As a Native Angelino, I'm passionate about helping people every day learn about and move to this city that I call home.
For those relocating, buying second homes, investment properties, and even first time home buyers, our team would love to connect with you and point you in the right direction to find the home that best fits your needs.
I would leave, too difficult conditions now.
Everyone I grew up with here has left its to expensive, unsafe, and dirty.

I moved to Texas a week before the fires. My spidey sense told me something big was about to happen.
Glad you left when you did. A very smart move!👍
Did you live in Altadena? I don’t see palisades residents moving to texas
@ I lived in Burbank and left a week before the fires even began. But I had a strong premonition like something was going to happen in LA in 2025. Just didn't expect it to happen so soon=(
@@mangoqueen1681 I left two days before the fire hit Los Angeles and man I tell you, it was scary how close the fire was
@ Good for you, glad you got out. I can imagine🥲A friend of mine lost her house in Altadena and another in Redondo Beach says her child is wheezing with all the soot. I can't imagine home insurance premiums after this. And insurance denying claims😠So many people having to wait for permits to rebuild. 😳What a nightmare. Its awful and Newsom and Bass have completely screwed this up.
Quite simply it's overpopulation. The population of California has doubled since the 1960s, largely due to nonstop immigration both legal and illegal.
Thats why it became a "mega-city" right now L.A. population is 18 million.
Let's keep living in a place that burns down. Smart.
The downsize of apartment living is hearing your neighbors. There is one activity that is unmistakable that you do not want to hear. Why do people think others want to be involved in your business? We don’t.

Guess what, if you share walls, you HAVE to listen to everyone's noises, too bad so sad

Santa Anita, filled with a vast amount of disorganized donations, looks like a chaotic place for victims to find assistance.
You're saying LA can adjust, that is what it's done historically, but at the same time you're saying rents are so high it makes living here unaffordable. Which is it? I feel you're being kind of glib when so many have been traumatized.
This article outlines several reasons why people are leaving California, attributing much of the state's problems to Governor Gavin Newsom's leadership. Key issues include:
HIGH COST OF LIVING: California has extremely high housing prices, gas, and electricity costs, making it difficult for many to afford living there. Electricity rates in California are among the highest in the nation and growing faster than other states due to wildfires and climate change policies.
TAXES: The state has the highest taxes in the nation, with significant income, sales, and property taxes.
HOUSING SHORTAGE: Strict zoning laws and limited supply have created a severe housing shortage.
HOMELESSNESS CRISIS: Despite spending billions, the homeless population has grown, leading to frustration over ineffective solutions.
NATURAL DISASTERS: Frequent wildfires, earthquakes, and other disasters increase insurance costs and contribute to a challenging living environment. Note the LA fire devastation of January 2025.
QUALITY OF LIFE: Traffic, pollution, and long commutes negatively impact daily life.
ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES ELSEWHERE: Other states offer better job opportunities, lower living costs, and more favorable business climates.
POLITICAL CLIMATE: Some residents feel the state's liberal policies do not align with their values. California Docs, Hospitals Sued For Rushing 12-Year-Old Into Gender Transition. California Governor Newsom plans to use taxpayer dollars to impede US efforts to deport illegal and criminal immigrants, including paying for legal services. California Rings In The New Year With New Push To Block Voter Identification.
BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT: High taxes and regulations drive businesses to relocate, with notable examples like Elon Musk's companies and Hilton Hotels leaving the state. Since 2019, over 200 companies, including Chevron, Hewlett-Packard, Palantir, and Charles Schwab, have left California due to increasing business burdens, high tax rates, and extensive regulations.
CRIME: Concerns about rising crime rates and lenient law enforcement policies are also prompting people to leave.
This suggests that if California doesn’t make significant changes, more residents and businesses will continue to flee. Governor Newsom is criticized for focusing on a potential political career rather than addressing these pressing issues.
There are more affordable, less stressful living conditions, and better opportunities elsewhere. California needs to make changes. If necessary fire the manager ( Governor Newsom) and remove his “worker bees” - the ultra progressive legislators. To not do so - you just get more of the same policies that are slowly destroying one of the most beautiful states in the country.
Governor Newsom is a gifted speaker and always has a quick answer for any question. However, measure Newsom by another standard. His actions, not his words. You Reap What You Vote For.
All those things you listed are true, but for many being able to bask in the year round sunshine seems to override them all
It's was a sh1t box.. Now it's even worst
Well, at least LA has a wise, strong Mayor😅😅😅😅😅 And great political leadership😅😅😅😅
trouble in paradise! We all wanna live in Socal But its not easy.
Rich people are Sociopathic…a human tragedy, but they raise rents to cash in on a disaster.
I grew up in Altadena and my parents home made it. They say some of their neighbors whose homes also made it, are still leaving the area and I understand. It will take forever to rebuild, they will have to live with tons of construction, and they are afraid the unique charm of the architecture will not be the same anymore. And they also don’t know if they will lose insurance after the moratorium is over. Climate change is a big reason for people wanting to move. And it’s sad because we love Altadena ❤
Having spent 32 years in Lakewood, California, the decision to leave was one of the best choices I’ve ever made, both financially and emotionally.
Thanks for sharing 🙌🏼
@@darrenkrizlosangeleswhat about rent control?

California is cooked Im ready to leave
This is painful for me to say this.
Especially in liue of those who lost their homes and everything due to these fires.
But those who have decided to vacate LA, or those who have yet to reach that decision,
in reality,
that could be the best decision they make.
In the last 4 weeks, how many fires have broken out? 9 or 10, including the 3 that flared up this week?
Is there any doubt left that LA should be added to the list of regions that people live in, that is becoming too hazardous, too dangerous to live in?
I would move to another location in the United States
Don’t move to Seattle, or Portland……NOTHING but cold rain, ZERO sunshine, and locals who all hate Californians. 🤷🏼♂️
It's easy to "hate" Californians because consciously or unconsciously they act like the "golden, blonde child" who has it all and looks down on everyone and everywhere else as inferior.
No one enjoys being around a snob and being looked down on
Sort of like what certain Hollywood stars do.
Nevada is your best choice
I would SQUAT, like, FOREVER
@ …..Nevada is a Hell-pit filled with dirty strip malls, “Honey boo-boo” pickup truck drivers, and Walmarts.
Sounds like Paradise. Hollywood film industry is crashing too.
I would move to vegas or arizona

Some landlords keep your application fee, when they are supposed to return it, if you don't get the apt. And some keep the security deposit for three weeks, if you don't get the apt. Some security deposits being as high as $500.00.
ADUs... ha. "come live in our 400 sq ft studio apartment shed for $3000/month. We expect you'll be in for the night before 9 pm. You're not allowed to look in the windows of the main house as you enter. No overnight guests. We're looking for someone relocating to the area who will move out in about 6 months. No more than 12." It wasn't exactly in those words, but that's pretty much what I saw on one ad several months ago when I was looking for a roof to lay under in Burbank. Generally speaking, they want 2500 and up, many over 3000/mo for places that are half the size of apartments in the area at the same price.
LA is going to have to import their waitors, dishwasher and busboys if this keeps up.
And where will they get more construction workers from?
Charge what want!
NO SYMPATHY for losing your multi-million dollar lifestyle.
ALL of it should be LOW-INCOME housing.
It’s gone crazy !!! I’ve noticed lots of for rent signs near my office when it was heats full … it just isn’t worth it
Why charge $4000 for a 2 bedroom when you can charge $8000...there's a sucker born every minute!
It’s called ethics and values; an abstract concept that many have lost. Heard of the word greed or avarice or even usury? Families need to save money each month not lose it all on rent. Unfortunately many landlords are savoring like a snake for the moment to increase rental rates to become rich quickly while the tenant becomes poor after losing home to fire. God will account all their decisions in this life. I would not abuse these victims with more financial burden. It’s another form of evil which violates justice and equity to some degree between the have and have-nots.

Come to the great lakes region, no fires, no earthquakes, no droughts, tornado risks very very low in northern indiana, housing much cheaper too
Maybe they could clean up the lot and get a travel trailer put it in the drive way, and hook it up to the sewer and water. Sure the laterales should be in good condition they are burried. would take mínimal blumbing to do the connections. And then rebuild after a few Years once they are in a better situation.
Don't move to Wisconsin, it's cold here. Nothing 4 you. As a native Wisco it's heaven on Earth but you say away, LOL. Seriously though Wisconsin is awesome. Did you know Wisconsin Dells is the Water Park Capitol of the World?

Move to San Diego, and don't buy a home again near an old dry hot canyon, where it barley rains.
San Diego burns too.....I saw it firsthand. Go woke go up in smoke.

Why would anyone want to build in a fire-zone area where climate change is only going to get worse. Can you imagine rebuilding a new home in the same location and have that house get burn down AGAIN? Too RISKY!!! Also, they should change the law that only Brick and cement are allowed. NO MORE PAPER Houses!!!

So they say. I haven't seen it. Traffic still sucks.
In the Lahaina fire, the gov rented out hotels to accommodate fire victims for a year. Why this not happening in LA?
And what happened to free market? No more supply vs demand? What if landlords simply decided not to rent out their houses anymore, and just sell or keep empty because too much headaches with commie restrictions?
I applaud you, Madam. I wish you well in rebuilding your home. I am certain you will enjoy it for more years to come. You are an inspiration. Good luck and may God bless you, always.
Lived in Hollywood in 92, what a piss hole
Get rid of zoning laws and make new homes fire-proof.
Getting rid of zoning laws is nearly impossible.
I think it’s pretty easy to get rid of zoning laws now since no one is around for the comment period For you to change the zoning, you have to send notices to everyone, but if no one shows up for the public hearing, then the zone goes through
Yes they will have to build fire proof homes but that will be a lot more expensive for citizens there. Maybe 30% more than wood. Just an estimate. Unaffordable for most middle class to own a cement home with cement walls around yard.
Landlords are going to end up with squatters...after few months of high rents people won't be able to keep paying unless the rent stays. reasonable.
I got my first apartment in 1986 in Salem Oregon. 2 bedroom upstairs unit $270 a month.
Should have moved few years ago, when house prices was at prime.
If people leave LA for cheaper areas this will help lower prices, the initial spike in rents will dissipate as demand drops.
Not with the growing population of 80K unhoused people.
And don't forget the migrants. They need a roof over their heads, too. Remember California is a Sanctuary State?
👀
You could have 3 massive earthquakes in a row, and people would still not leave this state.
This is why I left years ago. I pay 50.00 monthly on over an acre where I live. Ugh waste of money
CRAZY to live ANYWHERE on that side of the Rocky Mountains .
... and the other side of the Rockies, also. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods - you can run, but you can't hide. Climate change is everywhere.
I would like to know how the DA is going to control this increase in rental units. Its fine to grandstand but will be difficult to control the landlords on the price of a rental. This is Economics 101/ When the demand demand goes up the price goes up
And hasn't real estate always been about the highest bid wins.
I think he highlighted a false snippet because then the DA would be acting illegally
Not to be an a double S hole. But... On one side of the coin I feel bad for people who lost their homes. However...On the other side of that coin... I kinda don't. Many of the homeowners that lost their homes in years past made it extremely difficult for CA to build new homes (zoning laws etc) all in an effort to increase value on their current homes. The irony is... many of those landlords are going to have to enter an unaffordable housing market. Now many of them are going to be priced out of the very market they helped create. Cold world ain't it? Now they get a taste of what everybody else is feeling.Yeeeaaaah. Welcome to the real Los Angeles. 😂
Get out of town start from o , and don’t look back because will stop you from a new beginning
Why would anyone want to live in L.A.? Crime out of control, Housing to exspensive, Can't get insurance, Traffic is ridiculous!!..No law and order!!..If your house is being robbed you are too let the thiefs steal your personal property and run out the back door!! as per KAREN BASS!!

Rent has been decreasing all over so cal lol We have for rent signs everywhere!
$29.5k/month? Is that for like a family of 10?
There has been a fire hose of legislation to densify (urbanize all of CA) and to gut environmental laws and take away LOCAL CONTROL of our shared lands, zoning, and resources. People prefer single family and psychologically it is a better fit for most people. There is more alienation in apartment living - studies have shown people are less connected to their neighbors.

Their climate in Alexandria and Cairo is not too dissimilar from inland Southern California, with higher temperatures in the summers, and extremely rare drops below 40F overnight in the winter. Depending where you are in the North African coast, it can rain as little as 9 inches a year, to as much as almost 40 inches per year (like coastal Tunisia, which is lush and green, full of pine and olive forests and dense Mediterranean scrubland) contrary to what most people think.).
The main drawbacks are traffic, cleanliness, air quality, and security (in certain areas).
ahhh yeah capitalism at his best !

they can try and prevent price gouging but the landlords will be more picky who they rent to because the demand is so high they will only pick the best of the best it won't be based on need.

the guy that showed up to the 13k month rental and offered 20k month (6 months in cash) bc so many people there and the landlord came back at 23k month. that is the market. what someone is willing to pay is the market. blackrock buying up all the real estate caused the current market issues and government lets it happen bc they get way more in property taxes and insurance goes up too bc of the home values. its all a rigged system from the top and everyone channels their outrage at the schmuck renting his mansion to the highest bidder.
