Thank you for the adventure and seeing some amazing finds ! Take care , stay safe and healthy wherever your next adventure takes you ! Doing well here in Kansas .
Hey Matt, Hey Mike, What a wild Adventure ! That is the advantage of living in a large over populated area rather than out here on the plains of Kansas. You have a lot more chance of finding good vintage hot rod material. You dun good man ! Be safe and well Live long and prosper
That was interesting. So chaotic and scattered. This guy is so chill. Left a bunch of stuff behind. I would of picked up every washer that I paid for. And would of bin stressed out I might have forgotten something. LOL.
That old watering can is to fill radiator's. That's why the end of the spout is shaped that way to fit on top of the filler inlet. When I started working in gas stations in 1969 as a 14 year old they still used that stuff as well as the glass bulk oil containers with the spout caps. I recall back then when they went to the cardboard oil cans the glass containers were tossed in the trash, It did not bug me then but now when I think about it it really does. I am the same way with stuff. We don't have any sales like that here in Arizona but if we did I would be buying up all kinds of mystery stuff. I love to swap meet. Thanks for the great videos.
Situations like this are a good example of why you need to be a student of the stuff that you're interested in, so that you can tell at a glance what it is and what it's worth.
It's your knowledge that amazes me. Looking deep deep deep into a photo and identify what is at the bottom. I guess knowledge is power, my teachers were right.
Spring 1963, Spokane Wa., my cousin Chuck was looking for his first car. One newspaper add read, 1948 Ford coupe with spare parts, $200.00. We went to the farm to look at the car and it was 5 different colors as the guy had used 6 cars to put it together. The spare parts were the rest of the other 5 cars. Can't imagine what those parts would be worth today. Fun times back in the day.
we had several old dealerships sell out twenty years ago one was a old husdson been closed for fifty years and the old studebaker and the chevy and ford all had many dollars of treasures sold
Several dealerships went out around our area yrs ago , never thought about it , till I was old enough and out and about in my 20s and 30s and found out that their inventories had been privately sold and were stashed in barns around the country side .
Good score guys! Matt, I hope you let Mike ‘acquire’ some bits for his hot rod build 😉 gotta look after your mates!! Keep the videos coming and stay safe guys 🤙🏻
your garden waterer is what use to sit in gas stations to fill radiators with water . to tip of the can will fit right into the radiator fill area .. they use to be at every gas station , sitting under the water spigot to fill the can up with water , ready to go
It seems to me from watching several of your auction videos that if a guy or gal was smart they could pick up almost everything needed to build a nice hot rod or street rod. Admittedly I'm more into sports cars now ,older British ones, but still enjoy the old 50's and 60's style hit rods and drag cars. Matt you and Mike do slot to keep this hobby and "life style" going thanks.
I noticed Mike was giving Matt plenty of distance when he was off loading the truck with the tractor. 😊 Self preservation, lol. Always fun watching you guys. I’m trying to catch up!!
Those painted shift knob were a 1930's accessory, usually a multi-coloured marble effect. Our 32 Chev had one. The car had only done 7000 miles from new so the knob still had paint on it. I suspect most have disappeared a very long time ago.
I'm a 60's muscle car guy, but love watching you do your thing. I have to say, (even though you already know it), DUDE!!!!! You left A LOT of money on the ground there!!!! I'd bet there was a U-HAUL within blocks of that place...... Ps. Guys in muscle cars want those Ford 9" rears no matter what ends are on them as they shorten them and use new ends of choice!! HUNDREDS left on the ground...
Wow Matt I love this kind of stuff got tons of it myself as soon as I can figure out how to send you pics I will, I also have hood sides and radiator shell maybe you can identify they are on my dad's custom 37 Ford pick-up. Near Turlock Central California watching
Car sky.... amazing my goodness what a collection of cars and parts, big treasure of History Is there a story on the guy who owned all of this treasure?
This place is crazy HUGE! I think it’s cool you snagged a first gen Cougar grille- that’s my jam. Have owned 5 ‘67-‘70 Cougars & XR7s (including a ‘69 Standard Decor interior with factory electric sunroof) in the past.
IronTrap Garage, I’ve been out of the game since the Recession hit. But I used to hang out on mercurycougar.net. There was always a very active ‘marketplace’ on that site.
dude you walked past two W series big block chevs they go great in modelT and modelA coupes heap of power even stock very reliable kind of unusual like a hemi But what a score awesome
What part of New Jersey my dad that just passed in January was from the Parsippany area and ran a salvage parts company similar to what you're describing a bunch of stuff inside buildings and car parts everywhere they used to go buy old race cars and part them out build drag cars and street rods this was back during the late 60s early 70s before he went on the road as a truck driver met my mom as a waitress and along I came
Hi Matt. Good deals. You did good.. I see you have a lot of front axle assemblies. I'm in the dreaming stage. I found a 28 body that survived a garage fire. Otis surface rust. It was oven baked in that house fire. I'm looking to see if you would sell the front end stuff . I would like to build a frame. Like the one you did years ago for Eastwood.
One of those Olds/Pontiac rear ends has leaf spring pads, so it's probably a 1957. It would be the one to save if you want one for a future gasser project, the newer ones are set up with coil springs and connecting arms.
Hey Matt @IronTrap Garage, I have question on the Olds/Pontiac axles you discuss between 20:50-21:40. Being that they were commonly used in dragsters I assume they can hold 300+ hp.... I have a 1941 Oldsmobile that has this axle type. I'll need to have it rebuilt, but I am curious if it would be a viable rear end option for say a Chev 350 or LS1 swap. 300-400hp range...
What era are the olds/pontiac rears? The backstory on this cars/parts collection would be interesting. Seems more than a private junkyard going on there. Thanks for sharing
i bought a 1949 oldsmobile from him 10 years ago. he has been saving cars n parts for 50 years. he had his own bisesn all the money went into the old cares he bought
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Can't believe it either , we used to take a trailer EVERYWHERE , I was at an auction with my uncle one time and we had to buy a pretty nice wagon we hadn't intended on buying just to haul booty home , We had taken an extra pu even .
That place is better than a toys r us when you are a kid! I'd love to just walk around for a whole day looking. Definitely a candy store for any motorhead/car guy or woman! It's kind of sad though, just everything as a whole. They have everything in one place like that is absolutely awesome. Places like this are becoming a thing of the past. A whole lifetime of saving and in one afternoon it's scattered to the wind. Sad
Nice score of antique parts that’s half the fun is discovering them and the friends that you make along the way
The watering can for Kate is actually designed to fill radiators with water/coolant. They still make them but now they are made of plastic.
Yep. I used one just like it at the Texaco I worked at back in 69'. Only it was painted green
Was wondering as it didn't have a watering tip. Thanks.

My goodness what a collection of cars and parts
And hopefully people will get to use some of the stuff instead of it being stuffed in a shed forever
The Cadillac dealer I worked at for decades had the identical watering can which I had used for coolant issues. Love it!

That gardening can is actually a water can used back in the day at service stations to fill radiators 👍🏻
Wow! This is my favorite episode yet! First a dream collection up for bid and then the gold Matt finds in his bids .

Unbelievable a place like this existed! I wish I knew of this place!
Nice parts haul! I can't blame you for leaving some of the stuff. Keep up the great work
Knowledge is money at an auction like that. Many great scores all around.
Big Time Score Matt. Well Done.
Great show. Thank you.
I am happy to see you are buying stuff for the Swampcury.
Congratulations on some splendid finds! I enjoyed the hunt with you.

That's the best organized business i have seen, even saving roofs that people might need.
And I'm just the guy who buys those roof pieces
Matt, that's totally insane 🤯 but now i know, where my bumpers came from! Thanks for saving!!!!!! I see a sea freight Container in my Future🤣🤣🙄
Thought occured to me, no matter how much cool stuff a guy gets, ya leave it all behind when you buck out🤠
nice catch of the old thing you find stay safe
You have Eagle eyes...Good buys. It pays to know your car parts. Working smart...
Wow what a find Matt, you guys sure are lucky.
Good morning Matt!!!👍

I love buying piles of stuff but here in western Pa. not much left with everything rotted out or WWll scrap drives !!!!
That place is nuts...
Id like to see you put one of the pontiac rears and the hemi in the garage in that blue 32 coupe, gasser style with the colored plexi windows.

My back is killing me after watching all that crouching and heavy lifting.

I noticed Mike was giving Matt plenty of distance when he was off loading the truck with the tractor. 😊 Self preservation, lol. Always fun watching you guys. I’m trying to catch up!!
It only takes one shot with the tractor bucket to learn your lesson!!
That was a close call the last time!
It sure was. It looked like a painful hit. I was teasing Mike, but I was very thankful he was not seriously hurt.

Very nice! Will come with money maybe this summer. RWB ❤🎉
Arizona is where you go for quality junkyard scavenging. It's big business out there. They know enough to take advantage of the arid climate.
Wow, was the guy who owned all this fantastic stuff putting these cars back into production? The Rouge plant didn’t have this many parts.
Its hard to say. The buildings were set up in a junkyard fashion so id imagine he was parting cars out.
I would be broke if I attended that auction. Some great buys there.

That was a old radiator fill can for full service gas stations not for gardening but I guess if it makes your bride happy!!!
The Jerry cans are dated on the bottom. Ww2 ones are worth a little more.
I had one stamped USMC. cashed that one in a long time ago.
Mercmad yeah had a few of those. The early ones got the little embossed emblem I think.

I WANT IN ,HOW DO I GET A PEACE OF THE ACTION
Lmao, love the Argentos shoutout.
that "garden thing " is not a watering can , it is for filling your radiator , it fits into the radiator neck , old service station item ...
That’s all good for your back seat that’s why people use seat covers
man yall have alot of car parts up there here in texas if you find parts they want ten times what its worth
Wow nice.
Right on
