  • On this episode I shot some photos around town with a cheaper canon sure shot owl to see if everything is shooting like it should. Canon's sure shot line of film cameras where very popular and produce really nice images. because there popularity it is easy to find these cameras on buy and sell sites and at local thrift shops for cheap. It is an all around great camera to start off shooting film and would recommend grabbing one if you are just starting off!

      @@analogadventures9869I also have this camera but I still haven't tried it if it still works. However, I just wanna ask if how do I get the photos taken? Like to be transferred to my phone? And what's the limit of the film, like how many photos or does it depends?

  • @robertschellhammer3565

    The viewfinder is excellent! There are some limitations: it's a 3 element 35mm lens (no big deal). However its aperture range is f/4.5-11 and the shutter range is 1/45 to 1/180. It's auto DX codes are 100-400, so using iso400 film bright sun subjects are 2 stops over. Maybe, that's why it's an OWL and prefers low light. Focus is 2.6ft- infinity. Still, despite its limitations, it takes good pictures. Check out Zana Briski's book Born Into Brothels. She gave this model camera to Calcutta children who had no future. A film and photo exhibit was the successful outcome providing the children the money to escape their dire circumstances, receive a proper education and a future hope. The amazing thing about this photo book is that despite the ugliness around them the documented beauty.

    I randomly picked this up and it’s now my go to point and shoot. Photos come out so good. I was so surprised especially since I think I paid $5 for it.

    Great video! What film did you use? I've had this camera for yearsssss but I got it before I was into photography. Now that I've been shooting for ~6 years, I want to use this camera again. I'm really liking the colors and quality of the photos you took. Great work!

    Sorry I feel like a broken record asking this, but I feel like I saw 2 different types of films for this camera that you recommend. I just came across one of these cameras myself and I’m really stoked to use it I’m just not sure which type of film would be best to use for it some insight on the subject would be amazing!

    • @analogadventures9869
      @analogadventures9869  4 года назад

      Lexi Lanning haha yes I did, tbh at the time I made this video I forgot which rolls I used for what. I had a bunch of film I needed to get done and I forgot which was which. For this video I’m quite positive that I ended up using Kodak ultramax 400. For most of my tested videos I use either Kodak gold 200 or ultramax 400, they are quite similar in some ways the biggest difference being the iso (400 or 200) 400 is very much an all round film with some low light situations coming out ok, 200 on the other hand is best for daylight shots. Both films are quite inexpensive, compared to other films, so it tends to be the most likely film I take with me for testing cameras or just hanging out with friends. Sorry about the confusion on that, I confused myself as well. Haha

      Recently I having been enjoying lomography 400 or 100. I like the very vibrant colours that it can have. When I’m testing a camera or just want a cheap film to play around with as im out, im always super happy with Kodak Gold 200 or Kodak Ultramax 400.

    Has anyone been able to find a manual for this online? I’ve only been able to find one for the SureShot Owl AF-7. I imagine they’re very similar in operating them, but you never know! Thanks for this great video btw!

    • @analogadventures9869
      @analogadventures9869  3 года назад

      I’m just seeing the same thing for manuals. The camera are very similar in what they can do. It just look like the biggest difference is where are the setting are placed.

    • @analogadventures9869
      @analogadventures9869  4 года назад

      Catherine Lewis which shots are you thinking about? On my end, pretty much all the shots where in focus and fairly sharp. Also if the video quality is low photos might seem blurry cause of the compression that RUclips does to my videos. Lol

      Gillian Vicencio yes it is! Prima, Sure Shot, and Autoboy are usually all the same camera from model to model. The names are different because of the markets the where sold to. Sure shot for the American markets, Prima for the European markets, and Autoboy for the Japanese markets. (Small dumb fact, lol, but now you know.) ^_^
