing those days to life again , Tony and Alan 👍
I recall the great days of the 70s .we did the double in 71{lost the final in 72} and then got to Wembley 3 times on the trot 78,79 and 80 {lost 2}.The 79 cup final was amazing especially the end, we was 2 - 0 up against Man U with 4 mins to go they scored 2 then Alan Sunderland won us the cup with an 89th min winner -still got the programme - happy days.
one of our own , the great liam brady from whitehall in dublin saw this guy make his debut v the ussr in dalymount park 1974 what a classy player he was. ps , love the podcast
I remember the game well. We won 3-0 that day against a USSR team which included the great Oleg Blokhin (who won European footballer of the year the following year). But that day, Paddy Mulligan played a blinder and didn't let Blokhin touch the ball. We followed it up with a 2-1 victory against Switzerland the following Saturday. Seemed like we had given ourselves a great chance of qualifying for the European Nations for the first time, especially with Liam Brady in the team. Then the wheels started to gradually fall of the wagon when we lost away to Switzerland. But for a few weeks we were dreaming of qualification and a bright new future...
Another excellent episode! Liam is a really nice man and was a great player. I recommend his autobiography. Best wishes Alan and Tony for Christmas and New Year
I had a friend at school and he was always going on about Brady "chippy this, chippy that". I went to Highbury to see him play. I wanted to compare him to Wilkins but unfortunately Ray was injured and didn't play that day. Brady was outstanding as was Malcolm McDonald.
At Arsenal when Brady was in the youth team George Graham would chat to him and encourage him. One day George says to Brady "Chippy do you know this Liam Brady they're all talking about? Is he any good?". Brady replied "He's fucking brilliant George." And walked away.
I’ve been watching the channel from the start. I’m gobsmacked you don’t have the subscriptions and views you deserve your guests are top draw. Your podcast is on another level to crap out there on you tube. Keep the videos coming ❤

I think it's fitting Bakayo Saka wears Brady's no.7 for Arsenal. Elegant, sublime skill. One of our own.
